Murph' Wow, thanks for the informative anserw, now I'm really confussed. I already have photoshop, so being that as part of a deal is really not a concern. I seem to keep leaning toward the HP. I have got to find someplace where I can see a varitey of scanners…
Thanks for the reply Kevin- If I understand you right, are you saying that a 35mm, such as a 3" x 5" photo on matte paper, will not scan into photoshop very well on a flatbed scanner. I could of sworn that in one of my photoshop examples they said…
Murph'- Thanks for the reply, I wasn't expressing a message in anger I was expressing one in sarcasm and humour, maybe dry, but never the less humour. I want to use the scanner to bring in color photo's, 33mm and etc., for photoshop and 3d studio mapping. Speed is not…
Well maybe I made this question to hard for everybody. First I quess I should have asked does anybody on this forum know what a "Scanner" is? And I don't mean the people that can read/control your mind and make your head explode. I can make it simplier, that new…

Scanners
Message #177137
I am getting ready to purchase a scanner, to incorporate some photo mapping into my 3DS, and of course, want to get the the sharpest pictures I can. So, with the new scanners coming out, what is more important, the color ability, 24 bit-30 bit, or the scan resolution,2400 x…
Cameron- I have to dido your comments on NT and the dual platform. I just bought an antiqueted (SP) dualP100 and have never been happier with a OS system. How can anyone even think of complaining about NT. Just try to survive thru UNIX or OS2. You want to see…
Cameron- Do you sell the NT upgrade and if so I can I get it from you or anyone? Thanks Carl
What was not true was that someone said …,What's Not True……., I lost the thread, when, when some one asked who said what when…… Oh no, stop I'm getting dizzy 🙂

Don- Thanks a lot for the instructions. Could you give me the number of the service burea you use and what is RIP? Thanks Carl
O.K. Don, I'm new to the film negative routine. How would I go about this. That is taking the .tga file to a burea and getting it into a negative. What kind of program or equipment should the burea have to be able to do that process? Do you or…

I have a client who is asking me what increase in sales or response rattio one should expect, when producing a computer graphic add into ones business. Seeing as how I've delt mostly with forensic animation and coporate logos, I'm not sure how to anserw him. So I'm taking a…
Thanks Steve, will do. Carl

Message #93662
O.K. let me try it again. Either I posted this message in the wrong section or nobody outthere needs any business. I'm looking for a good service to print some tga files from back up tapes or disk. I need good quality prints, glossy or dye symilation (sp) prints. Working…
In Ft.Lauderdale, Fl., but I'm willing to use the mail for quality work.

I am trying to find a service that can take my .tga or .tiff files, from a Qic-80 tape back-up, and print some high quality 8.5" x 11" pictures. I know I've seen conversation on this topic before but didn't keep any names or numbers.
John, WOW SCSI III, I quess I haven't been keeping up on my reading lately. Do you have any info on the SCSI III format and it's specs? How about the those new SCSI III drives, what kind of times and information passing are we talking about? Thanks Carl.
Yea, maybe I'm jumping the gun blaming 3ds, but the corrupted files were only 3ds files and other programs, like Lotus and some database programs I have on my machine all worked o.k. on the same day. Any way Gary made a point about it may be the the H.D.…
Well it only seemed to happen in the 3ds enviroment. Anything else I worked on that day seemed to be alright.
You know this keeps seeming to pop up as the one linkable suspect to my problems. Does anyone out there have a suggest for a good and fast SCSI ESAI driver?
Jonas- Maybe you didn't read my message carefully or I did not make myself clear. But I backed up the projects and files on two different medias. And all were corrupted. One on another hard drive, and another on a floppy stored seperated. Making a total of 3 copies of…
Jonas- Are you suggesting that everone has to update to r3. Hey, I paid $3000.00 for a program that I expect to work, manditory updating was not part of any buying agreement. Carl
No problem John. I'll load up one of the smaller files. All the bytes are there, it just comes up at "invalid Project File" under 3ds. Maybe you can try loading it up under 3dsr3 and see if that works. Thanks Carl
Joseph- Thanks for the reply and the suggestion about the merge. But like I said in the original message even the .3ds file that was saved got corrupted. I just wish some bug like this would have been pointed out before I laid out $3000.00 plus. Something like "Warning, after…
Yes, Yes, Yes, I know how wonderful R3, but that will not solve my imediate problem. Did you fix the prj. files? And yes I saved the project both ways, As a .3ds file and as a .prj file and when I went to load them up they were both…
Greg- I have R2. I'll have to look through my old messages and see if I can find the the tread you were talking about. Carl
Jonas, Thats fine and dandy for R3, but what am I to do with all the damaged files I have know? carl

O.K. guys, I've got a serious problem that has been going on since I first purchased 3dsr2, almost a year and a half ago. We had some discussion on this before but the problem really never go solved and I have to resolve this problem to continue working with 3ds.…
David Thanks for the quick reply. Could you please read my reply to Kevin Krell on the exact nation of my problem with Adobe. Carl
David- Thanks for the reply. Please read my reply to Kevin Krell on the exact nature of my problem. Thanks again. Carl
Kevin- Well I am glad to see that a lot of 3-d users use Photoshop. I quess I didn't make my point clear. I don't have any trouble loading a .tga or .gif file up in Photo, my problem is that when I try to "place" another .tga or .gif…

Say does any one know anything about Adobe Photoshop, or a forum on Compuserve, or better yet anyone that uses Photoshop. My problem is that I'm trying to import different .tga pics into one, but of course I'm unable to. Or if anyone has a better program that will do…

#3dr3 Demo Tapes
Message #70855
Say can I get a copy of the Demo tape for 3drs staight from Autodesk or do I have to try to get a copy from some one on the form here.
All right Gary. Now you let us into a portion of you mine. What is your final "Vision" in 3d animation? Or what would you like to achieve that would finally set your soul to rest and say "Their it is finally done, now I can go live in my…
According to an article I read in last month's Computer Shopper, dos and any dos based program will benifit from the speed of multiply processors, but there is a point of deminishing returns. For the type of archictecture to use multiply processors under dos, their is one "main" cpu that…
Seeing as how there is still alot ot minor problems to be worked out with the architecture of the mother boards for the Pentium, why not look into some of the multiple 486 chip boards out there. You get the reliability of the 486 architecture and the speed of multiple…
What a ironic statement from an Englishment about Americans and their guns. Seeing how it was the English aristocracy that caused the American peasants to take up arms and show the English the way home. You do remember the revolution? The Boston tea party? Paul Revere? and all that nasty…
Chris- Thanks for the info. I'll pick up the Sep. Issue and educate myself somemore. Thanks much. Carl
John >>Ask them about student loans sometimes. I hope you are not suggesting that lawyers have more education than the the people here on the form. I'm sure I'm not the only one still paying off my education. Carl
Gary- I'm not quite clear on the OS/2 WinNT thing. Will 3dsr3 run under WinNT too, or is this something we all have to wait for r4 to have. And if anybody whats to give a quick lesson on multitaskers, What's the difference between OS/2 and WinNT. Thanks Carl
Steve- PMJI but I have a .prj file that hangs up at the "Assigning maps…" part of the rendering. It souds like the same problem you encountered. Did you find a solution to this or did you just have to reassign all the mapping coordinates. Thanks Carl
Invalid project file
Message #52246
Nik Yes I rendered this file before saving it. So ever thing worked fine before. And the even stranger thing is that this corruption has happened to this file where ever it may be. On other disks, hard and floppy. Yes I can send you this file if you could…
Brian- Thanks for the reply. I did do a defrag on the disk and I am afraid that this might have something to do with it. But as I stated in my first message Greg had said something about incorrect map paths or something, I hope this is all because…
