Hi Glen! Sorry we missed each other. I looked for you, tho. It was whirlwind for me the whole three days. ShadowCatcher flew me out first class and we hit the ground running, (crutching, in my case). Had a ball, but we were on the go the whole time. Didn't…
Hi Brian! Would that version of AmigaDOS 3.1 have CrossDOS included in it? I need to port files back and forth from my Mac and Toaster on my A2000. Thanks! –>Doyle Calvert Synergistic MultiMedia
Hi Jim! Thank you so much for the info. I believe my version of AmigaDOS is 2.05. My Workbench 2.0 disks actually say v2.05. Would I be correct in assuming that this is also the version of AmigaDOS? I appreciate the help! –>Doyle Calvert Synergistic MultiMedia
Hi Hilary! Thanks for the reply! I missunderstood about CrossDOS coming with WB 3.0. I've only got WB 2.0. My friend who set my system up took care of adding CrossDOS to my setup. I know for a fact that it works with my Mac, because I've been doing it…
Hi Hilary! Glad to hear that you're finally closing in on victory! But what a pain, eh? Do you think it might've been because some of your external, (I assume SCSI), devices were powered down when you tried to load the Toaster disks from the internal floppy? After I simply…

Help with CrossDOS
Message #86115
Hi Everybody! I accidentally reformatted my internal drive on my GVP 040 accellerated A2000. When I recovered as many files as I could off the disk, my CrossDOS files were recovered. I copied them to a syquest with the rest of the recovered files without knowing which directory they came…
[continued] Guess what! On a whim, just before calling it a night…jeeze, it's 2:30AM already…I tried shutting down the system and ejecting the syquest cart, *BUT* leaving the syquest drive itself running. I rebooted from the internal HD…no apparent problems. Tried firing up the Toaster and whalah! Houston, we have…
Hi Hilary! Sorry 'bout your Toaster troubles. I'm having similar problems. I sent out a message a little while ago asking for help from everybody. My disk failures were regular and predictable. Disk #9 every time. But after I sent that message I got the idea to try booting my…
Hi Glen! I want to build my own motion tracking device that would record the motion data to a text file, and then find a way to feed that data into Lightwave to animate models. It's not realtime, and I know there's a lot of hurdles to overcome, but I…
[continued] I let that slide, hoping that you guys here can tell me what's going on, and tried to install my Toaster disks. Everything goes fine until I hit disk #9 and it does the first batch decompression. It chunks along for a little while, but then I get, "Error…
Hi Jerry! I've got a GVP 33Mhz 040 with a 170meg HD in a A2000 and I'm having the 9th disk problem trying to re-install my Toaster disks. It's completely repeatable, (happens every damn time!). This configuration has worked very well since last December when I got my Toaster setup.…
Hey Glen! How much is the ACCLAM motion capture system? I could use something like that. I'm thinking of building a motion tracking system. The leg's almost healed! Best! –>Doyle Calvert Synergistic MultiMedia
Hi Jerry! Thanks for the video info. Hopefully I'll be a contributor on the next one. Best! –>Doyle Calvert Synergistic MultiMedia

Hi Glen! Call me and come on by when you're in town! And bring a tape of the stuff you've been working on. I'd love to see it. Yeah, DreamTime's getting serious with Timeline. That island thing looks like a distinct possibility. The leg's getting better everyday. I'm doing some…

Hi Jerry! I'd sure like a copy of that tape. How much $$$ and to where do I send it? Thanks a bunch! –>Doyle Calvert Synergistic MultiMedia
Hi Glen! Hey! That was a pretty good article in LWPro! Way to go! Guess what? I fell off my 500cc dirt bike 3 weeks ago and broke my stupid leg! Had knee surgery but all is well now. Can't put weight on my right leg for 3 months but…

Hi Patrick! I'm sure somebody else's already answered your question. I appologize for not replying sooner, but just after I wrote that last message I went out for a ride on my dirt bike and crashed. Broke my leg and had to have knee surgery to put things back together.…
Hi David! This is exactly what I've been needing. The money's on the way. I've been struggling with splines for the past several days. I'm modeling a Honda CR250 motocrosser. It's been challenging and I'm learning a lot about spline modeling. One thing I seem to be having trouble with…
Hi Jerry! A penny a frame, huh? Hell, if I could get it for that I wouldn't buy the Screamer. As for taking a lot of RAM…I thought that would be taken care of with the 4 RISC boards…but I've been trying to find out all I can about the…
There's a couple of Amiga dealers in the DFW area and I'll check 'em out for pricing. –>Are you gonna offer Screamer rendering services on an outside basis ??
Hi John! I called AVID and ordered the newletter and the back issue. Thanks! –>Doyle Calvert Synergistic MultiMedia
Thanks Tony! I'm going to get the A4000. Now…I know SCSI. What's IDE? Which is better? On the Mac SCSI2 is faster than SCSI. Is an IDE drive faster than a SCSI? Thanks for being patient with an Amiga neophyte! Best! –>Doyle Calvert Synergistic MultiMedia
Looks like the 4000 is getting the nod from most of you guys in the know. I'm thinking that's the way I'll go. Would you reccommend picking one up from a dealer or mail order? I get all my Mac stuff thru the mail and have always been very satisfied.
Thanks again, John! And speaking of the Screamer, how's it performing for you guys on the seaQuest animations?
Thanks John! I subscribed to VTU 3 weeks ago, so I'll qualify for the lower subscription rate . Is there a way I can get that first issue? I'll call the number you gave and subscribe.
#Which Amiga for Toaster?
Message #68176
Hi Tony! This is addressed to you, but I'd really like everybody to chime in on this one. I've *finally* got the cash to get my LightWave workstation. Lightwave is the only thing I'm interested in doing with the Toaster right now. I can do pretty much everything else with…

Hi John! RE: LightWave Pro Newsletter What is it? How much is it? How do I get it? And when's the soonest it can be in my hot sweaty mits? Thanks! –>Doyle Calvert Synergistic MultiMedia P.S. Great work on seaQuest!
NO No NO! No insult intended with the ToasterHeads thang, (boy did I hit a raw nerve with that one!). Next time I'll choose my words a little more carefully. I aspire to ToasterHeadom myself! I'm wanting to make a T-shirt that says "I surf the LightWave". I can understand…
Hi Peter! I appreciate the offer of help. I'll need some assistance getting up to speed with the Amiga OS once I finally have my unit here in the studio. I'll have it within the next month. Every time I get close to having some free time, the phone rings…
Hi Rob! No offence intended for the ToasterHead remark! I'm working on becoming one as soon as possible. Thanks for the reply! –>Doyle Calvert Synergistic MultiMedia
Thanks for the reply! I've been hanging out here for awhile. I'm a regular in the MultiMedia Forum, the MacMedia Forum, and Macromedia's Forum but I'm just starting to get my feet wet in LightWave. I've played around with it enough to know that it's the very best option for…
Hi Glen! So you finally made it to CIS, eh? How you doin'? I got your fax a while back. Sorry I didn't give you a call. I've been very busy lately. Work's been very steady. How 'bout you? I'm getting my Toaster/Lightwave workstation in a couple of weeks. I've…
