Help ! Apple laserSelect
Message #166223
Greetings, Is there a printer driver that allows me to use the LaserSelect Priner made by APPLE. I am going to use the parallel port on the printer and just ignore the AppleTalk port. If you have any idea or suggestion, plesae kindly leave me a note. Best Regards, Sze…
PostScript, not preferences printer (LaserJet 4MP), used as PostScript from FinalWriter and others.
Be sure: a. macro in FWMacros drawer b. that you have set up the tool type in your FW icon, so it knows where to look for Arexx macros. ie: MACRODRAWER=FWMACROS/ It's probably "b." that you need to implement. Select the FW icon, then Information from the Icon pull down…
I tried this, and was told the system was unable to open Arexx macro. —Speeding along at 14400 via AutoPilot Lou Yurcsak
Yep, I know, people allways see the way WP works… but they don't see this is just an application not a prt driver that works with all applications. It's simply becoming standard to print fonts using gfx mode. Even in the PC world. Yes, some printer even require gfx mode…
When trying to print envelope paper sizes. Are you sure you selected CUSTOM as paper size in preferences. Otherwise the driver will allways set the paper size and as the driver doesn't support envelopes… There are three ways printing various "unsupported" paper sizes. Not all methods work with all drivers. Here…
Oh, oh. This now looks grim for text printing. You mean I can not extend the text buffer withing the driver? Yes, you are rigth 230 chars won't cut it! I don't even have to research that one. Well, no big deal. It is not like I was able to…
Thanks, Gary, I'll give that a try. —Speeding along at 14400 via AutoPilot Lou Yurcsak
This works OK as long as you don't want to print a long list of envelopes and have no desire for non PCL-ROM fonts (i.e., if you want something prettier than courier) or logos. I've tried on several occations to get envelopes pretty-printed from any Amiga wordprocessing or DTP program…

Wolf, Thanks for responding to my plea for help. I will be very much interested in Studio 2 when it is out. How will you let us know? I guess I have expected too much after using MS Word and WordPerfect 6 with scalable fonts on the MS DOS platforms.…
Louis, There is an Arexx macro for envelope printing with the HP printers and Finalwriter, in the Amigavendor forum, library 12: Envelo.lha. Put it in your FWMacros drawer. Then, just highlite the address info in your FW doc, and activate the macro. It will do the rest. Gary on AutoPilot…

Has anyone discovered a way to have a #10 business envelope addressed with an HP LaserJet 4MP and Final Writer? I set the HP for COM10 and, tried using custom, and other settings on FW, but to no avail. —Speeding along at 14400 via AutoPilot Lou Yurcsak
if your printer can't print ASCII and you want to write a driver able to print text in gfx mode: forget it. This is a real nightmare task because the printer device does has it's limitations here. The buffer for text is only 230 chars… I doubt you can print…

Courier, if you like the IBM Selectric typewriter style. That's what we us at work for things that're supposed to look like a letter. Bob Comer Cheyenne, Wyoming U.S.A.
I check the manuals for the other Tektronix printers and at a quick glance it does not look like they are the same. I will see if Tektronix has any inside info, but I don't think they maintain anything on the Amiga. But since we have prefer status with them…
Barry, The Epsons work just fine with the C= HPLaser drivers. No problem there. The problem is with the software you're using. ProWrite is great for screen display but its print quality with lasers is atrocious. I've heard Excellence has similar problems. I have a couple of suggestions: 1) Get…
Karl, Thanks, yes I would like to be kept informed on the new Studio 2.0 drivers! Do they replace the drivers that Commodore have out? Is Studio 2.0 a package of print drivers or other things too? Barry ** Barry Balderston AMIGA 2000/2.1 ** ** 2144 Golf Links Road, Sierra…
Gary, Thanks for the quick response! Based on what you stated it sounds like I should be using a good non-proportional font. What do you recommend? Thanks, Barry ** Barry Balderston AMIGA 2000/2.1 ** ** 2144 Golf Links Road, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635 **
Hmmm, I'm not surprised. I'm having the same problem with excellence! and the CBM HP driver. Kelly Jordan is looking at the output from excellence! for me so we might know more soon. Wolf Faust says that the Commodore driver is pretty limited so I'm probably going to get his…
Thanks, I'll be looking for it. -Karl
Barry, I am NO expert in this area, but it sounds like more of a font problem than a driver problem. Proportionally spaced fonts or the mixing of proportional/non-proportional can cause some of the problems you describe. Proportional fonts coupled with justification can also result in some strange looking spacing.…

Hi! I hope someone can help. I just bought an EPSON "ActionLaser" 1500 for my AMIGA 2000 using 2.1. I have tried Pro Wite 3.2 and Excellence with the same results. I am using the print driver "HP Laser Jet" as suggested in the EPSON manual as one of many…
It's your time 😉 If you think nobody else made one… well, I wouldn't be so sure and even if not, the other Phaser printers aren't that different and you might get the source to start working on… at least transfer.c should look the same for most Tektronix printers and…
Yep, a new version is coming up soon. The software (3 compressed disks) is in it's final test phase and I'm currently working on the manual wich should be finished in 2 weeks. Add another week for my printer… so it should ship in 3-4 weeks. If everything goes worse……
Eulogio, Thanks, I got it know is a question of figuring things out. It seem simple if I don't need to do ASCII printing. Otherwise it will be a while. Eduard VIS
Thanks Gary, but I don't think so. I have it. I think is the PRTGENsomekindofnumber and it assumes that the 1- The printer has multiple 8 bit wide commands (which 99% of the printer do) but this printer uses 6 bit wide commands (do not ask me I did not…
I just got the ROM Kernel Manual (I could not beleive I could find anything for the Amiga now a days but some FAITHFULL (maybe HOPEFULL) stores had it. Yes, on a first glance it looks like I would need to only change the transfer.c (sorry i do not have…
Well, there are various sources of Amiga drivers available in the Rom Kernal Manual (ask in your bookstore) or Companion (Fish disk 344 includes the sources – warning… all sample source code I have seen so far includes several bugs!). Regarding the Tektronix, there are drivers available for some of…
A couple of years ago there was a printer driver generator program here…and maybe it won't work for your Tektronix. This program allowed you to input all the codes your printer used, then generated an Amiga driver. Sorry I can't remember the name…used to have it, and deleted it. You…

#Printer Driver Info
Message #165512
Is there any good book or files to write a printer driver for the Amiga under 1.3 (or higher). This place has several Tektronix printers (one in my desk) that are weird and need a special driver. I wrote the one that drives the program we sell. For those who…
It sounds like I need to get Studio, then. You said earlier that a new version is coming out? -Karl
Yep, it's the aFNT0 – aFNT10 you can set in Excellence! – not FON#. The stuff does work, however, the Commodore driver is very limited and doesn't allow you to select all fonts. All aFNT typefaces can be defined in Studio. However, you allways have to remember, that the printer…
#Need help with printer
Message #165235
O.K., I'll try to be more specific. The word processor I'm using, excellence! 3.0, allows selection of the internal printer font, or so it says. The manual states that this is done by sending FON# codes to the printer. However, selecting different font numbers have no effect whatsoever, with the…

Hi! Does anyone have experience with the EPSON ActionLaser 1100? What print driver should be used? I would appreciate any advice on this matter. Thanks, Barry ** Barry Balderston AMIGA 2000/2.1 ** ** 2144 Golf Links Road, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635 **
