Problem 2 first. Bernie doesn't have those batteries in stock? Shame on 'im!
If I was going to just take a WAG, I'd say that's probably a mercury battery or
somesuch; long life, low drain. You should be able to get it at any
electronics store which handles either brand; if they don't have it in stock,
they should be able to order it. Whether or not they want to bother is another
thing entirely. IF you exhaust all other possibilities let me know, and I can
probably scare one up for you. Try locally first, though… it'd take forever
if I send it to you.
Okay, impedances: are you going into a low or high impedance input? Many mics
have built in matching transformers; are there any docs on the mic in the
package? (Many Shures, for example, can be converted between high and low
impedance by removing the Canon plug and swapping a jumper).
The main thing on that cable is going to be how it's wired. I wouldn't suggest
buying it until you have the battery and can check it out in the store.
Another possibility: if you are handy with a soldering gun we can walk you
through building up your own cable.

Rick, went into a ultra-tiny electronics store on a lark, and wouldn't you
know…they had the battery! Only 3 bucks too. Life can be fair.
I tried the cable out and it works too! The mic has a low-imp output. Specs
say 150-ohm balanced output with an output level of -50 dB. I'm plugging the
cable into my MT1X where each input has a slide from mic to line (-50 dB to -10
dB) and everything works great with the slide in the mic position. This mic
seems to put out more signal than my old cheapie mic.
Anyway, I don't understand how a cable makes a difference in impedance? I
thought a transformer was needed to change impedance.

Great news. I'm glad you got it all going.
The cable doesn't make any difference in impedance, but if it's wired
incorrectly, you'll get nothing. You don't always need a transformer… I have
several TF-1 modules which have balanced Canon outputs; by wiring special
cables I was able to dump them directly into 1/4" high impedance inputs on my
mixer. The down side was a loss of 3 db worth of level, but the input pads took
up that slack.
Impedance mismatch can cause everything from level problems to changes in
timbre characteristics. The important thing, though, is if it works and
doesn't hurt anything, forget it and USE it. 8)
