Instead of slider gadgets, put an up and down arrow next to the value of BU…you can even do this in a FORM icon, so he can change the current value via the arrows, or he can select the field and type the value in directly. BTW, since the arrows…

Yes! Always open new icons…especially loop and wait icons. John Kominetz
AmigaVision version Message #8244
From: John Kominetz Amiga Tech Forum · Authoring Systems March 9, 1991 11:50 AM
Av 1.31 was bundled with lots of CPUs and did see "limited" release as a stand-alone. 1.53G followed closely on its heels. John Kominetz

As long as your amiga-side activity is limited, you'll be OK. Beware that the memory isn't write-protected when back on the Amiga-side, so anything you do could potentially corrupt information on the AMAX side. – via Whap!

That's a sloppy solution, especially once you get a number of courses. Do an INSTALL/RELOCATE and you won't have to worry about assigning at all. You can even I/R to the same directory as it currently occupies since AV will rewrite all the paths without using the false assign. jk3

By the way, did you ASSIGN CENTURION.1: to your ram: drawer or did you correct the references as you went along? Better yet, did you do something simpler or easier? I've been off CIS for months and really haven't considered the hardships of downloading AV courseware until now. (Just another…

Allan, AV will not reassign EXECUTE pathnames, especially since it doesn't write them to disk when doing a CREATE APPLICATION. The best solution is to have all the EXECUTE programs in one drawer and ASSIGN to it. All references within AV should use the ASSIGN. (If I put all the…

Is 1.53G in retail stores yet? Has anybody recieved 1.53G for their coupons or as upgrades? Is there much interest here in AV? jk3

Amigavision's pathing structures are *VERY* specific. Downloading these will create a host of new problems, but if you have a one-disk application (runtime) do this: 1. Copy unarchived files/drawers to floppy named "Centurion.1" 2. Open AmigaVision. 3. Select Install/Relocate Application/Runtime. In the future, people uploading courses will need to develop…

Version 1.09 is prerelease; nobody outside of developers, et al should have pre-1.31 versions. Be warned that file compatibility between pre-1.31 and 1.31 is *NOT* a sure thing. It is best to recode the courses from scratch since some information gets carried along with the icon. This is especially true…
#99999 AMAX Mac Emulator Message #100157

What software? Compatability has been exceptional, although when Adobe Type Manager came out, I had to grit my teeth! (Then I got a good look at ATM; no great loss!) John

Yes, I ran it on my A500 With an A501 ram expander and an A590 with 2MB fast ram. It works almost as well as on the A2000, except my clock was always freaky on the A500. The funny thing is that I could force A-MAX to get the correct…

A program is like a piece of music to me. I *can* appreciate each instrument or voice, but it is the total effect that I truly enjoy. When I said that Whap! is the best, I meant that Whap!, View!, and *even* Whapterm together are more enjoyable and useful than…

Reinstall FFS with your HDToolbox. From what you've said so far, I doubt it will help, but having the most recent version can't hurt either! The method is in the madness–er, manual. John

Well, I know a certain person in the RPGAMES forum that'll come over here and ask the same question–yes, again! Guess I'll head her off at the pass before she gets her registration patch and wonders why the "post private" option isn't working… John

Vance, How old is your 2090? When I had my 500 and got my A590, Commodore had installed an older version of FFS on the drive. Whap, and some other PD-type programs would Guru; with Whap it was during the View mode. I never got a Read/Write error, but it's…

Steve, I asked–again–because I just noticed the menu in View! that includes saving unformatted and private messages. Do you intend to support either of these options, and do you intend to support EMAIL from the forums? I talked with Betty about it last night and she said that it was…

Help! I thought that Whap! didn't support private messages or unformatted saves, but there is a menu on the bar in View! for both of these options as well as mail within a forum. What's the story? Nothing I have done makes them work, and there is nothing in the…

EGGSTRA! EGGSTRA! Adobe Type Manager will NOT work with AMAX so far. It doesn't recognize the init as an init, but does add it to the control panel. I was doing this from my RAM/SYSTEM drive–will try installing on floppy system disk but don't eggspect it to work. Other than…

If you have three megabytes, just boot up with a dedicated system and font/DA disk, copy it to the RAM disk–which is inserted by pressing F1, and shutdown/restart. This frees up your floppy(ies) from system disk or system disk space requirement, and gives you the fastest MAC reboot in history.…

There are ways around the problem; I've made some major strides in the last 24 hours! What I am doing now is using an FX printer driver from the Epstart package with the 1124 set for AGR–alternate graphics mode. Now, this tends to "shorten" the space on a page by…

The only problem comes in when you try to use Copy II MAC or the like. AMAX doesn't really like Copy II's attempts to read "funny" disks, and it totally locks up when going to the Amiga/AMAX drive. This would not be so big a problem if a very old,…

I called Readysoft and they told me to send them my Utilities disk and that they would send me the updated disks. It appears that A500 and AMAX were not best friends in the beginning. This fixes it! John 3.0
