Top Ten Reasons the Internet is Like Teen Sex
1. It's on everybody's mind all the time
2. Everyone is talking about it all the time.
3. Everyone thinks everyone else is doing it.
4. Almost no one is really doing it.
5. Everyone is concerned about the size of the bandwidth.
6. The few who are doing it are doing it poorly.
7. The few who are doing it are sure it will be better next time.
8. The few are doing it are not practicing it safely.
9. Most problems can be trace to the connectors.
10. Everyone is bragging about their successes all the time, although few
have actually had any success.
Hi Peter,
Yeah, That about sounds right…..

Last week I was in a meeting with my Internet service provider along with a
client I do engineering for. They have a commercial web page to advertise
their products. The purpose of the meeting was to determine why their sales
were so low from the web page offering. They sell video tapes of bikini
contests around the state. Should be a hot seller, right? Especially on the
internet consideration the percieved reputation it's users have. Well, the
meeting opened with the president of the service provider exclaiming that the
web page is taking two "hits" per second. When my client asked him to prove it
as he was only getting three orders per week, the provider just went into some
wild BS about sales ratio. I'm still not sure what a "hit" is in internet
lingo but I liken it to the daily population of a large shopping mall vs. the
actual sale of an item in one of the stores. At this point, the client does
much, much better with TV advertising on Late, Late Night Cable TV access
channels.
