Paul, Golly gee, Paul, I guess I don't, of course running a successfull consultancy for ten years probably doesn't count for being in and running a business in your eyes. One thing that I have learned over the last ten years is that you can have all of the product you want, but if you don't support it, it is really easy to go the he!! in a hand basket. What is interesting to me is that the assertion that in selling more than NewTek is a good thing, please tell me why NewTek is still here and GVP is gone … the difference is that NewTek supports their products and GVP did not. GVP failed because they lost sight of who their market actually was, not just the potential new users, but the users who made their market viable, the people who bought from them in the past, who upgraded their machince to take advantage of their accelerators and controlers. Yes Paul, they abandoned the people who made it possible, and when they stopped supporting their products in any cognizant manner, with the exception of one lousy tech who didn't know anything about Amiga outside of his own products, in the AmigaVendors fourm which reaches approximately only 4% of the Amiga ownership world wide, it is no wonder that they failed. They shot themselves in the foot, we watched them bleed to death, and at any time they could have stopped the bleeding and found healing. Support is what makes or breaks a company. If you scimp on that receipe, you deserve to fail. If I stop supporting my customers (existing base) then I too deserve to fail. muv — AutoPilot vs 1.80 from Mpls/St. Paul Daniel A. Tell me this then, when you have sold all of your customers or at least saturated the market for your product, how the he!! can you keep the doors open and pay the people providing this support? MOS via Autopilot & Amiga

Jim, Under no circumstances has anyone in the Amiga market saturated or sold all of the potential customers. If you build them someone will buy, and if they buy, they have the right to expect support and access to that support. GVP had an automated voice mail system that would not take messages. I explored that voice mail system twice and spent the better part of 20 minutes of long distance time discovering that fact. Their fax machine, more often than not did not pick up and answer and when it did, I could never complete a transmission due to dirty and noisy conditions. Finaly, I found some one here that was able to help me. As for your question, customers are customers. They will either be yours, or if you don't meet their needs, they will go somewhere else and shop there. muv — AutoPilot vs 1.80 from Mpls/St. Paul Daniel A. Darlington c3ltd@winternet.com
