Dominick, I saw your note about, 'about to buy a 2620'. I have a the Commodore 2620 for sale. $500. Works perfectly, just sitting in its box at this time though. Drop me a email note if you are interested (anyone) and I will give ya a call. Jer
Craig, Will it autoboot the a500 from the internal hard drive? Will you be selling a combo package? Is the AdiDE interface on the same small card? How about: Willowdisk – the flexibility of a willowtree for your a500 FlexiDisk or FlexiCard – based upon the option flexibility IHD-500 (int.HardDrive,…
Ken, Are you using the 2400zi internal supra modem? It requires all telecommunciation programs to use the device called modem0.device. They include a program "Modemmodify" that will search through any telecommunications program and modify the program appropriately. Whap! doesn't require it because under parameters they have included the option to…
Ethan, Just before you take it to a dealer, try two things. Move any speakers away from the area. Move your TV if the first thing didn't help. I received a new stereo with a great sub-wolfer unit (Is that the spelling?). I placed it on top of my TV's…
Supra, I have the same problem. I usually get about 1 or 2 send orders per block, resulting in any file upload coasting me 2 to 3 x what it should. I thought it might be a whap problem, but seeing all these 2400zi complaints, I am beginning to wonder.…
Walt, I have the 2400zi supramodem. It works just fine with access!. It also works just fine with Whap!, the compuserve automatic message and file review & download program for the Amiga. Read the instructions for the supramodem. It has a program that does modify your comm program. Don't worry…
Don, So you can decide to boot up into UNIX or AmigaDOS. Is this based upon a floppy in df0: that determines it, or is it a key-press option that tells the kickstart (or whatever the A3000 calls it) where to look for it's OS on a harddisk? Anyone have…
Since we got to talking about the Amiga 3000UX, can someone comment on how that is implemented into the software or hardware? Is the Amiga 3000UX a totally different computer from the A3000? That is, does the software that runs on the A3000 2.0 have a chance of running onthe…
Paul, You will probably get scads of replies for this one, because it is relatively easy to correct. The 'FF' program is simply a fast fonts program. It is not necessary. You can either delete it from your startup-sequence or copy FF from your C directory on the diskette to…
MGA as in monochrome and CGA is in 8 colors
At this time there is no way to have the IBM access a hard disk. I suspect that should be possible given time and programming on the company's part. You can be sure I sent in my registration card to get any upgrade information that comes out.

#A500 IBM emulator
Message #120
For anyone that is interested… I have received and installed the A500's new IBM emulator distributed by Pulsar Technologies. So far the installation was a breeze. Essentially, I have an IBM-xt dual floppy disk system hidden inside my A500. No, it doesn't run as a subtask of Workbench (like the…
Kevin, Diskdoctor renames disks that it has cleaned up. I think… I have seen it rename one of my disks Lazarus, I then took the necessary files off of the disk and reformatted as it directs. Have you ever had need to use Diskdoctor in the C directory? Jer
Mike, I hope you get a more helpful answer than this one, but since it looks like I am first…. Check out Redmond Cable. I found them advertising in AmigaWorld, or Amazing Computers. They are in Redmond, California. They specialize in Amiga cables and provided me with one for my…
Keith, Sounds less like quality control, than some sort of lemon. It happens in cars just like that. I have an A1000 and was using a 65meg expansion drive with 1.5 meg. I have an A500 with the 512 expansion board. I have an A2000 with 3 meg, 40meg HD,…
Ron, Analyze can run some of the 123 spreadsheets. At least it has read all the ones that I have tried. They were big sheets. Not very complicated, and they did not have use the macros, but they worked just fine without modification on my end of it.
#AMax, Bridge, A2620
Message #115122
It sounds like you would be a good person to ask. I have an A2620 (68020) board in my A2000. Would the bridgeboards have any problem with it? I prefer not to have to boot up in the 68000 mode if it is avoidable. Anyone else or Thomas too, does…
Richard, That is strange. I run Prowrite (3.0) from by root directory all the time without trouble. Prowrite itself is buried about 3 subdirectories deep; as is the Prowrite Prefs file. I run the program from a CLI utility program rather than workbench. Is there a chance that your shell…
Mike, I see the point. You can add my name and number to the list you are keeping for AMAX. Given the way multiple serial boards are available on the A2000 already, it should be possible for AMAX to make those serial ports available to the Amiga user. Jer
Dos-2-dos works with the Amiga drives. No special equipment needed.
Mike, I don't have Amax…yet. It is not exactly clear why I need access to the Amax serial ports from the AmigaDOS. Before I vote for something like that I like to hear the issues about it. What kind of complications would it add to the software? Would it make…
Ron, Thanks for that addendum. Not being an expert in 123, I wasn't aware of that. Jer
Chad, I have Dos-2-Dos. It is good for text/ascii file transfers. However, remember that most wordprocessor programs use their own internal formating systems. Unless the wordprocessor program that you use on your amiga is of the same type as the one on an ibm, you will probably get a screen…
Chuck, I saw your comments about Starterm. Once you get that 8-n-1 problem taken care of, take a good look at the Access! and Whap! programs. Access! should be in the telecomm section and Whap! has its own section. For ease of CIS communications with an Amiga, you can't beat…
Chris, Saw your note and Betty's comment about possible Europe connection. You might want to check out the Whap! section for an excellent communications program that saves long distance charges. Jer
Mike, I believe GVP has advertised in either Amazing Computing or Amigaworld that they have a trade in policy for their 68020 board for a 68030 board. They are giving something like $1000 off their 68030 board with that trade in board. It even lists specific requirements such as the…
Ben, What is the 2058 board for the 3000 that you spoke of. I remember when I first got my 2000 there was some mention of third party boards acting differently in different slots, but I didn't have this problem until I tried to interface the accelerator. Anyone out there…
A2620 hates supra?
Message #112328
Let me pose the problem. I was having problems with my A2620 expansion board. Someone pointed out that since I have a rev 6 board, that my 68000 chip might be one of the bad/borderline chips. He found that replacing the chip helped considerably in similar situations. Now I just…

Dvideo bug?
Message #35419
I did mean DV III (grin). Thanks! I didn't think to try out the preference adjustment. What I still haven't figured out is why it does it sometimes and not others. I suspect some interaction with one of the many other programs that I run before or in the background.…
Dvideo bug?
Message #35225
To any users of Deluxevideo II. I have noticed that from time to time, DVmaker creates a 3-4 pixel wide white line down the left side of the screen. For example, when I run the DVmaker with the Moveto&Path video, upon entering the second scene, this white vertical line appears on…
John, read the header at the beginning of the whap! forum. Add ;OLDM to your userid and email should work. Thats what I plan to do. Jer

Jane, You seem to know about Whap!, so I'll begin by addressing this message to you, but anyone who knows please answer. Tonite, when I logged on, my whap! acted like it was being used for the very first time. It went to the setup menus and changed all the…
Jim, Having been spared the Leary thing by being in Korea during his hayday, I could care less about having his picture attached to a package or program about mental stuff. However, if I was trying to convince an audience or consumer to purchase a product based on psychology or…

Perry, Just my two cents worth. I don't like the idea at all. I don't mind putting up with having the manual around for games. I do hate copy protected disks! I can see registering for high cost items like wordperfect and stuff like that, but the games … enough……
Gordon, First, Great to have you on compuserve. Second, I am sure there will be many more greeters and helpers. Third, I use Online! for telecommunications and it is not garbage. Fourth, The different extensions usually indicate how files are stored. .ARC is a compressed file that needs to be…
Larry, I enjoy the PAK common sense approach to unpacking itself and have downloaded the program as well. It's major fault is of course the compression routine. It does not compress nearly well enough in some cases to warrant its use for saving download time. It does well enough with…

Message #96557
Steve, I have been using Giffy for quite a while. I like to collect pics from the PICS forum as well as MACUS. I was downloading some ST stuff, but it was not worth the problems. Giffy is quite an improvement over the original GIF viewer, however when I want…
Mike, the same thing happened to me. I just put it down to some PD programs not working as well as I expected. Jer

Hi, I also have Kampfgruppe. I had the atari 800 version too. The major change is the user interface taking advantage of the mouse. However, it does not use the menus, it uses a point and click at a list at the bottom of the page. It has a few…
