Thanx for your response. I had done what you suggested before I posted
with varying results. I rendered a drawing at 1024×768 on a white (or none)
background to a gif and imported to CorelDraw then added some text and printed.
The only problem with this approach is that Corel didn't interpret the
background as clear or pure white, but as a shade, so it prints black dots in
the background area. This also happened with our previous printer, HP PJ XL.
Our solution was to render to hardcopy, put the rendered sheet in a HP Laserjet
III and print only the text w/CorelDraw. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to
do that anymore since the 650C prints at 300 dpi as opposed to the PJ XL @180
dpi. Also, creating multiple lines of text in 3DS is no easy chore.
I have also tried Hijaak Pro 2.0 but the colors came out darker than
expected. I tried to print a GIF that way and blow it up to 17" x 22" and
Hijaak Pro converted all colors to grey shades. Corel Photopaint that comes
with CorelDraw was what I tried next and it worked pretty well on the 17 x 22
so maybe that's what I'll have to use.
Has anybody had any experience with Pizazz Plus 4.0?

Funny you should ask about this Corel Draw problem of making a white backround
into a light gray. I just spent several hours with the same problem and I now
know the solution (thanks to the Very Smart Guy in Tennesse: JKJ).
When you save an image as a 256 grayscale image in Corel, the damn program
tries to be helpful by automatically adjusting the gamma (or something
similar). This means that your white backround has now been averaged out to a
shade of gray! I'm not sure if this is a Corel bug or their idea of a
"feature."
The solution is simple: save the image as a COLOR tiff (or targa, or whatever)
with 256 colors. Even if the image is b&w or grayscale, when it is saved as a
color image, the white backround will remain white.

Thanx for your reply. I will try your suggestion. But I do have a
question. You mention that when saving an image as a 256 grayscale in Corel,

changing a white background into a shade of gray (bop ba, ba doo wa ba ba, ba
doo wa ba ba, ba doo wa da) (sorry). Does this mean it will also adjust the
gamma in a 256 COLOR image?
The reason I ask is that the file I am working with was created in 3D
Studio, rendered to a 256 color GIF and then imported to CorelDraw to add text.
The background color is white, and when viewed with a GIF decoder or a
raster/bitmap editing program it is true white.
