I just heard about Razor Pro today. Is anybody using it? And where can I get it in the San Francisco Bay area. I think my teeth will hurt until I have it in my possesion .

I know Digimation is a seller of it.. I'm unsure of any other, if so I'd list them too. I don't know of anyone using it at this time. If so, they haven't answered my posts. JNJ

Just a note concerning Razor Pro and the lack of responses to your inquiries. Razor Pro is still in beta with many folks putting it through the paces. Jamie (from In:Sync) is showing off at Comdex. Although I am not sure of the "official" release date, I can say that it is an outstanding product. Coupled with the PAR, it is a must for any animator. Dean Oliver Virtually Real

>Just a note concerning Razor Pro and the lack of responses to your inquiries. Razor Pro is still in beta with many folks putting it through the paces.< This is something quite different from what I have been told from Jamie. I have been talking with him since I saw the advertisement of "regular" Razor several months ago. If fact, I was the one to tell him about the PAR, and suggest that he get with DPS. I also talked with the President of DPS, and told him about Razor. Since that time, I have called Jamie several times about PRO. After discussing with him about beta testing, he said that I first would need to by Razor, which I purchased. After that, I called several times to check on the progress of the program, since he had not called me. I also faxed him a 2 pages worth of ideas to implement. He said that the program wasn't ready for beta yet. After a few calls, he told me that the guys at DPS were the only ones testing PRO, that he didn't need me, and that it would be shipping in 2 days. (last week some time) Now I am left with Razor, which has no use to me at all, and feel really screwed over by the entire thing. He's always been a nice guy, but man I got burned. Hopefully, he's got a good reason for all of this. Jeez, without me he wouldn't have his $800 wonder program, and would still be getting less than $75 for his old program thru a bundle.. Sorry to dump here, but I'm left burned by the thing, and so is my employer(who spent the money). And to make things worse, I now have to instill some sort of faith in my employer about In-Sync so I can even get PRO.. (which, obviously, I would like to have) Certainly, I wasn't looking for a hand out, just some honesty and appreciation. If anyone has any corrections here (like you all who have PRO are working for DPS, and that's how you got the beta) let me know. I'd love to have this resolved in a good way. Otherwise, it's pretty apparent I was "forgotten". JNJ

Hi Michael! Where did you hear about RAZOR? The original RAZOR and RAZOR Professional are available directly from the manufacturer, in:sync They have ads in NewMedia Magazine, 3D Artist Magazine, Animation Magazine the Autodesk Multimedia Partner Catalog, and a bunch of other places us animation junkies like to frequent. in:sync has been offering the original RAZOR as part of a sweet bundle. You get "RAZOR," Fauve Software's "Matisse" and "Digiclips" a CD with 75 Video Clips, 50 Bit maps, 50 Voice Clips, 25 Music Clips in .WAV and MIDI file formats and 10 animations all together for a real good price. RAZOR and Matisse were "Finalists" in the Best of Byte awards at COMDEX / Spring '94 "RAZOR Professional" is the big brother to the original RAZOR. And several hundred dollars more expensive. But, as you say, very impressive. Edit and composite D2 quality images… handle sequences of hundreds of .TGA files in seconds.. customizable transitions… supports plug-ins such as Kai's Power tools and Aldus Gallery Effects… built-in character generator… infinite number of 32 bit image tracks, each with its own alpha channel… multiple keys.. a true SEMPTE timeline… variable frame rate and much more. in:sync has one heck of a product. If you get hold of Jamie Carr at in:sync, tell 'em I said "hi!." Kevin Gibson Animation Nation <tm> -=Always glad to help when we can.=- P.S. As for "where in the San Francisco area?" All I can say is check with your Authorized Autodesk Multimedia Dealer. If he doesn't already have it available, tell him to get it. You guys in San Francisco are out on the front of the wave. Help your fellow surfer! Kowabunga!

I heard about it at the SF Bay Area Users Group on Sat. Now I see it in magazines, but I am getting the impression it's not available yet. Yes, my heart is broken… but trying to stay at the leading edge of this technology can tend to do that. Still, when someone gets one, I want to hear about. I hope I won't be the first.
