The great thing about Spira, is that you should use both. Pick your favorite index/retrieval product to index the data and then save to CD-R disc right from the application or use File Manager without ever running a separate premastering application. David
No, the sessions are as large as the amount of data you transfer before ejecting the disc. The cache causes track writes in 10MB or larger chunks which do not consume any real overhead. Therefore, you can transfer 650MB of data and only create one session while only using 25MB…

This sounds very interesting. This also implies 25 MB sessions, with a lot of session overhead. We pack disks full with 645 megabytes of data. So wouldn't opening and closing sessions slow down reading and loading and reduce the available space on the disk?
Not a chamce. We process 500,000 different graphic images (B&W TIFF Files) each and every day here. All must get burned onto CD-ROM. We pack the disks as very full as possible to keep the count as low as possible.
Thanks for the reply. I'll verify the "bad" disks on another drive when we get one. Unfortunately, there are a lot of Mitsumi drives out there and not being compatible with them will have huge impact on support costs here.

Recording cassettes to CD-R isn't a big deal if you've got a A/D converter. The biggest concern is that a cassette is not that great a source for audio. Your CD copy can not be any better than the original unless you make some very hefty investment in digital clean-up…
