#12848 Update 1 -> 2 Message #12863
From: Caligari Gfx User Group A Forum · trueSpace UG May 30, 1995 6:19 PM
The info from Mr. Obermueller is correct. The only free upgrades are from the English 2.0 to the German 2.0 version. You were better off buying the English version of trueSpace at a special price at CeBIT and upgrading than if you had waited to buy version 2 straight out.…
#12844 furniture wanted… Message #12862
From: Caligari Gfx User Group A Forum · trueSpace UG May 30, 1995 6:14 PM
This sounds like an interesting project. We are working on a 3D environment that will be accessible over the World Wide Web and would be interested in seeing some of the furniture. If we include any, you would get full credit, of course. The tutorial for trueSpace2 will include tutorials…

trueSpace2 will be accelerated by any card for which there is a 3DR driver available (including Glint chips). This includes the Impression Plus and to our knowledge will also include the Millenium (couldn't hurt to check with Matrox though to get a date for the availablity of the driver). I…

Version 2 is not out yet. I expect that we will be able to start shipping on May 31.

trueSpace2 will let you save out paths since this is something game developers had requested a while back. However, since nobody (until now) has asked us to read in paths, this will not be in trueSpace2. But if you have good ideas (besides this one) why we should add this…
#12587 TrueSpc & gif/jpg Message #12650
From: Caligari Gfx User Group A Forum · trueSpace UG May 25, 1995 12:41 PM
Conversion utilities like Graphics Tools, capture programs like Hi-Jack or Image editing software like Photoshop or Picture Publisher can convert from TGA to JPEG or GIF. trueSpace2 will render directly to JPEG. We also had planned on GIF and TIFF support, but had to pull this out because UNISYS is…
#12558 New Product Message #12584
From: Caligari Gfx User Group A Forum · trueSpace UG May 24, 1995 12:58 PM
Sounds good. We are currently looking for artists working on our central area, and we are going to be fairly selective about that since it will be our main company image ofr years to come. However, we will later offer to host user spaces on our server, and we will…
#New Product Message #12503

Tomorrow we will be announcing our second Windows product, which we plan to unveil at SIGGRAPH in August. I just thought I would give you a preview since you are among our most loyal supporters (whether you praise or criticize us, we think of you as supporters because you do…

In the e-mail world of rapid, but sometimes shallow replies (I'm a culprit of those as much as anyone), I really appreciated your thoughtful answer. Thanks!

We announced yesterday (over Business Wire) that Sony Computer Entertainment is now shipping trueSpace for PlayStation. Anybody here planning to develop games for the PlayStation? The official PlayStation release party was yesterday–even Michael Jackson showed up and played some games (after his security people booted me off the machine) .…

Movement of the eye seems to perform quite differently on different cards/systems. We have an Intergraph box with Windows 95 here that does it amazingly fast. The MGA Impression Plus seems to be particularly slow in wireframe mode, but it *is* very nice when trying to move the eyepoint in…
#11878 Shadow effects Message #11884
From: Caligari Gfx User Group A Forum · trueSpace UG May 11, 1995 11:36 AM
David, try setting the shadowmap size to high, and shadow sharpness to low, that should give you a nice smooth shadow with soft edges. If that doesn't work, try the same with ray turned on, but be ready to wait a while. Let me know how it turns out! I-Wei,…
#11790 Animation Speed Message #11826
From: Caligari Gfx User Group A Forum · trueSpace UG May 10, 1995 3:51 PM
You can change the wireframe playback speed by shortening the bars in the animation project window. The frames per second setting is fairly simple. When you render an animation of lets say 180 frames and choose the 30 FPS option, then you get 6 seconds of animation.

#11491 #TS 2.0 & DXF Files Message #11542
From: Caligari Gfx User Group A Forum · trueSpace UG May 6, 1995 5:52 PM
We initially got some suggestions for improvement for DXF import when releasing 1.0. The DXF loader of trueSpace has gone through several revisions since 1.0 was released. Judging by the feedback we have received, our users seem to be satisfied now with the DXF import in 1.04. But don't take…
#11348 trueSpace 2.0 Message #11469
From: Caligari Gfx User Group A Forum · trueSpace UG May 5, 1995 7:11 PM
As of now there is only one plug-in standard under Windows, which is the Photoshop plug-in standard. trueSpace has become the most widely used animation package for Windows, but we would still prefer to create a standard that will work across applications and not just inside trueSpace.

Since you wanted an answer from a Caligari person, I guess I have to chime in and say "yes". I think quite a few people in this user group have used the DXF import function on occasion.

The most current version is 1.04. There are 3 patches to bring you up to 1.04. You can download these from our BBS (415) 390-0585. If you would prefer I could send you a copy of the patches on disk. Please let me know. Stephen Chan

Matrox is best bet for trueSpace2 for now. If you can wait 3 or 4 more months, you will have additional attractive choices, but if you wait another 3 or 4 months you will have more choices again . . . I guess we have to jump at some point.
#11209 tS2.0 Features Message #11226
From: Caligari Gfx User Group A Forum · trueSpace UG May 2, 1995 4:51 PM
Plug-ins can be keyframed, but you can not change parameters that you adjust in the plug-in itself (rather than the plugin interface in trueSpace). Basically, it boils down to what we have control over . .

Yes, we'd like to do that. We are in the process of hiring more people, so I think we can have someone participate regularly by the end of the month. Please bear with us as we are expanding. We have made some mistakes in the past about hiring people very…

The original offer was $100 off of list, or $695. We have a new, improved offer which is $449 for trueSpace, the Razor video editor, and the trueClips CD. We would need to have proof of purchase of the Matrox board prior to having the order placed. For more information,…

Ok…. Here are my thoughts on the reboot prob. It looks like a fetal memory error in windows (which is not displayed). The error could be coming out of the graphics driver or another driver that is getting hosed. The system memory becomes unstable when you put that kind of…
