I wonder that myself…I still can't figure out why all three drives I tried get 'hot spots' where the CD goes after only about 15-30 minutes. Every other component nearby (even the outside case of the drive) is cool. Well, maybe its time to invest in a more expensive CD-ROM…

Well, before going away for the holidays I tried all different combinations of DMA and IRQs, as well as the polling driver, and I'm still having problems reading CDs. If the lab folks come up with anything else, let us know if it is not a problem…

Thanks for the info…I may check out additional cooling for the system first – Since I didn't think I had much in the tower case (2 floppies, 1 hard drive, the CD, and only 3 of 8 slots being used) I thought that was fine. But, you never know…at least…
