David, Thanks for your reply! I had THINK C and THINK Pascal, but they were too much for me, so I sold them. On my old Apple //e (many many years ago) I was quite the hack, but the Mac is a different story. So I purchased Serius, hoping that…

David, re: "Do you want to move to email and talk about the things you've done to date with Serius?" No need… as I just got Serius, and I haven't even finished the tutorial yet. I sent in the registration card, and am awaiting the DB objects. I'd really like…
Rich, Thanks for your reply! Unless you make the section names more specific, without getting too technical, you're (we're) going to find subjects all over the place. Maybe you want to make a contest out of this. Put up a message for X hours of freebie CIS time for the…

Message #51395
Rich, Me thinks that the new section names are too confusing. CDROM Forum – Messages (and libraries) 1 General 2 Titles 3 Macintosh 4 DOS, Windows, OS/2 5 Networking 6 Stand-Alone Pltfrms 7 Drives/Hardware 8 CDROM Production 9 Industry News 10 Marketplace 11 TBA 12 Nautilus 13 Standards 14 OPA…
Ted, The Apple CD300 is excellent. It's Photo CD multi-session compatible, is dual speed, it's backed by frequent software upgrades from Apple, and they just reduced the price! Go for it! Also, the Macintosh traffic here is very slow. You might have better luck over on the Mac forums. Cheers,…
Thanks! We try not to speak DOS in this house 🙂 Cheers, Al
Ismail, Funny enough, just a few days ago I sent a fax to your 206 number, asking for the new "Macintosh" CD catalog that you were working on, and I received the generic (mostly DOS) CD catalog. Any chance of getting the "Mac only" version? Al Heynneman 855 Monty Circle…
Margo, I just wanted to let you, and the other listeners know, that "this" Nautilus subscriber thinks that Nautilus is great! I just renewed my subscription, and I'd recommend that ANY CD user do the same. Cheers, Al
David, Yup, Apple CD v4.0.2 DOES support SINGLE session Photo CD's on the CD SC, I'm doing it. You may want to call MacWareHouse and order the $35 Kodak Photo CD access software. Cheers, Al
Any Macintosh compatible disks in the lot? Cheers, Al
Richard, I'll hold the flash unit and the extra film… 🙂 Cheers, Al
Peter, That's an internal file system error. The clicking noise makes me suspect a dirty lens on the laser, but I should ask the obvious questions first… do you have Foreign File Access, and the Audio/ISO/High Sierra files installed? Have you set up the FINDER's memory partition? Cheers, Al
Mac CD-ROM Newsletter!

Philip, I use my CD on my monster Mac IIx at home. I have two CD drives, and have a collection of about 60 disks. I also subscribe to Nautilus, and really love it. Thanks for the info about the aircraft CD's! Cheers, Al

Indiren, Stay away from the NEC 36/36M/37, they're too slow. You need a drive with 300ms or better performance. The Apple drive is an excellent choice, and you'll always be able to get software updates for it. I have two of them. Cheers, Al
Bryan, re: "slightly slower" Hey, don't get me wrong, I like the $199 CD offer, but "slightly slower"? Gads, it's more than twice as slow than most caddy style drives…800msec! At that speed, don't you have problems with sound files/applications? Cheers, Al
Thanks Steve. Cheers, Al
Kevin, Ouch. Thanks for the info. Yeah, one certainly doesn't go to Fry's for the people that work there. If they had half a brain, they'd put out a few terminals on the floor with some nifty "search by item" database, and let the customer find their own stuff. Cheers,…

Steve, Where abouts in Fry's did you find the CD caddies? I went looking, and didn't find them. Fry's reps were very helpfull…NOT! Cheers, Al
Dave, I noticed that there was quite a size difference between the 3 CD disks. If I was to only buy one, should I choose the largest one? What would you recommend? Cheers, Al
Dave, Hum. I'd suspect that the GIF files are the only thing that I might be able to use then. I have the appropriate CD drivers, etc. How much of the total disk is comprised of GIF files? What is the content of these GIFs? Cheers, Al
Raman, GO MACFF to find it. Search for MOUNT or IMAGE. I'd suspect that it's over in MACDEV or MACSYS. Cheers, Al
