Hello, all you heavy duty hard disk hackers! I gotta good one for you. I bought a surplus CDC hard drive for a lot of money, but I got no docs with it. If you have a cdc manual handy could you tell me: a. Size of drive in hds/cyl/sec…

Thanks greg, your a lifesaver (or are you a snickers bar?) Dave Weinbach PS: I now have a toggle switch just to the right of the POWER LED on my 2000 that I can enable/disable the C00000 memory at power-up and then addmem it later. Interesting aside is that a…

Helpme… I have my 2000 apart ( disabling the 512k of fast/chip ram ) and since I have the 'Cradle' out anyhow I might as well cut out those pesky caps that eat the first character I type. Only its been so long I forgot which two they were! Can…

I need to know wheter the bad block list in the HDFormat program from C-Ltd expectes its entries in MFM or RLL format when using the 4070. In other words, if I am using a nominally MFM drive with the 4070, do I enter the bad blocks directly off the…
Is Apollo YOUR Domain? Message #125874
From: Dave Weinbach Forum unknown · Hardware May 22, 1988 8:13 AM
Weell, you see, I bought an apollo disk drive at the hamfest here yesterday, thinking it was SCSI. I don't have it here but the model ends with '-34M'. It is a white box that sits on the floor and has a 50 pin Berg-Stick connector on a long shielded…

#118949 C-ltd software Message #119129
From: Dave Weinbach The Amiga Forum · Hardware April 13, 1988 8:55 PM
Con, (oops. that was a typo, not a commentary) Don, I understand that it is possible but have been unable to make it work. I crashed the system twice with the same FILE–>DIR trick. Nice. I tried DiskX to find the problems but got nowhere, and the Amigados dev. manual…

Okay, I DO have a reason for using the adaptec. I have a drive with 9 data heads (some use 16) but CA elected to only support 8 heads. so it was throw away 11% of my drive or use the adaptec. The problems with 2090 and scsi are two:…
#C-ltd software Message #118663
From: Dave Weinbach The Amiga Forum · Hardware April 11, 1988 7:47 PM
Ben, I am so fed up with my 2090 I am going to buy a C-ltd just so I can format my adaptec 4000a and 4070 based drives. I have 2 questions though. 1. Will the formatter automatically find and map out bad sectors on my old drives with extra…
#115846 A2090 & adaptec 4070 Message #115926
From: Dave Weinbach The Amiga Forum · Hardware March 27, 1988 2:21 PM
Maybe I can shed a little light on the 2090-4070 Fiasco. The Software for the 2090 should be able to format ANY SCSI DRIVE. All it does is send a single SCSI 'Format Unit' command, and any true SCSI DRIVE will know how to respond. The Adaptec controller is a…

Ed, Could you explain scsinet a little bit? I have 1 2000 and 3 1000's that I would like to hook up to a file server I will put together using a ST-4096 , 2 CMI 2640 30 MEGGERS, 24070A's, and a dual 10Meg Half-High Bernoulli box. Do you support…

Dave, I too have been trying to use the 4070 with the 2090 but so far no go. I usually get the -1 in open of HDDISK.DEVICE if I don't run binddrivers or if my boot SYS: doesn't have an expansion dir with HDDisk in it. I think that should…

I have no problem with the serial port. The problem I am having is with message and reply ports. The Videoscape manual says when a frame is ready it sends a message to a port called frame-control. When you are done recording it you send a message to frame-reply, which…
