#Video converters
7 messages in this thread
I want to save animations created by 3D Studio to video tapes but I can't
afford to buy special VCR and controller. I know there are devices that convert
computer video to television video. I would like to buy the device to record
animations to video tapes while I am playing back the animations. I want to buy
a good device that does a good job of converting computer video to television
video. Any recommendations? Jeffrey.
Hi Jeffrey,
I'm in the same boat (can't yet afford the good stuff). I recently
bought a product
called "MultiPro CTV" from AITech (1-800-882-8184) that works very well. It
cost around
$250 and has, in my opinion, I nice clean signal. It is an external unit with
VGA pass-thru,
it outputs composite and S-VHS, it does not require a software driver, and
works with
DOS or Windows.
I had started with an expensive vga card ($1200) about 3 years ago and
was not
happy with the quality, I also returned another unit recently because of poor
quality of signal.
Hope this helps,

Dear Scott, Thank you very much for telling me about MultiPro CTV product. I
will call AlTech and ask them for information. Jeffrey.
Jeffrey,
Many people use the PAR to output high quality video in real time to any VCR.
Expect to pay up to $3K for this quality. Some people use the MAX which costs
more and has more system requirements, but delivers great video. If this is
out of your range, I would look at MARS (MPEG Animation Recorder System) from
Daewoo before going the video conversion route. There is a good review of this
in the library. It lists for $1500, but you could get it for less. I am
restricted to selling it in Illinois, but Daewoo could find you a dealer in
your area. Best of luck!

Dear Paul, I can't afford to buy PAR or MAX or MARS products. Someone left me a
message telling me that MultiPro CTV product from AlTech works very well and it
costs $250. Jeffrey.

If you get it, let me know how you like it. There have gotten to be
too many little black boxes to play with them all. Best of luck . .
.
I have a Multi-Pro converter and it did the job for me. Especially combined
with smacker. Smaker compresses your flics for playing real time. Anyway I have
a PAR now so I'll sell my Multi-Pro for $150. -=Mike=-
