SuperPaint 2.0a vs IIci
Message #50564
Lori – Two weeks ago, I traded in my trusty MacPlus for a IIci – System 6.0.5 with 8*24 card and Apple 13-inch color monitor. Apparently, SuperPaint 2.0a doesn't get along with some or all of the new setup. SuperPaint will open, but when I try to open any file…
Thom – Hmmmmmmmmmm … could be. -Tom-
David – I noticed that too. Dreadful. -Tom-
Paul – I hate it when lurkers fade … -Tom-
Brad – I always thought that was "ragged right" and "ragged left" When did we lose the past tense? 🙂 -Tom-
Beth – The interface is similar, plus it can read text from formatted Word, MacWrite, and WriteNow documents. The shareware fee on McSink is $45.00. You can get Vantage mail order for $54.00. So, for the extra nine bucks, it's worth it. -Tom-
Dennis – Well, I'm not the *most* experienced in these parts (Kathleen & Co can probably provide better answers), but here goes … 1). Pre-Press is just that. All materials leading up to printing: imagestter (Lino, Varityper, CG, etc.) positives, negatives, separations, etc. 2) I think the most common technical…
Beth – Well, what exactly do you want to know? -Tom-
Earl – Well no one cajoles like you do 🙂 -Tom-
Mark – Yea, but Data's at the helm … think about it. -Tom-
#McSink vs Vantage

Beth – In a nutshell, Vantage (the commercial version) runs rings around McSink, including spell checking and macros. -Tom-
Bill – >> you'd be surprised how many of my professional peers don't believe a job is truly "typeset" unless every keystroke is punched by a typesetter.
Dennis – I think its best to work with specific questions you have. Fire away! -Tom-
Dennis – If your brother has 15 years design experience, he's no hack. I was referring to those people who "heard you could make some money in DTP." -Tom-

Jonathon – The program is already written for you. Check out Jon Wind's Add/Strip (Mac). It can do a host of conversions for you. A real timesaver. -Tom-

Bill – Thanks for sharing that. The only problem I had with your message is that you really should have put it as a new subject. (We're straying a bit too far, people. It's not all that difficult to create a new subject). Anyway, seeing stuff like that steams me…
Jonathon – You have docs available for public consumption? I'd suggest keeping them under lock and key for situations such as this. Unless you're also a training center… 🙂 -Tom-
Jonathon – Sounds like you may have to change the Split Path Resolution which was instituted in Version 1.8.3 for situations such as this. You'll find it in your Preferences dialog box. See the 1.8 update notes that came with the update. -Tom-
