Depends on what you call textured graphics! I consider Doom and its look-alike as textured graphics based games. And they run rather nicely on my home DX4/100 with a $120 Cirrus Logic card… Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk

There's no way any existing Amiga can compete and come close to Pentium's speed as far as textured graphics are concerned. Unless you go for a $$$ (ou plein de brouzoufs) Amiga fitted with third-party high-end graphic cards and accelerators… Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
Well, I can boot (no SCSI devices, no network devices), but using serious apps. (Word/Access) involves hours staring at the flashing HD light, listening to the swapping process 🙁 BTW, Bill Gates is going to boost its sales, his partners' sales, hardware manufacturers' sales… Fred. Do you have any clue on what they'll be doing? Actually, will they be producing sound cards & software for PCs? Do you they have any Email address? I know they have a BBS, but that's a too long-distance call for me… TIA, Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
Marion, I still think the computer's industry would look very different if the money thrown into PC hardware (graphic cards, network cards etc), Dos/Windows and their apps. had been used to upgrade the 90s' style Amigas! We would have something close to (today's) Silicon Indigos at home for a few…
Not every, Christian. This is generally true, but there are some exceptions, and many newcomers from North America (Canada?) get some 102xxxx numbers… Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
Unfortunately, multitasking is still something people won't get excited as the only reference will be Win95, which does not exactly multitask yet (well, not until everyone have a bi-pentium, and all true 32 bit apps…) Win guys just don't understand when I show them I'm downloading some stuff while formatting…

Nice to know your products (and the Amiga) are used in Atlantic City. I should have had a closer look last time I went there. But I must have been more concerned by some other attractions |-) Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk

The press reports I have from them state that all European CIS operators are "100% CompuServe subsidiaries". CIS France is a "SARL", which is an independant company regarding the French law, but I guess the R&D and marketing stuff are dictated by the Colombus guys… Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris,…
Steve, No, Matthew can not monitor the replies on CIS… That's why I stated NOT to reply here & to me, but to him directly. Well, I'm afraid I have to forward him this thread as my originaml recommendations have not been followed 😉 Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France…

I'll add in my mail to Mr Massey that making the HMI non available to other systems than PC/Mac will for sure drive some people to reverse-engineer it. And CIS will see some 3rd party OLRs on the market which may cause them problems (sending stuff in the wrong format…
Jerry, Yes, of course, it entirely depends on how you define "can see through it", and I guess that's one of the reasons that made some people spread the rumour you mentionned… Saying some little scraps may reveal a faulty disc just become seeing through a disc means a faulty…
>The new one that I have heard is that if you hold the disc up to light and >can see through it the disc is no good. Aren't rummors fun? Well, we have an expression in French that says soemthing like "There's no smoke without a fire". If you see…

Don, I certainly won't agree with you… We are still making money out of the Amiga, and we could still do for some time wouldn't it be the lack of hardware. We've always been disgusted by the commercial policy from C= France, which I guess was more or less edicted…
