Right on, Tab! From time to time, I sit at an "Advice Table" at a local
computer show. My sign says "Amiga", but the questions are almost always:
"I want a computer that won't be obsolete in a few years". Hah!
"I don't know what I want to do with it, but I know I want Windows".
"I have to get MultiMedia because I don't have a CD player yet".
Hard to believe. But it's pointless trying to reason with them. Most have
a "list" given them by a friend who already has an MS-DOS machine. The list is
always that friend's wish-list. So here come these people who have never had a
computer, will not know what to do with one, and they want a Pentium system
with an 800MB hard disk and all the trimmings.
I want to shout: Buy a used 386 (the stores are glutted with trade ins),
avoid Windows, and find out what's going on in the world! But I'd be wasting
my breath. And there's no way I could say, "Have you considered an Amiga?"
