#C++ Compiler
3 messages in this thread
I have seen many C Compilers in shareware but no C++. I know only lattice
C++ : is it the only one ?
(my View! mail program just crashed: this may be a repeat.)
The only public version of C++ that I know of is the distribution from the
GNU folks. It is a very portable code and will likely make the transition
to the Ami without real difficulty (If it hasn't already).
As to Lattice C++, It is available, but the accounts that I have heard of
it are not good. I have heard that SAS (They bought the rights to the
Lattice compiler market) is planning a C++ version 'soon'. The Lattice
version is a pre-2.0 C++; some significant features of the language are
missing as a result.

Michael,
Lattice has been a wholly owned subsidary of SAS for about 5 years
now…so they didn't have to buy the rights to the Lattice Amiga C
Compiler, they already owned them.
There have been several stories told about why SAS decided to take
over the Amiga product. I think the one thing that is obvious (to me) is
that SAS wasn't happy with the way Lattice was handling the Amiga product.
Since SAS did a lot of the work on the earlier versions of the Lattice
product…they simply moved all the work to SAS.
