Ron, when I talked to Newtek last week, they told me the first 50 or so Toasters were due to ship Friday or Monday, with more later next week. After that they should begin their major production of boards. We'll see…but never have they been so specific as to say…

I'm well aware of Disneys statements as to 2.0 compatiability, and was not critizing them. I merely pointed out that the A3000 shipped before their package shipped. In fairness to them, the 2.0 OS has been upgraded around three times since the initial A3000 shipments…and will probably change one or…

Steve has pretty well summed up what Centurion Press is. The idea was to show some techniques of AV programming in a 'real' application. This one demonstrates such things as user interaction, music, graphics, fades, text windows, th eobject editor and some structured programming. I am uploading another AmigaVision flow…

hmmm… You would never be sure that you had reached the position you requested on the disk. For example, suppose you issued a LD command to display frame 12301. If the PAUSE button on the AV LAser requestor was enabled, normally the progra would wait until the laser command finished.…

Also…. Disney shipped AFTER the A3000 shipped…they may have checked it against the version of 2.0 that was in the early A3000's, but even if it worked with that version there is no guarantee the later versions were compatiable…

Interesting. Thats the first time I have heard it explained that way, but it certainly would explain the CAV features. And yes, you have two audio tracks that can ve accessed, along with the video track. -Lou
From: Lou Wallace Amiga Arts Forum · Videophile September 17, 1990 7:00 PM
Quite right Art, they do all read/play CAV and CLV. BUT, playing a CLV disk is a long way from controling a CLV disk. In other words unless you have a very high end Laser Disk Player you wont be able to seek individual frames of video or pause on…

No, I use a Sony LDP 1200 with AmigaVision. Sorry. However, if the Pioneer 2000 has a RS232 port, get a null modem cable (or serial cable with a null modem adapter from Radio Shack). Then try the various Pioneer drivers supplied with AmigaVision. -Lou

Well, I contacted a number of sales reps from companies that sell industrial (rs232 equipped) laser disk players. I left my name and number, telling them I wanted a good working used or other bargain priced LPD…and after a couple of months I got a call… DIsks suitable for AV?…

I didn't think you were complaining Steve! 😀 Try the CLI approach, it does save a bit of ram.. and I'm glad the program helped you learn more about AV…its a great package. I plan on uploading some others pretty soon. -Lou

Betty, I am using a Laserdisk player with AmigaVision. The model I bought was the Sony 1200 industrial player. It has the serial port needed to interface to the Amiga and works quite well with AmigaVision. It doesn't have the fast access of some of the players out there, but…

Yes, you can submit entries on video tape, as long as you 1) Send a master (1st generation) on 3/4" or 1" tape 2) Send a copy on VHS 3) Send enough of the anim on disk to PROVE it is Amiga generated. If you don't send enough on disk…

I haven't, although you could do so if you wanted… Another thing you can do is to make smaller text windows, which will speed up text handling. The Centuruion demo used a 640×400 16 color full screen text window…about as hard a job as AV will ever have to do.…

Quite right. Using Arexx from AV opens up some interesting possibilities. For example, I have used AV, via Arexx, to control DigiView 4.0. AmigaVision controls a laserdisk player, sets up the first frame I want and then sends a command to DigiView to digitize teh image. Then I sent (again…

Showing multitasking to non-amiga users requires a special effort on planning what to do.
