Steve, I just got around to trying to do some rotoscoping. I had saved your description from the 23rd of June. Everything seems to work pretty well, except when the deck should go get the TGA, I get a DOS prompt superimposed on my keyframe screen saying I should contact my dealer to buy the capture option. Do you have any idea what this is all about, and would this be my Targa dealer or my Diaquest dealer? I'm using a Sony EVO9650. I do have Action Animator software. I am also using a Targa+ 16/32. I'm running my Sony deck with my DQ422 board and a 9 pin to 24 pin adapter cable. Everything else seems to be working ok. I've scoured Diaquest's manual and pricing information for any mention of a capture option. The only example I could find was in the error code section. Of course, no explanation. Groan. This country doesn't need better math and science teachers, what it needs is better technical writers <g>. Roger D. P.S. How's your chromakeyed runner coming or going? <g>

Roger,You may not have the lastest ver. of the Diaquest software. Check to see if the <TPLUSSAV.COM> file is in your Diaquest dir. if not contact Diaquest for an updated ver. Regards Steve PS I have not yet done the runner.

Steve, Do you have any experience with other controllers? After talking to my dealer this morning, I think I've had it up to my earlobes with Diaquest. Despite the fact that everything I own has Action Animator printed all over it, now they tell me for the one command I need, it'll be an additional $900 on top of the thousands they've already gotten out of me. This adds insult to injury after the fact that they wasted 6 weeks of my time when they recommended the BRS822U which turns out to be a totally nonfunctional deck for animation purposes. I'm just lucky I got my $6500 back. Then there's the software update to run the BRS822U that cost me $16, which dropped more frames than the original software. Then neither version of the software operated the Sony deck that I own. After 3 phone calls, I had to confront them at Siggraph and still make another long distance phone call to California to get the software. Another couple weeks wasted of my time. And as if that isn't enough, they have told me that they monitor this forum, yet instead of responding with a simple answer to anyone, they go ahead and let us struggle, and force people to make a long distance phone call, then wait on hold. So $900 for one goto command after what they've already cost me and charged me, _bull_. I think I might buy someone else's controller, a CD ROM, and maybe a new monitor instead. I would surely think long and hard about doing business with this company. Roger D.

Roger, I have not had that sort of experience with Diaquest. James Dillerman in tech support has been most helpful. My Diaquest purchase was about 1 1/2 years old so it cost me I think $250 dollars for the <TPLUSSAVE.COM> command. For additional $900.00 you can get the SOFTVTR software which does not use a internal board, check this one out. Try being more presistant with Diaquest, they should be aware that they are losing a loyal customer to another vendor, and if their future business is important to them then they MUST provide customer satisfaction or their bussines will not be around for the future. It is NEGATIVE feedback about a vendor that will do it harm. Regards Steve

Roger, I'll jump in here for a second to say that I've been using a VLAN VLX controller for about 6 months now with no problems. Price is around $2000. -JohnS
