I bought a 386sx 20 mhz with an 85 meh HD and built-in SVGA, 2 HF floppy drives and 2 megs of ram for $890.00. The BB will HAVE to be priced below $700 to make it attractive to more then a few people. Tim
Where in the UP do you live? Also what is it you need? aread and awrite? I missed your origonal post. Tim
Really? Wow the local dealers here are still selling them for $1898.00 including monitor. Could be there still have a left over supply of them that they ordered under the rebate or something. I did just see a used A3000 25/50 on the internet go for $1500, this did not…
Problem is, you can get an A3000 with everything your A2000 has, including monitor and a 32 bit bus and Zorro III slots etc. for $1,800 Edu with CBM's extended rebate. and a used A3000 can be had for $1,500. preation on computer hardware is horrid!! I paid $575 for…

What do you mean sound doesn't work right on an A3000?? I've had this demo running on my A3000 for almost a month now, and the sound is just fine.
Amax II Plus is also for the A3000, in fact it works better with an A3000 then with an A2000 due to the flicker free viedo and faster CPU, MMU etc. etc. etc. Tim
Heh, The only way you are going to use a bridgeboard in an A500 is to get a bogeda bay first (or similar expantion box) and then toss in a BB. A500's have no built-in Zorro II/III slots, and the BB's from CBM at least need at least one. The…
Sound like you have the power supply plugged in backwards, try turning the plug upside down and plugging it in, and hope you did not fry your drive. Tim
ACK!! that should have said SVGA card not SCGA!! sheesh! Tim
Hmmm sound like you might want to get the ATonce 16 mhz version. I do belive it has an adaptor that lets you use it with your A2000, and it also lets you display up to VGA mono graphics, I would think EGA at prehaps 16 color would be possible…
The BB uses it's own RAM. The 286 BB comes with 1 meg of ram. You can use the Amiga hard drive, monitor and paralell port (limited) with the BB's. They also make use of the AT/XT slots that an A2000/A3000/A3000T has. This lets you add things like VGA, Ram,…
Marion, Yep, after foling with it a bit more, I relised that I had changed the address from F to E and that seemed to be what made com2 work…odd this beast!
According to a post on Usenet from a CBM dealer in Canada, the 386 Bridgeboard will be as follows. 386SX processor running at 20 mhz with a 10 mhz fallback mode. Socket for a 387 math chip. comes with 1 meg expandable on the motherboard to 8 megs of ram…
Id recomend it, you will love a mu;ti-sync once you get one, its the price you have to pay for one that you wont love. But that will pass Tim
Sorry, you will have to add a VGA monitor to your 2002 and use the VGA monitor for the non-flicker mode, or better still, get a multi-sync. The reason you cant use the 2002, is due to its limit of 15.75 khz display. The way flicker is removed, is by…
You know whats REAL odd Marion? I have the STB multi-function card from ATOP also, and guess what? It lets me use COM2 with no problems!!! Blew me away! I have a 2400 baud modem running off it (in fact im typing this on it via Q-Modem). I don't understand…
oope that should be set cpu mot cup 😉
They work just fine with 2.04, I use the 286-BB on my A3000, and in fact am using it right now with Q-modem to leave this message. You might have to move binddrives to the start of your startup-sequence and if you have an acc. Amiga, set cup noburst as…
that should be CPU not cup
what you need to do is run enforcer before binddrivers in your startup-sequence. Or set cup with no databurst That should take care of your problem in getting your drive to boot. Tim
A agree Marion, that the only reason I went with ATOP rather then order the multi-function card from STB. There suport turned out to be ok, and so I don't mind paying more for that extra support. Now I think i'll see if I can get them to find a…
I have used a Boca VGA 16 bit VGA card with the 286-BB with no problems so thats one that I know works. Also the STB (avaible from STB or ATOP) sells a multi-function card uncluding Super VGA and various ports etc. that also runs fine with the 286. Tim
You do get the 1 meg version of the board for your $300.00 so thats good but then you could jut order the 1 meg version from STB also. the only other thing you get is a sheet with the various jumper settings for use with the brigeboard, and other…
sure if you like 😉 Tim
Jim, Yea, it was a bit of a help. the ATOP did call me back this morning, so they just went up 1 notch in my book for support. I told the guy about the J7 jumper problem, and his responce was 'oh my! I had no idea' heh but…
Yep it's an STB systems inc. PowerGraph combo. I belive you can order it from the computer shopper and for less then the $299.00 that ATOP charges. I went ahead and ordered it from ATOP for the bridgeboard configuration card that came with it, but that was really of no…
There is NO Amiga emulator for the IBM or any of it's compatibles at this time. It would be VERY hard for any IBM from a 486-33 with XGA on down to be able to emulate an Amiga due to the Amiga's custom chip-set. Im not saying it's impossible form…
Well, when I got my 286 BB they were still $1000 so there went 1/2 of that $2000 right there. I was also using retail prices, one can't always find the used equipment that one needs. For example, a used multi-function card as complex as mine is no where to…
I just bought the Multi-function card from ATOP also, and while the documentation that came with it was in error in so far as setting two of the Dip switches, now that I have it working I am MOST pleased with it. It gives you S-VGA 1024x768x256 2 serial ports…
Well, I finally solved the problem. The DIP switch that the ATOP people tell you to set J7 and J8 are reversed! you need to select alt and enable JRQ2 which is just the oppisite of what they tell you to do……sigh. I called the ATOP people this afternoon and…
#ATOP problems
Message #50389
I just installed the ATOP multi-function card in my A3000 and have a problem with it. Namely, the fakec partition wont boot anymore. I dont yep have an IDE hard drive, and have just the one 1.44 meg floppy drive, so I configured the boards jumper settings as was shown…
Heh….A sad but true statment…I myself have often wondered if CBM was around so that various board members amuse themselves by seeing just how f-ed up they can make there company. When and *IF* the 386 BB comes out, no dought it will be far less then what it should…
Yea, I have heard about this beast also. Will belive it when I see it tho. I have also heard that it's in Europe now….but no one on any of the nets eems to have one yet. Lets hope they have fixed all the bugs that the old BB's had,…
Im wondering if this thing will someone cure the problem the 286 BB has when trying to run Windows 3.0 in Standard mode. From what I hear it will not run windows 3.0 in standard mode due to some bug inthe 286 BB's dule-ported ram or gate arrey or something…
No I did not know about Jameco's slot extender, please fill me in. Tim
Adding XT/AT slot
Message #49297
Ok as promised, here is the hack to add another slot to your A3000 for the bridgeboards. From frith.egr.msu.edu!wille Thu Sep 12 12:00:24 1991 Return-Path: Received: by ais.org (/\=-/\ Smail3.1.18.1 #18.20) id ; Thu, 12 Sep 91 12:00 EDT Received: by frith.egr.msu.edu (5.61/1.34) id AA19049; Thu, 12 Sep 91 11:59:51…
I have a message that I will post here from a guy who has added another XT slot to his A3000. Tim
Marion, Thanks for the number!
Jim, Thanks for the responce, sounds promissing, I also have found out that it's possible to add a 3rd AT slot to the A-3000 via a Y-Card/hack I got the info. from a guy who has done this on use-net. If you or anyone on here is interested in that…
#A-Top phone #
Message #49111
Does anyone have the phone number for ATop? that company that is making the AT-Brideboard 386 acc.? I belive they also have a VGA/multi-function card combo, and im very interested in this card and possible the 386 add-on if CBM does not decide to come out for or rather with…
Cutting Edge works just fine for me also! Tim
Mine also auto-configed with no problems. Tim
Let me find my file on it and I will post it here for you. It involves lifting pin 6 of u (I forget the chip) and attaching a wire to it and running that to J17 (I think) pin 31 Like I said, let me find me file on…
It's not an Amiga Stuffit extracter, I belive I must have mis-read your message. It is unstuffit deluxe that runs on the Mac/Amax. I use it with A-max II. Sorry! Tim
Well, ok prehaps a lego set. 😉 Tim
It booted just fine for me under 2.0 on the A3000 as well. Tim
You must be kidding? WHAT LIMIT on RAM???? you call 18 megs on the motherboard and the ability to have 2 gigs via a Zerro III card a limit?? Sheesh! Hardware glitches?? Huh? I have none. I use the A2286 BB with a VGA card, A-Max II a lazer printer…
Most odd, I got a Sharewhere unstuffit deluxe from Genie, and it works 100% of the time on all the new stuffit formats on my A3000 with amax partition and system 6.0.3 and 6.0.4 I can upload it here if you guys like. Tim
oops, I noticed that hte editor here did not get my after run >nil: cpu nodatacache It should be run >nil: cpu nodatacache binddrivers Not on the same line!! Tim
