Stephen, If this is taking too much time, then feel free to say so and we can discontinue this conversation. I understand if you need to spend your time on others things. I am assuming that you believe that a prj file is not necessary, is this right?. If there…
Stephen, Also in the 3ds.set file is shading mode, antialiasing and pixel size. but ha, I'm easy(don't tell my wife)if this is what Dave wants to do its Ok with me. What do you think Dave? Regards…………Rick – Technical Animations

Caneron, Thanks for that info, if I get a chance I will check into those jumper settings and see what happens. Regards……….Rick – Technical Animations
John, Are you using a dual boot setup? Regards………….Rick – Technical Animations
Stephen, >>Reality being what it is, and this not paying any bills as someone remarked a few weeks ago, I suppose we'd best be satisfied with what we can get.
Brandon, >>Well, sort of and sort of not. I have wanted to do some forensic work, even talked about a few cases with a couple attorneys, but so far no real jobs have come in.
Stephen, How long do you think the Pentium render times will be when the chevy file is big enough for the Alphas. We don't want to make it long for the Pentium, some people may not do the render for the benchmark and send the times in. AT 1280×1024 my…
Kelly, Please make sure its OK with them before I include them in the list. If its Ok, then I would need the complete info on them, including Areas Worked In and Additional Info. Regards…………..Rick – Technical Animations
Kelly, >>I'd be interested in working with you…It's interesting to me.
John, When I run Dos 6.22 defrag I loose my profile and have to reconfigure again. Wonder what is different about your system? Regards…………Rick – Technical Animations
Dave, I have a dual boot system. When I run Dos 6.22 Defrag I lose my Profile. When I start NT 3.51 I get the message, "Your profile cannot be loaded. A copy of your default profile will be loaded instead." I have to reconfigure NT with my personal preferences…
Dave, You might try the "NTWORK" forum, its sponsored by the Windows NT magazine. They are not affiliated with Microsoft and should give you a pretty fast response. Regards……………Rick – Technical Animations
Stephen, I rendered the Chevy.3ds file again with our new settings for our benchmark standard, this is what I got. SuperMicro P55CMS P100 w/Pipelined Burst Cache, 32mb ram, 60ns ram, 2.1GB Fast SCSI HD, Adaptec 2940w SCSI controller. 1280×1024, Metal, Null Device, Pixel Size=1.5, Didn't Save the File, 3DSr4c1 Mapping…

Kelly, >>Brandon was a joy to work with.
Stephen, Those settings look good to me, but I better render it with those setting and let you know. Regards………..Rick – Technical Animations
Brandon, >>Thanks. But thank Kelly Dove for editing it to make it sound more personable. How's the Animator's list coming?
Ernie, >>Yeppers. Wincim address book importation is a "go" in Navcis!
Mike, >>He temporarily installed my PVR in his box and it didn't crash or hang with his matrox video card, so keep your fingers crossed .
Brent, I read that unless your are planning to use more than 10 machines that NT workstation will do fine. I'm sure you will get more comments directly from those that really know and can probably tell you why this is so. Regards…………..Rick – Technical Animation
Mike, Nicely put about Mark. I think the big fish is getting closer now. I get my scale out every day and measure, I can tell its getting closer to dinner time. Regards………….Rick – Technical Animations
Stephen, >>I agree with most of what Rick Miller says, about creating a .PRJ to d/l for those who want to participate, with but one quibble.>But getting it with a higher resolution than 800×600 is going to keep anyone with a 2-meg video card from participating.
Cameron, >>if you have a 2.5clk jumper, you can set the p133 to 60mhz ext speed and 2.5 clk =150mhz
Mike, Kelly is the executive editor, she might have alittle pull around there. If all you need is the phone number here it is (800)829-2505. Regards………..Rick- Technical Animations
Dave, I really think you are right. I had some good times(I think), but I would hate to stand up in front of everyone and proclaim that I had the "x" fastest time. There's no way to know for sure, just too many questions about the data. I would suggest…
Eric, Thanks for checking Eric, but did you see Wincim as an import possibility. Bill Triffet checked out the import capabilities of NavCis and said it could import WinCim. If thats true then it should work with CSNav, since WinCim and CSNav are both CIS products and use the same…
Bill, WinCim and CSNav use the same filing cabinet and address book, which means there should be no problem importing them into CSNav. Thanks for checking that out for me. Regards…………..Rick – Technical Animations
Kelly, Well… I'm a pretty shameless person. No problem, it was the least that I could do!!! Regards…………..Rick – Technical Animations
Bill, Do you know if NavCis can import CSNav's filing cabinet and address book. I'm not real happy with the program and I am thinking about changing. Maybe there are others that would if NavCis doesn't. Regards……………Rick – Technical Animations
Doug, I love the way you are keeping your tips numbered, it makes it so much easier to follow. I will file them for future reference. Maybe you could upload the complete list of tips to the library when you are done. Motherboards – The SuperMicro P55CMS(Pipelined Burst Cache) has…
Timothy, Good luck with your plans, see you around. Regards…………………Rick – Technical Animations
Timothy, It lools like maybe the IDE drives don't perform as well as SCSI. Martin Foster did a test with this situation, here is part of his message. >>I have some rendering machines which have the same RAM and CPU, but some have just a standard 500mb IDE drive, others…
Timothy, >>I asume that if everything takes place in ram the hard drive never gets a single hit during a test like this.
Timothy, >>>> Mapping-Off Mapping-On 640x480x1.0 0:20 1:22 1024x768x1.0 0:39 2:45
Stephen, >>I think most of the times uploaded were with Metal shading.

Forensic Article in Mag.
Message #194758
For those that like to read about forensic animations there is an article in "3D Design", its in their premiere issue. The Forensic Animator List (Forlst.txt) thats in the "Index & Info" library was given a full page in the article, all 22 companies were shown. The list is getting…
Cameron, Very nice times!!! How do you speed up your Pentium, is there a jumper that makes the change in clock speed? Regards……………..Rick – Technical Animations
Timothy, I commend you for having the knowledge and time to put together a system yourself. It looks like the SuperMicro motherboard is definitely one of the best to have. The times seemed to be within a few seconds of the times I had, although its hard to know for…
Mike, >>FWIW, in a private EMail back to me regarding the problem, Dave White of Matrox didn't even know what the PVR was.
Douglas, No problem on this end. I was only partly serious about about buying your P133? when you upgraded. Regards…………….Rick – Technical Animations
Mike, Just remember if you need Com4, it will not be usable with a Diamond video card. Mark could tell you more about this conflict. Regards……………..Rick – Technical Animations
Mike, >>I spoke to Dan.x at DPS Canada today and he told me that as of this moment, he's not comfortable recommending the Matrox since they've had a number of PVR customers call in with problems.>I've decided to conduct a "straw poll" here and ask PVR users what they are…
Rob, Thats excellent news!!! I had already committed myself to buying the Millennium, looks like I made the right decision. Now if the PVR will just work with the Millennium, rumors say there might be a problem. Regards……………..Rick – Technical Animations
Stephen, >>This is indeed a disturbing rumor about Milleniums and PVRs.
Mike, >>Mark mentioned your MIND 100 was blowing away the rendering records for some 57 Chebby, where is all this stuff?
Bob, >>I like bustin' the chops of a dealer/vendor now and then .>…send them my business is how I hope to encourage them to continue to stay involved in the forum.
Douglas, Sounds like a good deal for you, thanks for getting back to me. Regards……….Rick – Technical Animations
