Dear Lawrence: I haven't downloaded 2Balls, but I thought it was a small animation. The cleanup error 3 message means that it ran out of memory opening the second (double buffered) screen. This is before it read more than the first image from 2Balls. Here are some things to try:…

My public domain movie package (DILBM/PILBM/MOVIE) left out one important detail in the documentation. In order to perform compression, all the images must use the same color map (palette). If this is not the case DILBM will produce an informative error message, and then print out so much information that…

Now I know what you mean by selected pixels. The Tri-View has that funny behaviour because you are changing the size of a 3-D block of space, so changing the size of one window changes the size of others. It seems that if you do mouse activity while this is…

I share your concern about the time it takes to render images in SCULPT 3-D. If you only need to preview a scene to check the arrangement of objects, try the wire frame mode. Otherwise use the smaller image sizes for previewing ray traced images, they run much faster. There…

The answer is 'not yet'. We provided a few homogeneous textures: dull, shiny, mirrored, semi-transparent and luminous. Texture and contour mapping is quite straightforward for ray traced rendering, but a good user interface is more illusive. Objects in SCULPT 3-D can be interactively modified, so the question is: how should…

Shalom: What a great application! People are already using SCULPT 3-D for molecular modeling, landscape gardening, traditional sculpture, architectural design, game design and aircraft modeling, but yours is the most humanitarian use, so far. SCULPT 3-D has a very different internal structure from Videoscape. For example, SCULPT allows one object…

SCULPT 3-D, my new ray tracing, 3-D solid modeling system started shipping by Byte by Byte last monday, July 27. It has a mouse driven interactive interface for building objects and renders shaded polygons (like VideoScape) as well as raytracing for more realistic images including smooth shading (Phong), shadows, reflections…
