#151522 Giff and LHA Message #151551
You can view the pictures with ViewTek or with SuperView, both of which are in the graphics utilities library of AmigaArts. For unpacking .LHA files, get the self-extracting archive, LHA138.RUN in Library 16 of AmigaUser. —Betty

Keith, Get lha138.run in lib 16, it's the uncompression software. It is runnable as downloaded and will extract itself into several files including documentation. Don
#Giff and LHA Message #151522
I have aquired some GIFF files and some files with the extention .LHA. I have tried to view the GIFF files with several software programs but have met with no success. How can look at these pictures? And I have found out that .LHA is a compressed file. What software…

=>an A4000/040 with Toaster installed, 2 meg chip ram, 18 meg ram, and 240 =>meg HD No nothing wrong with this. It is helpful though in the future so that when (or should I say if now ) a problem does arise common references can be used (ie using commands…

Michael, >>Forgive me if You already know this stuff. I don't know what your level of familiarity is with the Amiga.
#151012- #I screwed up bad… Message #151456
Yeah, you're right. AmigaDos (rightly) won't let you give the name of an existing dsirectory to a drawer, since apart from the icon, they are functionally the same thing. That's also the beauty of AmigaDos, though: that you can do a lot of things via the Workbench OR the shell.…

#Starting to sink in Message #151406
Hi Trent, Well it worked! This working in shell is starting to sink in. After decompressing the files successfully, I transferred them to a seperate drawer and tried to start the program in WB with double clicking. After getting 'Program failed (error….etc)' feedback, it finally dawned on me to go…

#Last command in CLI? Message #151340
Hi I was wondering if there is there is a hot key combination in the CLI to "retype" the last command line like the "F3" idea in MS-DOS on the PC? Thanks for your help! John PS, is there a book or FAQ file on hotkey combinations available? Thanks.

Len, (Greg says butting in where he probably doesn't belong) you need to CD to the directory where your LHA is at so that it can be executed as an AmigaDos command. For instance, if the file you want to decompress is in RAM: you should type….. cd WORK:compress (or…
#151029- novice user Message #151258
Len, What are the name of these files exactly? If they are compression/decomp. files they are probably self extracting. You can usually tell by the file suffix.

#need more help Message #151196
Hi Trent I think I going to test your patience level. Everything worked fine up to and including extracting the LHA138.run files in ram and transfering them in my Compress drawer of my Work partition. I then put the file I want to decompress (lazi.lzh) into my ram partition, typed…
Print problems Message #151187
This amiga novice would like to know if its possible to get my Amiga 4000/040 to talk to an Apple LaserWriter IINT printer. I changed the switch setting on the printer (serial) to RS-232 9600 Baud/RS-422 9600 Baud and on the Amiga I set the printer prefs to Printer type:…
