#Razor Pro and PAR Proble
4 messages in this thread
To All
I am new to Razor Pro and have come across a problem that I can't seem
find in the Razor Pro book. The problem is as follows: I was editing a par ANI
file using the razor tool and removed the last frame of the animation. I then
tried to extend the single frame but was unable to. Am I not doing something
correctly?
Has anyone found a solution to this problem.
Thank You

The way to extend the last frame your talking about is by using the freeze
frame effect on the frame and stretch it out to the time frame needed. OR split
the frame using the DOS editing program that comes with the PAR. This will
create a single frame .ani file. Bring this file into RP and you should be able
to stretch it over time as a single frame.
BTW, are you using RP 1.0f?

Hi Richard –
The way I accomplish what you are doing is this …
– Set your preview highlight to _one_ frame, the single frame you are
wanting to stretch over time.
– Go to the final output settings and set a new PAR filename up for the
single frame.
– Then, select Project/Make Final (Selected Area).
– One quick render and you have a single frame .ANI you can add to your
media library and stretch as desired.
This method is a bit faster at final output time vs. using the Freeze Frame
effect, IMHO. Good luck …

Richard,
The problem you are experiencing is quite common. Here are a few different
ways to solve your problem, use your judgement on which one suits you best.
1. Use the Make Final (selected only) with the frame you need to use as the
still frame. Then import the ANI and you will be able to drag it to any length
you need.
2. If you already know the length or if you know the approx. length, the best
bet is to use the PAR DOS Application and copy that single frame to the length
you need. This process makes the rendering in RP much quicker, RP will not have
to render the sequence of frames, this process gives you the fastest render
time.
3. The easiest way to do this, but the longest in render time, is to use the
Freeze Frame effect in RP. You would split the clip as you described and then
apply the Freeze Frame Effect to the last frame.
BTW- I saw the new Speed Razor Mach III at SIGGRAPH, Wow!! What a performance
increase using it with the new PVR from DPS. All frames which have no effects
or transitions applied do not get rendered, and then the frames with an edit
applied render very fast.
