Thanks for the palette help! Karl
1960 schematics? Message #41767
I'm trying to work on a friend's 1960 monitor. Schematics would sure make the job easier. So far, I haven't been able to find any. Anyone know of a source for these? Thanks, Karl
#41664 SCSI-II for 4000? Message #41669
Yes, as an electronic engineer, I'd be willing to take a crack at socketing the Buster (since I've waited in vain for my dealer to get in a replacement motherboard), but I'm a little hesitant to do that to my "baby". I've never worked with surface mount, and I'm not…
#41605 SCSI-II for 4000? Message #41653
John, Thanks for your reply on AmigaTech. I take it the WarpEngine is a significant upgrade to your previous GVP board. Is it part accelerator or something? I've lost track this past year, with job and house changes. I used to be in here all the time! I would indeed…
#41617 SCSI-II for 4000? Message #41649
Dale, Thanks for you input. These are the kinds of replies I was hoping for. One factor I had considered, but know of no current way to accomplish is to get the Buster fixed. Do you know of any? The Warp board is what? Karl
#41588 #SCSI-II for 4000? Message #41601
Dale, thanks for the reply. You raise valid points. While I knew that I would need faster HDs to make use of the SCSI-II controller, I was under the impression that these weren't that much more expensive. I also didn't know that there was a SCSI-II and a SCSI-II Fast.…
#SCSI-II for 4000? Message #41558
I've been very happy with my 4000 since I bought it, save for the IDE drive. It's fast enough I haven't been hampered by it, but I'd really like to start using SCSI devices like CDROM, backup drives, etc. Problem is that money is tight. I think GVP sells an…
#41440 #Amiga DOS v3.1? Message #41557
Is there anywhere I can go to read a summary of the differences between 3.0 and 3.1. I'd have to see some significant improvements to spend that much money to upgrade my 4000. Thanks, Karl

#73898 Impulse number? Message #73935
From: Karl Sparklin Amiga Vendor Forum · Impulse February 5, 1994 9:00 PM
Thanks, Mike. I thought you moved in '93, and that you changed your number as well. I'll call Monday to arrange an upgrade to my Imagine package. Karl

Can anyone tell me what the phone number for Impulse is these days? I need to call about the upgrade. Thanks, Karl

Blaq-dude, Thanks for the great hints. That spheres-idea sounds like it should work nicely. I assume you meant that they are varying diameters? I can hardly wait to try it. (Unfortunately, I've lost track of this upgrade. I believe that Impulse has moved and the last newsletter I can find…

Mike, I've been moving the last month or two and missed any announcements about your upgrade shipping. I did, however, find what I think may be the last newsletter – "Summer '93"? Is the offer form valid on the back? (I thought I remembered you guys moving too!) I need…
#103118 HP DJ550C problem? Message #103158
Well, unfortunately, using ADPro doesn't allow me to use the black cartridge during color dumps. That's the main drawback, as I can't get dark blacks. Wish there was a driver I could throw in so that that would be taken care of without starting over with a different package. Thanks…
#102634 HP DJ550C problem? Message #102645
Thanks for the extra information on Studio, Wolf. A couple more questions, though: I have ADPro and am so far perfectly happy with its operation for image processing, so I have no need ( I don't think ) for another program of this type. So are you saying that if…
#102056 HP DJ550C problem? Message #102073
Jim, So you've done extensive printing with Super_DJC2 with the 550C and good paper, and like the results when mixing black with color inks? Do you have any experience with Studio? Are there any "features" that you don't like in Super_DJC2? Do you still have lighten graphics before printing them,…
#101923 HP DJ550C problem? Message #102072
Thanks for the reply. I wish someone here had both of them to state which does a better job. And I have yet to see an actual price for Studio listed anywhere. The feature list of Studio seems longer, but every time I shop that way, I wind up with…
#101487 HP DJ550C problem? Message #101551
Jeff Walker said that there is a driver that has appeared over in HPPeriph forum for the Amiga and DJ550C. It apparently has a few problems, but it's the only PD driver so far that mixes the black with the color cartridges. Karl
#101500 HP DJ550C problem? Message #101550
Jeff, Does that mean that if I buy either the Studio "driver", the Creative Focus "driver" or the HP driver, I'm not going to be able to use ADPro's Prefprinter section? Karl
#101261 HP DJ550C problem? Message #101405
Mr. Challeron, I'm a little behind you. I bought a 550C some time ago to go with my 4000, and have used it with ADPro a fair amount, using the PrefPrinter section. Seems to work well, but as you report, things must be signifcantly lightened up for decent rendition. I,…

Peter, Say, that's interesting about the 3-position sensitivity switch! Maybe I could get another one I've been trying to build to work with one of the settings. Thanks! Karl

From: Karl Sparklin Amiga User Forum · CDTV April 28, 1993 10:09 PM
Thanks for the reply on the ab20 disk and it's problem. And CDTV's intolerance of it. I'll sell it to someone who has a 3rd party filesystem. Karl
From: Karl Sparklin Amiga User Forum · Amiga Hardware April 28, 1993 10:09 PM
Yeah, but I wondered if there was any resistor scaling and the like internally. If it's just a matter of hooking up the stick's outputs to the port's analog inputs, that's no problem. Thanks, Karl
From: Karl Sparklin Amiga User Forum · Amiga Hardware April 26, 1993 8:51 PM
Can anyone tell me the hookup necessary to convert a standard analog joystick to something that the Amiga will like? As a "techie", I'd hate to buy something like this when I can make it, but I don't know where to find the schematic. Thanks, Karl
From: Karl Sparklin Amiga User Forum · CDTV April 26, 1993 8:08 PM
I bought one of the CDTV's cheap recently and have picked up some disks, all with the concern that I wouldn't be able to read them, since they're not Amiga-specific. But most have worked just fine, with Parnet hooked up to the 4000. The one surprise I have is that…

I tried to reinstall the ADPro upgrade after calling the hotline and they sent me new disks. That did it. It was a flaky Disk 2. Thanks for wonderful support. Karl

Kelly, Do you live around here (Dayton), or are you coming in from elsewhere? Electronics weenies like me feel very lucky to just leave the house and drive to Hara when we walk around hearing people speaking different languages! If I were smart, I'd rent out my house! Karl

I take it that VGA Spectrum is another picture disk? Yes, the Highway Patrol has heard that you won't be coming, and has started removing the barracades. Also, the barbed wire around the Holiday Inn is coming down. Have fun in FL! Karl

It reports that a problem occurred while writing out the DPAINT saver. I got the hotline and got a replacement disk today. I'll see if that does it later tonight. (I checked the log it created, and it makes no sense what was reported. I hope this works.)

I called Walnut Creek today and they said the only reason that they say that ab20 doesn't work in CDTV is that the boot block is unrecognized by CDTV (or maybe there isn't one at all). He said that it works fine with Parnet, however. I saw an ab20 disk…

Yeah, I thought this had nothing to do with the DPaint thingie, but thought I'd ask. This morning I suddenly remembered that you'd sent me out a new disk from that set, but when I dug around and found it, it was for disk 3. I haven't gotten that far…

Thanks for the info on the CDTV article. That helps quite a bit, since I didn't think it was that long ago. The NASA disk sounds great! I wonder where I can get it. I'll call Walnut Creek tomorrow. I've seen the military disk, and although it has interesting info…

I finally got around to installing ADPro 2.3, upgrading my 2.0-whatever. Unfortunately, I get an "error has occured [sic] copying DPAINT saver" message. I looked at the savers.lha file and there isn't even a dpaint saver in here! Whaz going on? My impression from the notes about the DPaint patch…

Hey, I never thought of that. I'll ask Walnut Creek if they just meant that CDTV wouldn't BOOT CDTV. I'll have a Parnet hookup, so it'll be treated as a data disk anyway. The Parnet cable is half done. (I bought a cable to hack up, and wouldn't you know…

John, Walnut Creek's catalog has within their listing for ab20 "(does not work with CDTV)", or something like that. I've been told these folks are pretty knowledgeable about all the CD-ROM formats and can be trusted to say whether or not will work with CDTV. Someone told me that there's…

Well, if CBM sells a fair amount of them at $299, maybe a few more people WILL have them. I'm not surprised that neither CDTV nor CD-I has gone anywhere. At the $800-$1000 price point, the moment Gail Wellington described it I wondered who was going to buy this thing.…

Paul, You're asking the wrong guy; I'm new at this! However, I would use the term "generic" to describe things I would call "data" disks, CD-ROM's that don't contain executable programs, but just reams of data, like pics. Admittedly, there aren't as many as these. "Garden-variety messydos stuff" wouldn't execute…

Betty, Yes, it looks like the controller is meant to be used instead of a mouse, which is OK. There is a keyboard connector, but it's not the standard 1000 or 2000 one. It may be the 4000-style one. I hooked up a standard floppy to it tonight and threw…

Good point. The report on your View3.6 anim speeds didn't include info on the content; I hadn't considered that they would be small delta. Glad to hear that your experience with Anim7 is consistent with others' results. I assume you were using Viewtek1.04a? Karl
