#Jay Miner Message #86801
From: Art Lewis AmigaTech Forum · Talk to the Trade January 27, 1990 7:20 AM
Betty- Jim Butterfield says you would be the best bet to talk to about how to arrange to have Jay Miner talk to our user group in Champaign, Illinois and what fees are involved. Could you give me some information on how to get started on this? Thanks
#60799 PLATO Message #60814
From: Art Lewis AmigaTech Forum · Telecommunications August 8, 1989 6:32 AM
Either he assumed the whole system was going down because the Atari section was, or he got his facts confused. As far as I know PLATO has become steadily more healthy over the past five years. When CDC lost the PLATO contract there were several articles that were of the…
#60668- #PLATO Message #60695
From: Art Lewis AmigaTech Forum · Telecommunications August 7, 1989 6:36 AM
I don't know WHERE these rumors get started! PLATO has NEVER been out of business. Control Data Corp is no longer running the PLATO network but they were NEVER even out of service when the change took place. Since I work at the University of Illinois (Where PLATO and the…
#Parallel Cable Message #58403
From: Art Lewis AmigaTech Forum · Talk to the Trade July 23, 1989 9:49 AM
Can anyone give me the DEFINITIVE answer as to which pins need to be cut when making a custom Parallel cable for the Amiga 1000? I know pin 23 has to be cut. But I've received advice ranging from four or five other pins to "every pin that has voltage."…
#32444- #PLATO emulator? Message #32454
From: Art Lewis AmigaTech Forum · Telecommunications January 28, 1989 6:40 AM
There is SUPPOSEDLY a PLATO emulator available from SUBLIMINAL SOFTWARE at PO Box 343 in Champaign, IL 61820-343. The price is $30. I talked to one fellow who had written to them about it and never got a reply (He didn't ORDER it, just sent a letter of inquiry). Can't…
#Microforge Drive Message #29303
From: Art Lewis AmigaTech · Drives/Controllers January 7, 1989 10:57 AM
I'm considering buying a used Microforge 40meg drive. I've been told that's it's a great drive but won't work with the Fast File System. Can anybody tell me if this is a problem that can possibly be corrected OR since I;ve been using my 1000 for about two years with…
#29031 SmartLink 2400 Message #29119
From: Art Lewis AmigaTech · Telecommunications January 6, 1989 6:04 AM
Don't you NEVER apologize for the INCONVENIENCE of something in that program AGAIN! You've got what in the opinion of most of the Amiga Community is the BEST!!!!! (Notice I did NOT exclude commerical stuff). There's no way you can cover ALL the bases. Yep. My modem does report RINGING,…
#SmartLink 2400 Message #28950
From: Art Lewis AmigaTech · Telecommunications January 5, 1989 6:52 AM
Is anybody else using a SmartLink 2400 modem from Hololink (once Link) Technologies? I've been using it for a little over a year, and it's fine in every respect except when trying to autoredial and therefore Scripts) from Access! For some reason the extended message set messes up the connect…
Printing Graphics Message #6865
From: Art Lewis Amiga Arts · Forum Business/Help November 27, 1988 7:52 AM
Does anybody have experience making a Xerox 4045 Laser Printer do graphics? I'm having no trouble with text files, but if I try to print out any graphics absolutely NOTHING happens. Art Lewis
Access Scripts Message #20309
From: Art Lewis AmigaTech · Telecommunications November 5, 1988 12:03 PM
Keith- Did some more investigating and apparently the problem is not with the script, but with the auto-redial. Whenever I use autoredial (which I very seldom use), the program makes a connection, but then immediately hgs up even before getting a modem tone. This didn't happen in previous versions and…
Access! Scripts Message #20302
From: Art Lewis AmigaTech · Telecommunications November 5, 1988 10:18 AM
Keith- I have just started trying to use scripts with v1.42 and am having a problem with my first one. It is for PLink and what happens is that I enable "DO SCRIPTS" and the script is definitely there but as SOON as I connect everything just stops. I never…
#View! Problems Message #1394
From: Art Lewis AmigaTech Forum · Whap! July 19, 1988 8:00 PM
Larry- I'm using DMouse1.07 with no problem! I do have my click-to-front feature turned off though … but have't had a bit of trouble with it. Art Lewis
#1106 View! Problems Message #1308
From: Art Lewis AmigaTech Forum · Whap! July 19, 1988 12:31 PM
As Jim explained ANY 'click to front' utility will not work correctly since not EVERYTHING you see on the screen is a WINDOW! Therefore the click-to-front utility doesn't know part of the graphics are there.
#1005 #View! Problems Message #1052
From: Art Lewis AmigaTech Forum · Whap! July 18, 1988 4:05 PM
DMouse will NOT mess up the display if you disable the POP TO FRONT or CLICK TO FRONT feature! Jim has EXPLAINED that about 50 times! I'm using DMouse with NO problems! Art Lewis
#1041 Whap Message #1051
From: Art Lewis AmigaTech Forum · Whap! July 18, 1988 4:03 PM
I agree with what you say in principle, Doug… but I think your figures are a little misleading. I did a RTN of AmigaTech capturing ONLY messages in 16 (WHAP!) this morning after having cleared the board at about noon yesteokrday. -qT it took 3 minutes. The average 'sweep' of…
#Whapcis.fonts Message #825
From: Art Lewis AmigaTech Forum · Whap! July 17, 1988 1:24 PM
I noticed a few messages from Lee Sheldon about this subject and I'm running into the same problem. He never did solve his problem, but got around it by going to a bootable disk. If I try to boot Whap! from workbench (with the WHAP disk in df1: Using my…
#Whap! Message #569
From: Art Lewis AmigaTech Forum · Whap! July 16, 1988 1:52 PM
Jim- After downloading the new version of Whap! I got back on line with no problem and zipped through the DEFAULT and EPLEX settings with no problems. You should have gotten the automatic EPlex message. The only thing that still is a mystery is that I get the 'prompt character…
#Whap Message #560
From: Art Lewis AmigaTech Forum · Whap! July 16, 1988 12:30 PM
Jim- I too am having a little trouble getting Whap going … probably a matter of not reading correctly or something. 1. When I added a forum … the very first time I called the program went to DEFAULTS and messed around for awhile … but then just seem to…
#124342- #Access1.3a Message #124551
From: Art Lewis The Amiga Forum · Telecommunications May 15, 1988 8:07 AM
A couple of months ago I asked you about the possibility of you working on a Message Handler which would allow you to download messages, answer them offline and then re-upload them. You said that you had seen the one that somebody here was working on and that it was…

From: Art Lewis Forum unknown · Telecommunications May 1, 1988 8:10 AM
A suggestion. Would it be possible to include an Abort feature for the macros. Sometimes you get into a situation where you get connected to the board but don't get the prompts you were expecting.. or get some garbage at sign on. Unless I've missed something…you have to wait quite…

Greg- Did you leave a space between the name and the +? If you did "COMPUSERVE+" it might not work. (Just an idea). Art

Did you read the docs about the new method for doing QB protocol? There is nothing wrong with the QB protocol in 1.3A. I have downloaded several files from CIS using QB in 1.3A with no problems. Art Lewis
Access! Message #119614
From: Art Lewis The Amiga Forum · Telecommunications April 16, 1988 6:34 PM
Keith- About two versions ago the Pause character slider disappeared from the 'HELP' gadget. As far as I can tell it now only comes up AFTER you have started an ASend. This means that the first few characters you send go out to fast in some cases. Is there a…

From: Art Lewis The Amiga Forum · Telecommunications April 16, 1988 5:37 PM
Thanks for the offer, Vic. At the present time I'm using TXed+ and haven't used Uedit. I have a friend who has it though… and if it'll make life easier I might start using it and send you a check. I'll take a look at it. Art

I've been trying what you said about handling messages off line. By the way…KEEP is GREAT! I'm a little confused though as to how I get all my replies to stream using Access! The first reply goes okay, but then after the /ex I get a prompt asking for Leave…

From: Art Lewis The Amiga Forum · Telecommunications April 15, 1988 9:08 PM
Do you happen to know if anyone has written a Message Handler for the Amiga yet? I looked through the DLs and didn't see one, but thought I might have missed something. What I'm talking about is a means to capture SIG mail, answer it offline and upload the replies…specifically…

Thanks a lot Larry. I left a message for the person who uploaded it, and a message for ALL a little while ago. It's been downloaded about 100 times and nobody else seems to have had trouble…maybe it's me! Art
#100450 #JTime Clock Message #100459
From: Art Lewis The Amiga Forum · Hardware December 29, 1987 6:46 AM
I used the chip they suggested in the text. The problem I have is that I am not really an electronics expert (just enough knowledge to be dangerous). In the schematic pictures….They were too big for one picture and it was divided into a top half and bottom half. It…
JTime Clock Message #100393
From: Art Lewis The Amiga Forum · Hardware December 28, 1987 9:52 PM
Did you build the JTime clock that you uploaded here? I have just built it and am experiencing some problems. (I am NOT an expert electronics tech… I have just enough knowledge to be dangerous!). There seems to be a slight discrepancy in the top and bottom drawings where they…
JTime Clock Message #100390
From: Art Lewis The Amiga Forum · Hardware December 28, 1987 9:47 PM
Do you know of anyone who has built the JTime clock found in dl11? I have been working on it and have found a problem in the schematics. I'd appreciate it if you could 'turn me on' to someone who has successfully built it. Art Lewis
