I got it. Thanks to suggestions from you and Don Curtis. I don't have drive
specs, but the automatic allocations from PREP can be worked backwards.
Here's how… Info on the first (automatic) partition shows 98988 blocks
(82326 in use, 16662 free). There are also 2 reserved blocks on the first
partition for a total of 98990 blocks on that partition. That partition is
521 cyls (2-522). Dividing 98990 by 521 gives 190 blocks per cylinder. I
adjusted the blocks per track from the more standard 17 to 19 and assumed 10
surfaces. Format worked like a dream then. Thanks for your assistance.
