ProVideoPost crash 2.1
Message #185636
Help! I just updated the A2000 we use for a character generator to 2.1 and now ProVideo Post crashes just after it loads the fontlist! Does anyone know a fix? Or if Shereff Systems is still around? This is an emergency! Bil
GVP termination?
Message #185565
I am getting erratic read/write errors and I suspect termination problems in an A2000 rev 4.3 w/2.04 rom + WB2.1, 2 2mb C= boards, GVP Series II SCSI host adapter, HP hard drive. The HP can be set to terminate and bus supplies term power or terminate and drive supplies…
Gould & Ali Injunction?
Message #185564
Sample me as well if you would Marion. You may want to include extras for our user group members to sample as well. It'll make news! Bil Swartz AmiCON: The Amiga Central Ohio Network PO Box 20652 Columbus, OH 43220 614/459-9386 woovis@infinet.com
Sony & Spectrum?
Message #182971
I'm seeking help in creating the monitor driver/screen modes for a Sony GVM-2000 multisync on an EGS Spectrum equipped A3000/25. I've got a fairly good 720×480 EGS VGA screen, but can't seem to get the settings perfect for higher resolutions. The owners manual on the Sony does have a timing…
You'll need a program called SetBatt, or Battmem, or SCSIPrefs. At least 2 are on Fish. These proggies manip the SCSI settings stored in the 3000's battery backed memory area. Now you have to tell me what kind of battery I need to get to replace mine with! Bil 73357,121…
Thanks for the note Bill, I'll look VERY forward to hearing from you on the parts and software to link BOSS to Ami! Please keep me posted… Bil 73357,121 woovis@infinet.com
Paul, I too have found that the Palmtop forum has a lot of info in it… including a pcx picture of how to build the cable. It does require a MAC233A chip which I am having trouble finding a source of. Besides the chip, you are right, it needs a…
As others have stated, you may find it worthwhile to look into the Palmtop forum here on CIS. There is talk of a PCX bitmap file that details how to build a cable. I'd imagine that is more than half the battle as the cable must do voltage correction and…
#Casio 2 Amiga link?
Message #178984
Does anyone have any experience or info on linking Casio BOSS pocket organizers to the Amiga? I have the SF4600BX and from what I've seen, uses a cable that looks like male stereo mini-plugs on each end to link 2 organizers together. Casio does sell a PC link kit but…
#FITS loaders
Message #95128
Thanks for all the good info Ben. I've browsed some of the NASA info attached to the FITS images and can see that the info does take on some variation. You are right though, that's the cool stuff. The Opal's in a 3000 so no prob on chip ram. I've…
help with scsi/ram+
Message #89247
GVP Tech, I am assisting a user group member who has installed a GVP SCSI/RAM+ in his A1200. It seems to have prepped a hard drive and is using it accordingly but no luck with an Archive Viper 2150S tape drive. I don't think he has the name of the…

#Converting Aerosmith
Message #42132
Well I may as well start the onslaught of messages about playing or converting the Aerosmith song 'Head First' (to get it, GO AEROSMITH). I've tried AmiSOX 3.3 and Play16 with no luck. They don't handle the compressed WAV format known as ADPCM. Sox does support ADPCM .AU files, but…
OK, FaaastPrep has low level formatting, and bad sector mapping and testing as well, I assume? By devices, I meant can FaaastPrep be used with an A3000 sporting the default scsi.device instead of any GVP specific ones, like gvpscsi.device. Some proprietary prep software will not see devices on the scsi…
No, RDPrep has no formatting capability. Does that FaaastPrep let you change the device from gvpscsi.device to plain old scsi.device? Another question for the masses: QBTools has no low level format… Does AmiBack Tools have either a low level or dos level format ability? // \X/ -BiL-
I have tried entering the bad blocks that I have listed from the mfg's sheet, but there must be new ones that need tested to find them. Is this what your are referring to by a "Bad Block Remap" ? // \X/ -BiL-
#Low Level Format Needed
Message #136290
I have been searching long and hard for a low level formatting utility. I am using an A3000 and the drive in need or help is a Siemens SCSI drive. Unfortunately, after a crash, I tried to re-write the RDB after changing partition information from the way it was working.…
Can you elaborate on to what degree that PS3 will be able to load PPage pages? And the obvious question has to be asked: when will PS3 be shipping? Thanks, Bil
#ProPage to PageStream?
Message #128801
Does anyone have an effective method for sharing ProPage pages with users of PageStream? Our user group newsletter editor is using PageStream however many would be contributors are using ProPage and we need to bridge this gap. I know we can easily share text which he must then layout, but…

The Dayton MicroComputer Assoc. sponsors Computerfest anually at Hara Arena. This year's fest is Aug. 28-29 and is 10-6 and 10-5 Sat. and Sun. respectively. Tickets are $5.00 in advance and $6.00 at the door and is good for both days. Central Ohio Amiga User Groups have display tables in…
I too use OpalPaint and am looking for a tablet. They guys at Opal really seem to like the WaCom tablets, and there is built in support for them. Perhaps a deal will turn up at the Dayton Computerfest this month!
Your arexx scripts should be whereever you have REXX: assign too…check with the assign command from a cli. If you don't have a subdir named rexx for your scripts somewhere then the system defaults to use S: and assigns REXX: to there. Hope that helps.
I too would think a later rev less buggy chip will make all the difference. I have found a source in Wyle Labs, a multi-maker chip distributor. They have many variations on this chip and the one I think is the latest is the 33C93B-PL 00-04. There is another designation…
The problems I have had in the past with this early rev scsi chip have been rather intermitent (sp?) as I have added things. Inside the 3000 I have 2 HDs, then I added an NEC CDR-80 in an external chassis, then a MCD-40 tape drive, then a big Siemens…
#3000 SCSI CHIP NEEDED

#Scanning for Faxing
Message #56817
I am trying to get a method down for scanning full page (8.5 x 11) documents with the ES300/ADPro for faxing and am having trouble getting the proper aspect ratio. The GPFax docs spec a full page at 1728 x 1144 minus margins. I find a 1680 x 1136 looks…
Gracia, I don't recall if the Canon in question is the pj-1080a but if it is, I have used it succesfully with an A3000 and prefprinter under both 2.1.3 and 2.3. Hope this helps narrow it down. -BiL-
Success was stocking the AB20. I ahve not specifically looked for it lately but I'm sure it's worth the look. The Graphics Volume 1 archive or whatever disc I looked at there was pretty lame. 2 whole gifs on the disc. Dumb. Gif's Galore is good as is Danger Hot…
I didn't think there could be anything wrong with the AB20 disc except the boot block problem. I honestly don't see what that disc's attraction is as I have only pulled a thing or two from it. I'd like to see a physik or wuarchive disc to tell you the…
You don't think Creative would sell you a disc that woudln't work? Have you asked them about there stock of mothers and kitchen sinks? Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! -Bil-
What sort of install problem did you have Karl? I just did my install of 2.3 today and all seems well. // \X/ -BiL-
Thanks Karl, I need my Higher-Arky adjusted. That's what happens when you grow up in Kentuck! Hey, I have an AB20 disc, and as far as I can tell it is just as 9660 as any other I have, including gifs galore, fish on cd, etc. It must be the…
We looked at doing that too but decided it was too time consuming to persue right now. I hoped that Imagine 3.0 bones feature would let us insert bones and tack the outside faces to the bone segments to achive this. We did notice that the object appears to have…
Hand is up, sign me up. I was one of those that caught a deal on the NEC CDR-80 when it got dumped. Kinda slow but works well. Didn't you help me out of my termination woes on that project? :{) I also saw BD-Girl mentioned…does anyone know if a…
#ADPro update
Message #52107
Dear gang at ASDG: I recently saw a post on the net refering to version 2.2 as shipping with the Power up deal (ADpro that is) so I am wondering when we commoners will be updated. And I know I've asked this a thousand times…do we have a NASA loader…

Message #52104
Rick- Uhg. Is that 4mb ram requirement etched in stone? I have a Compaq 386/25e that has a max capability of 3.6 mb (if I can find one more 1mb ram module for the card) so let me know if I'm really bummin'. I was planning to offload some rendering…

Message #90087
Some great prices on some great stuff I'm trying to help a friend sell so he can upgrade along the Amiga path. Help him out! Amiga 2000, Rev 6, 2 floppy drives, 2.04 and 1.3 roms on kickswitch type of board (software switchable), AmigaDos 2.1 disks and manuals. $500.00 OBO…
I too have had strange behavior form gif loads from cdrom, but usually a retry gets it there. Methinks it is my old NEC CDR-80 which is so slow that causes the problem. I am sending my CDROM-FS disk off to Hypermedia for upgrading so that may help since I…
Yes I know how hard the decision is to make on which graphics display to go with. It was real hard for me not to just add an A1200, but I am really happy (read ecstatic) with Opal. Right now, the only way I know to play Opal anims is…
#ADPro gif loading probs
Message #49969
I am having trouble loading some gif's into ADPro. They have the gif89a signature in the file, but also have a thumbnail which loads first, then I get the Now Loading Next Image message but loader errs 3/4 thru the load. I have loaded other animated gifs and ended up…
5.25 disks to 3.5" disks
Message #49966
There is a freely distributed program called the A64 package that will do what I think you need. I was never a 64/128 user so don't kill me if I'm wrong. There is a source in that file for hardware that will let you hook up your 5.25 drive and…
John, So far I just love Opal. Got the latest update to OpalPaint off their bbs last night but havn't tried it yet. Still OpalPaint is almost like a paintbox, really well done. Yes, 8bit anims are 768×236 but 24bit anims are 386×236. I have not heard any discussion yet…
I too have been using Opal since the WOC Toronto, and would have to mark it as an excellent product. The real deciding factor for me to buy Opal was the animation capability. Centaur seems committed to the development and support of Opal, and they maintain a bbs in CA…
Thanks for noting the vote. What can I do to temp you further to give PDraw module read capabilities back? Look at all that nice structured clipart just crying out to be turned into 3d objects! Listen closely, you can hear them chanting "We're here we're here we're here! "
Behold, are you truly an Impulse representative that regularly reads this forum? Sorry for the sarcasm but many questions have gone unanswered. Many wonder as to any improvements and bug fixes needed in Imagine 3.0, such as correction of the fog/transparent objects and brushmap backgrounds bug. I am also wondering…
I would vote in favor of being able to dl the latest converters. That is what I have been looking for in electronic tech support and upgrades. It is a timely and efficient distribution method for those of us who call. BTW, can we load PDraw clips yet?!? ;{)
Your schedule is sounding a little like mine! Thats what makes using this ol' 'lectronic format so nice. If you have a spare minute and can type some enlightenment my way re: the fog/transparency and brushmap objects bug I would truly appreciate it!
Yes, a little late on that reply. I would have like to meet you in Toronto. I had 2 others with me and needless to say it was a party. Anyway, if you don't remember I am trying to get around the fog object/brushmap bugaloo. I take it your phone…
Merging memory refers to moving the addresses of diferent chunks of memory so that those addresses are next to each other…permiting the memory to be used as one large 'contiguous' block. This is done primarily on machines that have say 2 or 3 2 meg cards using the good ol'…
