Dave, Good to hear from you. I haven't been up in your neck of the woods since the last time I saw you probably. I bought a Media100 and I'm staying busy so I haven't been freelancing much. What would ethernet do for you? End the agony of Parnet for…

#Flyer signal problems
Message #111245
I'm currently trying to trouble shoot a clients Flyer system and am finding that I have to pump the black levels up about 15 units and video levels another 5 units on top of that to get decent playback. In other words, if I digitize bars off tape in order…

Evan, If its the original Progressive 040 you might have to change some jumpers, also you can't mix 1-meg and 4-meg simms. Give me a little more info and maybe I can be of some help. What model accelerator, how many simms/ what size Mark Cretcher
get char w/o Enter?
Message #45306
How do I input a single character without requiring Enter? I just want to monitor keypressed and return the result. Thanks in advance Mark C.
Is this an in Sunnyvale "Job" kind of position or is telecommuting acceptable? Mark C.
Jay, I have a PP&S 040/28 and 2091 in one of my 2000's and I experience none of the problems you are describing. I am not sitting at it currently, but if you would like to know any version numbers or anything else about my setup let me know. I…

Convergence 104 Edit controller for sale, cheap! Will control sony BVU and Sony type 5 machines. Works fine, make an offer. Mark C.
Would you like an e-mailed resume or do you want to wait for the mail? Mark Cretcher
Due to the nature of my mail responses, I guess my posting is unclear. I am not selling a toaster system, no computer, no monitor, just the VT4000 card and software. Thanks, Mark C.
Toaster for sale
Message #158207
For Sale Toaster 4000, 3.1. 6 months old, perfect condition. Make an offer. Mark C.
Jeff, It doesn't work for me. My PAR (2.10) will NOT accept Lightwave alpha 8 bits. I have to batch "Grey to Color" in ADPro and its a pain. Mark C.
Aki, But those rendered effects can be stacked and layered. I shudder to think of doing online editing with only a toaster for a switcher, "you want to hold a super over a dissolve? No, Sorry." Mark C.
Brian, I was told by a Newtek guy at an ITVA NLE "face off" that the flyer has no batch digitization capablility, so you can't offline at a low rez, create a list and then re-aquire only the needed media at full resolution, ala Avid. This is a fatal error…
Dave, I've got 3 Toasters and a PAR, no TBC IV tho. I did sell my 3/4 stuff about a year ago, the percentage of my business that was offline editing became quite small compared to the grafix & 3d. I think the 4000 is gone, but I'll let you…
Dave, Hows it going, are you still at Mills James? I'd like to get $2300 with all the ram. I only used it for a few months and its in great shape. You would have to put the T4000 card in this one though, and put your old card back…
Andrew, If someone makes an acceptable offer on the computer with less ram I'd be glad to split it up. Not beforehand though. Mark C.
A4000/040 for sale
Message #148592
A4000/040 18 megs RAM, 120meg HD, with or without LANRover Ethernet card. I bought it for a big job, now I have too many Amigas. Make an offer. Mark Cretcher
Brian, The AD1012 works fine with the PAR. Basically to syncronize they both lock to the Studio16 Timecode (internal or external). It works great, but it wouldn't be easy to sync audio to captured video (possible, not simple). Mark C.
Mike, Could you give me some details on Amiga PC ethernet? I'm using Envoy on the Amigas and would like some simple file transfer (thats faster than TwinExpress). Thanks, Mark C.
I was told by a Newtek guy who was showing the Flyer (software only) at a meeting two days ago that the new version of Lightwave *Does* support 3rd party display boards. I think he said Picasso and EGS is allready built in but that its a hook, so anybody…
That sounds like the problem. So I need an external terminator (DB25) if I remove the external drive. Does such a thing exist in a DB25 flavor? I know there are Centronics terminators but I've never seen a DB25. Come to think of it I remember someone else asking about…
Ottmar, I don't have Opus so I can't answer that, but basically it happens with every piece of software I own (as long as its dealing with a non-local device ). Mark C.
Stephen, How were you able to pin it down to that cable? I assume you mean the GVP supplied cable from the board to the DB25 connector. Mark C.
I'm using version 1.6a, I bought it from Expert Services. Mark C.

Dale, I'm running Envoy (4 machines) with LANRovers. Any time I try to parent out of a directory (or choose another device) while its still reading the directory, I get a task failure for that volume. If I'm patient and let the drive finish reading the directory, all is fine.…
#040/2000 scsi probs.
Message #78397
I have a G-force 040/2000 with a micropolis 2210 HD. As long as the micropolis is the only drive connected I have no problems, but when I add a drive (quantum 105, maxtor 245), I get non-existant read errors. I'm pretty sure the drive termination is correct. I know the…
Camster, What up man? How's life up north? Things are honking down here. John Erhardt and I have set up an office together and we're cranking out 3-d by the pound. Is this the end of the amiga era for you? Thats a cartidge Amax isn't it (not II+)? Later,…
3 machine Parnet?
Message #128906
I recently downloaded Olaf Sieberts ParNFS. Its an improved for OS 2.x Parnet, which the docs seem to suggest can access multiple machines through different ports. Do I understand this correctly? Has anyone set up a network with more than 2 machines using this? If so can you give me…
John, Latest update: direct from Jason at Newtek, foreground alpha doesn't work right. You have to composite before you composite 8(. Doesn't make for much of a Dear John eh? Use it if you like. Thanks Mark C.
John, Thanks for the reply. Your explanation is correct, the problem I have however is that the Foreground objects should not have to be rendered over black, If there is black there in the Foreground Alpha image it shouldn't matter what was there in the F image. Say for instance…
#Foreground Help!
Message #72500
John, I'm having trouble with the foreground alpha compositing in Lightwave. In short, I can't get it to work! Any experience with it? I posted another message to all that gives more details. Thanks in advance, Mark C.
LW FG alpha probs?
Message #72254
I can't get the FG Alpha compositing in lightwave to work the way I expect it to. Unless I first use the alpha image to composite the foreground image over black in ADpro, (changing all the stuff that should be transparent to black in the actual image as well as…
MorphPlus/Cinemorph??
Message #36608
I need to do a simple single image morph. I'm a happy Adpro user so my first inclination is MorphPlus, but I've been interested in ImageFX for some time now and since it comes with Cinemorph I could kill two birds with 200 bucks. Any thoughts? Thanks in Advance, Mark…

John, I have a VT4000 in a 2000 with a PP&S 040 (not Zeus). No problems, it works great, however I did not do the installation and I know the guy that did install it had a lot of problems. He couldn't even get through the install process without disableing…
Gary, I have the PP&S 040 w/16megs and a 2091 with Quantum drives and I don't believe I am seeing the performance hit you describe (and it sounds like I'd know it if I was). I have 2 megs of the 32bit RAM autoconfigured (the minimum I believe) and no…
Paul, The thank-you-ware is the solution I'm looking for. I want to forego the Emplant and get mac files straight in (and out). It just seems to me that with any format disk except 800K (or less), there are no hardware differences to overcome and it should be a software…
#Ados-> Mac Suquest?
Message #111000
Is there any way (ala Crossdos) to read and write Mac format Syquest cartridges, without Emplant or some such hardware device? I would think that since the Syquest hardware is the same, that a device driver and some mac2dos translation could be done with software. Amax will probably format the…
I have a 5850 and a 5800. I don't know about head hours (Type 5's have no meters) but they were just serviced and the engineer said the heads are fine. The machines are in excellent condition, they get very little use. I'm asking $3000 for the 5850 and $2500…
Jim, I have a Convergence ECS90 (2 machine cuts only with timecode, Sony type 5 interfaces), an ECS104 (4 machine A/B, 2 Sony type 5 and 2 Sony serial interfaces) and a CMX Edge (3 machine A/B, 2 Sony BVU, or BVW, parallel interfaces and 1 BVH1100 interface). I'm asking…
