Chris, Thanks for the advice. While not all positive, it wasn't so negative at all! 🙂 On the backliner of the disc we TRY to describe the contents. How can we do better? There just isn't physical room to do the contents justice. A cdrom holds too much stuff. How…
Chris, YES, we *are* listening! You want a better description of the contents of the disc on the backliner? Is that right? Or you want a better description on the booklet? What kind of information do you want exactly? Even the directories on the disc takes up more room than…
Adrian, We send the new simtel off the manufacturer yesterday. It should be shipping early next week. It's totally full. Thanks for your patience! -jack
new CICA MSWindows CDROM
Message #47920
I just finished a new CICA Microsoft Windows CDROM. It contains the entire MS Windows archive from ftp.cica.indiana.edu, and the Windows and Windows-NT related stuff from Microsoft's vendor directory on ftp.uu.net. There is about 350 megabytes of zipped files and another 300 meg of the same stuff unzipped. There wasn't…
Speaking of advertising more, what is the phone number or address of Xetec? -jack Jack Velte Walnut Creek CDROM
thanks for the info. i was thinking of using a normal "mini tower" ibm pc case for the case and the power supply. they sell for around $60, with a ~150 watt power supply. it doesn't have exactly the form factor that an amiga does, but…. it would have at…
I'm glad you like the AB20 disc. Warm fuzzies for amigas! Yes, I'm sorry we deleted /incoming from the disc. We didn't want to deal with the problems of the unknown files. And since yes don't have an amiga (for shame!) we couldn't inspect or catagorize the files ourselves. The…
Exactly, your cdrom drive is in an external case. The A3000 doesn't have 'bays' for peripheral devices, eh? To use an 'internal' drive, I need to buy a box. -jack Jack Velte Walnut Creek CDROM
Michael, Here is a disc our company sells. Perhaps this is of interest. AB20 Amiga CDROM $24.95 This disc contains the entire Amiga Internet Archive from ab20.larc.nasa.gov. There is more than 300 megs of software, over three thousand files. Hundreds of applications, including GNU utilities, editors, hypertext, plotter utilities, modem…
how do you mount an 'internal' drive in a a3000? -jack
#Catalog, cheap CDROMs
Message #22133
Glenn, We're a small CDROM production company, and our 'list price' is a 'special' price every day. Here's a short list of our current titles. Mention this posting and I'll take an additional 10% off! -jack CD-ROMs produced by Walnut Creek CD-ROM include: AB20 Amiga $24.95 – Shareware/Freeware for Amigas…
Sean, here is the catalog entry for the ab20 disc. You can order with visa/mastercard via mail, or call or fax or write. There is a $5 shipping charge in the US/Canada/Mexico per order, $10 overseas. -jack Walnut Creek CDROM 1547 Palos Verdes Mall, Ste 260 Walnut Creek, CA 94596…
If the ab20 disc sells, then we'll upgrade the disc. A site in switzerland is going to take over the internet amiga archiving functions, and in a couple of months we could make another amiga disc. At these prices, though, we have to do some volume before the enterprise makes…
When we built the ab20 CD, we deliberately removed the /incoming directory. That directory wasn't classified at all, and we didn't want to have a random pile of stuff on the cd. Sorry…. You are right about the ab20 site not being checked for virus's. A good 40 meg of…
We didn't know what the files were in the incoming directory so we didn't copy those to disc. We didn't want to take the chance of virus'es. Whatever had been moved into catagories by May was included; /incoming was not. -jack

amiga monitors
Message #57365
I'm wondering what kind of monitor works well with an Amiga 3000. Is the NEC 4fg a good choice?
hi, Walnut creek cdrom (1800 786 9907) has two unix discs. One disc contains the comp.sources archives — 600 megabytes of source code. Most of the source is unix-C; there is also about 70 meg of msdos mixed source. The other disc is the complete Gnu/x11r5 distribution. This disc has…
