#QT VR render- made easy
6 messages in this thread
I know it's late, but I've been fiddling with QT VR files on the web, and would
love to see MAX render one of these files in a click of a button, instead of
having to get a MAC, and run all the images thru the stitcher, etc. A few
possible settings could be to constrain the render to one axis,
(horiz/vert/custom) or to render a full environment, allowing spherical
rotation/viewing of the world. I'm not sure what it'd take as far as a camera
type, but I'm sure Apple would embrace any efforts to make the process simpler.
It would be a great thing for VR/Game development.

Hi John,
<< MAX wish..>>
Got it.
The MAX import/export open architecture is available for developers.

Hey Jonas,
>The MAX import/export open architecture is available for developers. <
Would this include camera types? It would appear that an "omni" camera would
be needed, or else you'd have to stitch together lots of views in a MAX plug-in
(which is better than, but pretty much the same as using the Quicktime VR
software) It would be cool to have a "panorama" camera, which did this in one
shot. It'd be a great hassle / time saver.

Hi John,
<< Would this include camera types? >>
Cameras are included in the open architecture also.

On the subject of rendering from 3DS to produce images for the stitcher – how
do you set up the camera in 3DS because you cannot set them to the recommended
15mm AND 97 degree FOV. Any advice as I am getting bad stitches and feel that
this area is the cause.
What is MAX? It sounds very interesting.
Regards.

Hi Peter,

cause. >>
I'm not familiar with stitching, is this a QT VR issue?

This is the next generation of 3DS being designed and optimized for NT. Please
search the library with a Keyword "MAX" for more details.
