I am having some problems with my A3000, it crashes and the crashes are becoming more frequent and more annoying. I can't find any sort of pattern to the crashes but I am still trying to do so. The machine passes every memory test that I have run. I borrowed a copy of "Final Test" but it seems to be for the A500 and A2000 and not for the A3000. Final Test crashes but I have no way to determine if this is unique to the A3000 or not. I am looking for a diagnostic program to try and find the problem. AC's Guide to the Amiga (summer '93 edition) lists two programs that might help, they are: Free Spirit Software's Doctor Ami and Custom Services' STU Amiga System Test Utility. The latest Grapevine ad lists a product named "Advanced Amiga Analyzer." I called them but they could give me no information on this program (although they were quite eager to take my order). When I pressed for a number that I could call for information on this program they gave me a phone number for Commodore. (Boy am I impressed with these guys!) Is anyone here familar with any of these three programs? If so, I'd sure like your opionions before I buy one of these. Thanks in advance, -J

Jay, I purchased the Advanced Amiga Analyzer from Grapevine towards the end of July. I reproduce below the fax I sent them on 2nd August. So far I have not had the courtesy of a reply Pete Jones, flying on AutoPilot from Brussels, Belgium "For the attention of: Mona or Irwin, Customer Service Grapevine Group Inc. SUFFERN, NY 10901 Subject: Advanced Amiga Analyzer I have received the above-mentioned software (your invoice 44593, dated 07/12/93). Included was a photocopy of a review of the Analyzer published in the June issue of Amiga Shopper, a magazine to which I contribute. On this copy you have carefully marked with an asterisk the section which states that the analyzer consists of four dongles, a disk, and a six-page photocopied manual. You have then carefully typed on the same photocopy a note to say that revision two of the software has now been released and that the Analyzer now consists of; a box with lights and a pass-through mouse port; new software for additional tests; and a printed manual. It concludes by saying "There are no more dongles." However, when I opened the box, I found ………..four dongles! To add insult to injury, there was no manual, not even six photocopied pages, let alone printed. Am I to assume that this is a mistake, and that you will now despatch version two, to which you were careful to draw my attention? I have already posted the above complaint on your BBS, and the Sysop advised me to contact Mona or Irwin on a 800 number which, since I am outside the States, is useless."

Given the attitude of the person I talked to on the telephone (which really left me with a bad feeling) and your experience makes me think that I'll give one of the other programs a try first. I hope they resolve your situation soon. If they don't, then send them a fax telling them that they are getting pad press here on CIS and if they don't resolve the situation to your satisfaction you will be posting a summary of your experience for all to read… I hope that will get their attention.
