I could really use some help in understanding the way Turbo Silver does IFF mapping. I'm running into problems trying to map an IFF brush containing a pattern onto a custom built object (created by adding points to an axis and then spinning). No matter how I go about this, the result is always a very streaked coloring of my object. My brush doesn't show up on the object, yet I can see Silver is trying to map the brush to the object because the brush colors show up on the object – sort of. Turbo Silver doesn't mention anything about mapping brushes in its manual. I understand this was added in Silver 1.1. I upgraded directly from 1.0 to Turbo. I hope they do a little more thorough job of documenting things in the next upgrade. I'm really interested in what you have to say about all this. ps. I notice that the control key has a similar effect as the left shift key in multi mode, but adds an asterisk in the title bar. This is also undocumented. Do you know what this is for? Thanx.

As this is just a temp PPN I'm currently using, (another day or so) won't be able to re-respond if these suggestions don't work. Our permanent setup for CIS should be up and running in another week or so, so please don't keep this PPN as permanent. As far as mapping goes, it sound like ou may have an axis that is too small in size. Mapping isn't all that difficult, but it does take some practice to get the "feel" of whats hapening. Try the following as a simple test. First add a sphere of 50 units in size to the editor surface. Nest, add an axis to the editor surface, and re-size it to Z = 200 , and X = 320. The Y axis is of no concern. position the Axis at the lower left of the sphere. select the axis (it turns blue) and under the attributes menu select Color = IFF Brush. Under the brush menu, load a 320X200 IFF pic in to the first "unsued" space. Next group the Axis to the sphere by using multi-mode (left shift key) Select the Axis first then the sphere. When both are blue, hit right amiga "G". When the re-draw is complete, hit right Amiga "K" to cluster or pass the IFF attriubutes to the sphere. That should do it. The othere things to keep in mind are, that you probably want to turn blending on the IFF brush down to 0, and remember that the right and left sides of the wrap meet at the Z axis. The final manual is being finished outside of our facility, and should be done within 30 days. You may want to give our office a call, and ask for the 1.1 doc. The ctrl/shift asterik is a signal. When in this mode, and doing a rotation, all object picked will rotate or scale on their own independant local axis at the same time and rate.
