Michael, > Why ? I mean, what's the point in doing this ? If you Skin the box as a single mesh, you can deform by PD Bones, Digi. Bones, Deform & other IPAS, or by transforming/deforming vertices in morph targets. Or, you can Slice the mesh after Lofting, and…
Hi Michael, > > Assuming you mean you have 3 MORPH TARGETS, you do it just like the sample project illustrates: Apply Skin, Materials & Mapping to the pointer object, and name the first morph target in the Skin dialog (bottom left I think). Maybe I'm not understanding what you're…
Hi John, > Thanks John. I've been reconfiguring for a new o/s, s/w & h/w – plus, reorganizing about 10GB of data. Presently, I'm right in the middle of a mess 'o problems to resolve, and I'm really not sure where that file is within that 10GB . As soon…

Hi Gary,
Hi Michael, You're welcome…glad it helped. Yes, I *may* be back on-line now, sorry for the delay. BILL
Hi Michael, I've sent you an example skinned & animated cereal box project via E-Mail. Don't expect any impressive animation here, I just moved through a few morph targets. But, do note the following while examining the Shaper, Lofter, Editor & Keyframer contents : 1) Note that the Deform/Fit Shapes…
> From the looks of the field at Candlestick during the NFC championship game, I'd say you must have been drowning out there 🙂 . BILL

Hi Sam, > That's great! Good luck with it. BILL
> The only thing you can do is to render the Skinned areas with a wireframe material for a quicker preview. But, if you use B-Spline method with a more dense (more vert's) control lattice, you can achieve a Skinned surface which more closely matches the control lattice, & avoid…

No, you didn't ! (BTW, congratulations) BILL
Hi Bob, Happy Holidays! I didn't get the CD, but have seen most of it. > Well worth many times the price for this alone. I have been a HUGE TG fan since Python's early days. Although 2D, his creations really get your attention, and invoke emotion. And that's what…
The image uploaded was more abstract than just softened in this case, but with the original's amount of detail, it's still a very recognizable image. I agree, I really just wanted to composite a brushed version in with the original to make it's origin questionable, but I couldn't find the…
I believe the upper left pixel in the image is the key color used with DECAL, but make sure all the black pixels in the BG are the same value. Otherwise, mask with Alpha and save to a alpha-supporting format, then USE ALPHA. BILL
> Try the metal shader with Kd = RGB 0 to128, and Ka = RGB 0. BILL
Speaking of Pennello, I haven't used it in a while until today. I processed that last Rayman image with it, and added a little of your interpolative Blur, some noise & other stuff. Interesting results combining a more photorealistic original, with abstract post-processing. Uploading as "Stilli.jpg". Gee, I feel more…
> Uhhh…..Yes. BILL
EO:> EH:> PMJI, but I think that was the point that Aaron was trying to make. As you point out, people see the same thing differently….subjectively. The camera therefore possibly being more "accurate", not being influenced by the post-imaging processing carried out in the brain. Of course, with modern programmable…
Hi Sam, > Not true, Sam. After reading your explanation of the problem, I was compelled to experiment a little. There's actually 2-3 ways to achieve an animatable, seamless 5-point Skinned star…..including my "tunneling" method demonstrated with the BranchMan upload a while back. However, that method is very difficult to…

> I second that. Would that be possible ? Can you use it for skeletonal control of a number of objects, such as a chain of Skin slices ? BILL
> I can't really understand the problem from your description. Are you saying that the Skin doesn't come to a sharp enough point ? If so, use double or triple vertices in close proximity at the point, and/or raise the tension parameter….or use the Catmull-Rom method. BILL
Damn Michael, I completely missed this thread until now. I was wondering when you were going to release this thing . I hope you are very successful with it, as it's really a great program, and you worked and *listened* very dilligently. Thanks again for the kind words. If you…
Hi Ron, I'm sorry, I offered to help, then I got tied up off-line the rest of the day. Here's what's going on with your files: CYLINDER – First of all, assuming you wanted to skin the entire stack of slices, you didn't have Skin applied to the *first* slice.…
> Uh, I *think* they're called woman.zip & cowboy.zip or .gif. If you have the IPAS #6, the cowboy head's included. BILL
PMJI Ron. I'll be glad to look at your Skin problem right away if you E-Mail the .PRJ with an explicit description of the problem. I'm sure Gary's really swamped. If you like, you can E-Mail to M.G.Batchelor @ CIS 71532,1214.
Hi Edward, Thanks. I really can't tell you how long it took, because VisArt rendered it for me. I don't have much computing horsepower these days. It did take a very long time, but understand – it was designed strictly as a test for a highly recursive scenario, with 20-25…
Looking foward to it Michael. HAPPY HOLIDAYS! BILL
Hi Michael, I just wanted to take this opportunity to publicly thank you & your staff for being such great *listeners* these last few months. It has been a pleasure to work closely with you on RM 1.0. I'm sure those individuals desiring a raytracer which can read most all…
> Thanks Michael, but I have no *artistic* ability whatsoever, …more of a technician. I just wanted to try to show some the capabilities in a limited amount of time. It was just a study, rather than a composition, but I'm glad you liked it. I wish you great success…
I think it would be very helpful if you could upload more info on the product, perhaps with some screen grabs of the interface. BILL

To all interested, Well, I'm uploading another sample image from the Rayman raytracer being developed by VisArt. This is from a near-final beta, and again started out as just a test scene for development purposes. There's a couple of problems left to resolve, but never-the-less I thought this test actually…
Ahhhh. Another member you understands where I'm coming from. How satisfying! That's 2 I think . BILL
> Ahhh. I'd be interested to know how that works out. Keep up the great work. BILL
> I meant that I have no rights to that finished mesh. That would be pushing my luck, and I have no luck historically with such matters. However, since most of the time I'm not working on commercial projects these days, I plan on constructing other similar/better meshes/images which I'll…
> Please don't misunderstand my points. I am NOT saying the current modeling system is any substitute for an integrated spline modeling system. But within the limitations of what it is intended to accomplish, it is very good. And many of the skills utilized with it & the IPAS routines…
Hi Martin, > Funny you should mention that. I did experiment briefly with how much work it would take to tweak the Cowboy head to feminine features…..Then I started from scratch! Looked pretty strange. Yeah, I had to finish this one, as it was a rare job I accepted for…
> I think "only played with it for 15 minutes" is key here. I've used it, as well as most EVERY modeling system on EVERY platform for quite a while. And I'm just trying to be helpful in pointing out (from experience) that AM nor a B-Patch Modeler is going…
