Thanks for the reply, Mark. "EpsonQ" is showing at the top of the Page Setup requestor. The driver is already present in my devs/printers drawer. Any other ideas? I haven't printed anything for a while, but I can't recall this problem occurring in v3.2. |\ | | \|___ … it's…
EpsonQ Missing Underline
Message #41167
Hi Mark. I'm running ProWrite 3.2.3 on an Amiga 3000. I have an Epson LQ-500 printer and I'm using the EpsonQ driver. Underscored text is printing without the underscore on my printer. Is this a known problem or have I missed something in my set-up? Nevin
Thanks for the reply, John. I'll dig deeper (sigh).
Hi John. Your concatenation tip worked just fine for my brush loads. I'm now experiencing a different type of problem. From time to time, while "browsing," CanDo will seems to go out to lunch on me. The program fails to respond to any mouse clicks and the menus, while available,…
Alright! I was hoping it was possible. I'm using concatenation in other places… just never thought to apply it here. This will save me a few dozen IF statements. Let X = "Thank You!" Nevin
Loading CanDo Brushes
Message #16003
I have another CanDo 1.5 question… I would like to be able to load a brush name that's tied directly to the value of an integer variable. For example: Let X = 10 LoadBrush dh0:brush/X In this example the program would look for a brush named "10" in the brush…
Thanks for your help, John. I'll try that as soon as I log off here. 8)
#Create CanDo Card Names
Message #15779
Is it possible to build a card # in CanDo so that a GotoCard can be executed against it? For example, I want to concatenate two strings together and have them represent the name of a card. I want to be able to tell CanDo to goto the card who's…
Thanks Derek! I'll give them a call tomorrow and order the upgrade. Nevin
Yep, you're right. I tried it and it works just fine. BTW, do you know if there is maintenance update for WordPerfect that makes it compatible with 2.0? I'm experiencing streaking text with my current version.
Hi Nick. I went with the NEC Multisync 3DS. It supports a horizontal frequency down to 15khz, the controls are convenient, the picture is sharp and the price is fair. I bought mine from Lyco Computing for $597 delivered.
Both F-19 Stealth Fighter and F-15 Strike Eagle II support analogue joysticks. Spectrum Holobyte has indicated that Flight of the Intruder will support analogue sticks as well.
Thanks Bill. I'll have to contact WordPerfect about the upgrade. Are they still represented in the Amiga forums here on CIS?
Thanks Dave. I already made the decision to power up and my 3000 should arrive sometime in August. I agree about 2.0… it looks like a tremendous improvement as an OS. I just wanted to get the compatibility issues addressed. I guess I could have tried to contact all the…
Thanks Blaq. I'll look for it.
Thanks Chris. I'll mark those two off my list.
Thanks Bruce. I've already made the decision to power up. Now I think the guy that called me was looking through ads trying to talk prospective 3000 owners into buying a 2500 from his dad's store! Pretty clever marketing.
#3000… Safe or Out?
Message #29235
I just received a very interesting call from a guy tonight. I've got my 2000 up for sale as I'm "powering up" to a 3000. This guy laid on me a bunch of horror stories about 3000 incompatibility. He suggests the 2500 is a better and more useful computer. I…

Hi Rocky. You might to grab the most recent issue of PC Magazine. In it they review 20+ Super VGA monitors, including most of those in your list. The Sony CPD-1304 (I believe) was one of two monitors that received the "Editor's Choice" award.
Monitor Recommendations?
Message #27034
I have decided to power up to an Amiga 3000. I plan on selling my existing 2000 system and monitor. I would like some recommendations as to what monitor would make a good companion for my 3000. It seems like a multisync is the way to go… what's the best…
Two capacitors need to be removed. I believe their numbers were C911 and C912 but PLEASE VERIFY IT BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANYTHING TO YOUR AMIGA! I used a pair of tweezers to wiggle them out. It took me about 10 minutes.
HardFrame Problem Fixed!
Message #7623
Hi Greg. I opened up my B2000 last night and sure enough, I had the HardFrame drawing current from the board. I switched the power cable to one hanging off of the power supply. So far the problem seems to be fixed. Thanks for your help. BTW, isn't MicroSearch the…
Hardware Problems Fixed!
Message #7621
Hi Don. Just wanted to thank you for your help in identifying my keyboard problem. I removed the capacitors last night without incident. I also plugged my HardFrame directly into the power supply instead of having drawing current via the board. That seems to have corrected my hard drive woes…
Thanks Bob. Last night I removed the two capacitors and fixed my keyboard problem. I also plugged my HardFrame directly into my power supply instead of drawing current from the board. That worked too! It's like having a new computer… 8).
Thanks for the reply, Greg. I think you may have hit on something there. I'll give it a look tonight. Nevin
Thanks for the info, Don. I'll open 'er up and give it a look. Here's another problem I've been having: I have the KS 1.3 ROM installed with a Microbotics HardFrame 2000 controlling a MiniScribe SCSI 40mb hard drive. Frequently when I power on my Master Piece surge protection/power strip,…
Thanks for the reply, Betty.
Thanks Bob. I'm going to look into it further. I'll probably have a dealer make the mod for me.
Thanks for the reply, Don. What's all involved with removing the capacitors? If there's any soldering involved then I'll have to take it to my dealer. I know I'm way pass the warranty period, but is this a hardware "bug" that CBM may allow the dealers to bill them for?
#Missing 1st Keystroke
Message #7218
I have one of the first 2000s. I recently replaced my original keyboard (it had the small function keys) with a new Amiga keyboard (large function keys). Since the replacement, I have been experiencing the following problem every time I warm or cold boot the system: The first keystroke is…
Empire multitasks very nicely. I believe Ports of Call, Pirates (need lots of RAM) and Gunship will as well.
When flying balloon busting missions, immediately change your heading. The game usually has you flying straight into "Archie". I spend a lot of time circling around. When I engage I try to stay with the German plane and fire whenever possible. Practice deflection shooting… leading the target so the German…
I give enough point to get my flying ability up to a Clay Pigeon I, my shooting to Marksman I, and I split the remaining points 10/5 between mechanical and stamina, respectively. Actually, I usually died from mid-air crashes until I finally stopped being so aggressive. Another thing I learned…
I made it up to 49 kills before I died during "Bloody April" (4/17). Had two medals and was a Lieutenant Colonel at the time. Hope you live to experience it…
Make sure you're executing the FastMemFirst command in your startupsequence. I'm running it from a 2000 with 512K chip and 2.5mb Fast RAM. The hard drive utility installed it without difficulty on my 2000. I also run the program from Workbench with all windows closed sans the WINGS window. Good…
Here's a couple: Fire Power from Micro Illusions, Falcon from Spectrum Holobyte and Professional Football Simulator from MicroSearch(I think). There are also several war games that a more obscure company produced at one time. I also think Empire (in the Games library) supports modem play.

Don't count on TVS Baseball any time soon. According to a recent issue of Computer Gaming World, the small company that was working on TVS Baseball has filed a $20 million suit against Cinemaware. It seems Cinemaware cancelled the project and then attempted to block the company from marketing the…
Projectyle Any Good?
Message #38
Hi. I had left a message about this earlier but it was lost in the forum conversion. The current issue of Computing Gaming World had a very favorable review of the EA import game Projectyle. I was wondering if anyone here on CIS has played the game and if so,…
Thanks for the info, Bob. Yes, did perform the QUICK bankrupt as that's what the HardFrame docs recommended. I'll get back to you after I've tried the regular format command. Thanks again, Nevin
One of the advantages of the HardFrame controller is it automounts. I'll have to go back and take a closer look at what I have after I format. Thanks for your comments. Nevin
And a very expensive bookend at that (sigh). Thanks for your comments. My FastFileSystem is dated 10/89. Nevin
