#Black burst HELP!
Message #94868
I am looking for some assistance in configuring my configuration (or, "I just got up to see what condition my condition was in"). Actually, I am trying to hook up a recently aquired HORITA BSG-50 sync generator to my system. I have a 4X4 s-video matrix switcher on the way,…
I have finally had to bite the bullet and fall back into my past life of dabbling in programming. I had some immediate needs. I have written a very simple BASIC program that will build and ASCII file of tape commands that run through my DQ422 card. When using the…
Sorry I couldn't help. Still don't understand why it won't work for you. Like I said, I live by both this method and the Network slave method. In fact, I'm in the process of writing a batch file generator to render (or drop) several sequences of stuff (including holds and…

#Diaquest QuickPass
Message #92127
Must add -> had the old 5:30 pm deadline today, went in at 8:00 am, set up QuickPass and hoped it would fly so that I could get the remaining 1800 frames (6 segments) + fadeins and holds to tape before FexEx left me in the dust…..well, WOW! Two hours…
Now all we need is a little phone in option so that we can see if the thing is going to be done by 8:00 am or if I can continue playing into the wee hours and then sleep in !
I was suggesting that in order to submit an piece of work for the demo reel, that an article explaining how the piece was created needed to be included. This information could then be assembled in an appendix in the tutorial along with mesh or project files. We were discussing…
Couldn't follow you batch file, but I do this almost every night and it works great for me. I set up the batch files so that I can render several different sequences and/or so I can take the lock home and runs tests of other stuff while the real machine…
#Diaquest QuickPass

Just got a Sony UVW-1800 Betacam SP and a new Diaquest-422+ with QuickPass. Looking forward to using QuickPass with the Betacam, but questionable if it will work with my Sony EVO-9650 Hi-8 VTR? My dealer says no, but documentation looks like it will. Has anyone given it a try yet?…
Would hate to see stuff not make it because of the "written exam". when I wrote an article for our company newletter/tech report I got one of our editors to co-author. Two possible solutions: 1) Autodesk edits, or 2) unedited version by the actual artist may actually be easier for…
#More throughts

More wishlist items. How about being able to link stuff in the editor. Take a backoe for example. Several pieces, numerous angles, and placement. It would be great to be able to set this up in the editor so I could get stuff the way I need it before I…
I'm no expert when it comes to the final product, but I certainly have a vast amount of experience when it comes to pouring over the manuals and muttering "what the …. is going on here and why won't this come out?" I believe the documentation is really very good;…
Our thoughts
Message #90238
My partner and I were hoping that we too could add a couple of items to the rapidly growing wishlist. I hope we aren't being redundant. 1. A few more keyboard entry possibilites, for example, when building geometry. It would be great to be able to type in some of…
I'm interested in playing along, but couldn't find NEOZOIC1.ZIP? Where did you put it?
I asked this question a while ago and received the magic answer from the Yost Group…… /X in the command line will render VP

In an attempt to avoid begging I was hoping to see your PXP show up on the board. Oh well, here I go…please! Would love to see it and horse around with it. Will it be coming soon?
I missed the beginning of the thread too, but have spent alot of time with DTMs and 3DS. Are you wanting to get topo in? I would say don't but a DEM. You will spend as much time fixing it as you would digitizing it. We just digitized 150 square…
Will look again, probably scanned too fast and looked only for CON…, and not DEFAULT-CON…
Thanks Mark, but I'm going to change to default value in the 3ds.set beccause I always forget to make the change until I am partially into keyframing and at that point it's kind of a little late. With the type of motion that I animate, I would rather set continuity…
Ah Ha! I have got to quit playing around with my 3ds.set file! Right before I was to run my animation, I was in the 3ds.set file adding a path and looking for a way to set the default continuity slider for the keyframer to zero, … when I found…
I was going to place it on the board today, but do you ever have one of those days where it's obvious that nothing is obvious? Well, what worked nicely yesterday, has a completely unexpected anomoly plastered across it today. Don't ask me why, but none of the animated line…
I will post the animated line graph. Today was a frustrating day, but here's what worked the best: A horizontal wipe moving from bottom to top (created in AniPro), with the upper-left most pixel modified in the last frame. Also, the FLC was rotated 180 degrees in the material editor.…
Thanks!
That I didn't try, or to be honest even consider. Now I guess I better warm up the car! Hopefully somebody will be looking for something that I might be able to help with. I feel like I just keep taking and taking from you guys. Anybody need some home-made…
Wow! Two great ideas. Now I just have to go in tonight!!!! Thanks!
Your suggestion sounds like the ticket. I was using a horizontal wipe which I rotated 90 degrees in the "S" slot. My wipe was created in AniPro and I took extra precaution to make certain that I had nice full black and white ends. All for not. This dog of…
That's a good idea. I will give it a try. I guess I could also render a background border that includes the end, then render over that, used as a background, and create a matte object to cover the end. But, it just seems like there ought to be an…
#Handwritting tail end
Message #85005
Wow! The tip on lofting a horizontal wipe through a "handwritting" path was great! I have had lots of fun with this. It came up at a particularly good time for me, because I had an effect required and wasn't certain how I was going to go about it. It…
Are you interested at all in sharing tips regarding DNR status, tape type, etc. in an effort to globally improve our results?
Thanks. That's what i was thinking. I've been using JPEGs for offlines on my EVO-9650, but it's time for the PVW online and I didn't want to risk it. Too bad, the space requirement even at JPEG (100) is refreshing!
#JPEG vs TGA
Message #82372
How do JEPGs compare to TGAs when ready to drop final online, broadcast quality frames? I love the compression, but will the final product suffer? Thanks.
Check you e-mail, I have passes on the series of message that were passed on to me by Steve Cahill. I woul dhave passed them on here, bt couldn't figure out how to do that.
Gas Clouds
Message #81168
I am trying to track down a set of messages that I read a few weeks ago, regarding the creation of gas clouds. I thought G. Pyros had provided the assistance, but I was wrong. Was you folks? If so, could you point me toward that series of messages…or at…
Call for Animations
Message #80851
What do you need these animations for?
Me too! However, I can see the object (it looks like a displayed 3D object while in the shaper), but I can't move it, rotate it, or see it upon rendering. And yes it will show up in the same manner in both editor and keyframer.
I have both. The bernoulli is an old 44 M system and the SyQuest is a new 105 M system. I can tell you that the SyQuest is really nice. It came with a SCSI/Parallel cable that works much better than the Bernoulli system. Also, Bernoulli disks (44 M) are…

I am looking for a bright idea regarding the following: I constantly am dropping series of segments to tape in which I include a 10 sec hold at both ends of the segment. In other words, I am using 300 frame head and tails setups. The problem is that most…
