PMJI Having recently competed 3DS rendering with a 486-66 and targa to a 3/4 Umatic against an Amiga 2000 with excellerator card, Lightwave and frame accurate output to a SVHS7750 I can honestly say that 3DS beat the amiga so bad that the owners are now hireing me to do their animation. We used the same project and created the wireframes in each respective software. The rendering lasted 70 seconds on 3DS per frame as opposed to 21 minutes on the amiga. Granted, the reflections looked better than 3DS but overall quality, antialiasing, resolution, color purity was far superior from the targa+. The toaster is a fine video switcher for the money, but I wouldn't consider the animation capability fiscally feasable for any serious profit making work. One thing I did like about the Lightwave product is the wireframe animates during the keyframing process. 3DS uses box objects, or you have to do a low res. rendering that I very seldom use because it IMHO is a waste of time. I wonder if Gary is adding something like this for release 3?
