Seems to be becoming a pet peeve. I frequently combine various images for an animation and spend a lot of time combining the pallettes. One of the things that eats up a lot of unneccessary time is that when you make all frames in a flic "one pallette", it usually (but not always) changes the first color register to some other color than the 0,0,0 black that I always have it set to. Unfortunately that color is used for the area outside the active window. Since the color that gets placed there is being used in the animation, I have to do a lot of juggling to reorganize the pallette to get the outside area black again without disrupting the animation itself. Surely other people must have had this problem (frequently, I would think!), since there is apparently no way to avoid it. If anyone has any tricks up their sleeves that they would like to share, I'm all ears.

There are some quick tricks to this actually. I do all my palette manipulations BEFORE mixing. I squeeze images down to a decent percentage of the entire palette, preassigning them to certain areas (clusters). Then when they get combined, no conflicts and no 0 register problems. What kinds of images are you combining? (Flics? Pics? Cels?) -dave

Dave — I'm combining the pallettes of different frames in a single flic, and I do everything the same way you describe. I hope you have some "quick tricks" to tell me about, otherwise I guess this is just another of the many AniPro bugs that only occur on my system. (Sigh.) –Stephen

The quickest "fits" I know of involve using the single palette option or taking a given palette (full cluster), cutting it, and then pasting it over time to the remaining frames (much like 3DS does on low palette mode). Bugs? What kind of bus are you experiencing? -dave
