Steve, The 50M file disk is a little big. Maybe you could cut it in half and use two. Also add alot of buffers, say 2000 to each device containing the disk file(s). The added buffers will make a lot of difference. Ron
#A3000 superkick
Message #189150
I have been following this thread with interest since I also want to prepare a 3.1 kickstart file for my A3000. I used grabkick to get the 3.1 rom image from my A2000 and your ARexx script, thanks by the way, to make the kickstart file. After installing the file…
May I ask? I have an early SupraFax 288 modem with v.fast. Is there a way I can upgrade to v.34? Ron
Daniel, No, the Derringer, at any speed does not have a scsi interface. It does have a single 72 pin (32 bit) simm slot. It installs over the 68000 socket. I went with the Deringer because I've always had a positive experience with CSA. I bought a Mega-Midget Racer for…
I have the 50mhz model and a 4meg simm. I traded up from a mega-midget racer and they gave me a good allowance for it. The board works fine. I also have a retina and an IVS grandslam disk/ram combo. CSA is a good company to work with, you won't…

For those of you who have a Retina display card, has anyone ever tried getting technical support out of MacroSystemsUS ? The BBS listed in the manual, (514) 282-6019 is apparently not in service. They say there is a MacroSystem Amiga Vendor Forum but I can't find it. Any help…
1) yes, I want the Amiga to have a future 2) yes, I intend to buy future Amiga products as they become available 3) not a developer 4) not a developer 5) yes I'm willing to support the new Amiga and mom and apple pie too 6) yes I'm willing…
John, No the FC24 does not use the video slot. But doesn't the Toaster have a 24bit framebuffer ? I'm not trying to talk you out of it but this board will not give you a 16.8 million color workbench or even a 256 color workbench screen. The workbench screen…
John, Yes the firecracker drives standard amiga type NTSC rgb monitors. Your's with the long persistance phosphers is just what you need to make an interlaced display useable. Your cable will work directly on the FC output. In case you aren't aware, the FC has a connector and cable that…

#Retina X MMR ?
Message #140239
Hello All, I have just bought a Retina board to put in my A2000. I also have a Mega-Midget Racer 68030 accellerator but they don't get along. I can use the Retina but at random times I get a system alert, usually something like 8000 0004. After this I have…
Jim, I have installed the latest SetPatch V37.38 on my 16mhz superkickstart A3000. It sets the ciab.resource priority to 0. It has not solved my appletalk problems since emplant V4.0. It was also suggested to me on the tech support line that something was changing the cache settings. I investigated…
Carl You can use a 16 color screen with the A3000 and UU has just released 256 color support for aga machines. They don't have any thing for 24 bit cards now but I wouldn't be surprized to see it in the future, say for the Firecracker. I was going…
Diane, Can I assume you know that ATonce is an MS-Dos emulator and AMaxIIplus is a Macintosh emulator? So in what sense do you mean better? Like, is it well made or how well it performs it's intended purpose? There are alternative products in each catagory, would you be interested…
[ continuation ] the scsi port on the Emplant side also but this would seem not to be needed unless you wanted to connect non disk things like scanners. I've heard that people have been having problems with Sybil, the floppy interface option. I haven't even tried using it UU's…
Steve, I am using the Emplant in an A3000 now. After many (and continuing) updates to the hardware and software I am now getting it to do some usefull work. The reason I mention my machine is that the success one has with it seems to depend on what you…
I've actually gotten the Emplant to work from a Syquest drive. First I formatted and loaded the system from a Mac. Then I connected the drive to the Amiga and issued a mount command with a standard Syquest mountlist modified in the following way: Surfaces = 1 BlocksPerTrack = 32…
David, Ya know this is really a matter of personal preference. I don't use the workbench and spent a lot of time tuning up my cli environment so it's just the way I want it. Some of the important utilities and window dressings I use just don't work with 2.xx…
Fellow Emplantees, I have been struggling with trying to get a Syquest drive set up for use with the emplant. The aproach I've taken is to format a cartridge and copy on the system files from a real Mac. Then connected it up to the Amiga. Next I created a…

#EMPLANT status report
Message #78536
Did someone say they had gotten the serial ports on the EMPLANT to work from the Amiga side ? I've gotten mine to work sort of. I was using it with VLT, which has options to select serial devices, and a modem, an HST dual standard among others. I get…
Jonathan, I've been following this thread from the beginning, waiting like you for the emplant to arrive. I had one on order also and it arrived today. When the board was first announced, I called U. U. to see if I would be able to use the ROMs from a…
Phoenix Board for A1000
Message #60108
Larry, I've had my Phoenix board for over a year now, I was one of the original "investors". Basically, the board works as advertized and I'm happy with it. At the time my board arrived I was using an Expansion Technologies Toolbox with a Trumpcard disk controller, a CSA MMR…
[ continuation ] Phoenix supports Flicker Free Video so you can use it with a VGA monitor. Otherwise the video outputs are like the A1000. (Except that the "video" jack is monochrome.) I don't use WB 2.0 but Phoenix does support it's use and can provide the ROMs. They can…
I have been using the Phoenix board for almost a year now and am (qualifiedly) pleased with it. I am using it with a CSA Mega-Midget racer and an IVS Grand Slam combo scsi/ram board in it's single "2000" slot. I am only using the GS for memory though, using…
Digi View problem
Message #32129
I have Digi-View Gold 4.0. on a system with 1meg chip, 2meg fast and 2meg 32bit on a CSA-MMR. In the Control/Camera requester, the "Slow/Color Camera" Capture Mode gadget is ghosted and I can't select it. Do you know what the problem might be? Thanks, Ron

The forum says I have a message for me but my read message counter has gone beyond it's number and I don't know how to find it with Whap! I think it was in the Amiga Hardware section. Can you please help ? Ron
Michael, My Q105S came with the same jumper configuration as yours, with EP jumpered and SS and WS open. I don't know what they do but I left them alone. A0, A1 and A2 are for setting the SCSI address. The address is the sum of the values of the…
Darren, Your right about the difference between the economy MMR and the standard. MMU stands for "memory management unit". It's a part of the regular 68030 processor chip. It allows the cpu to do some fancy things with memory such as overwrite protection and mapping one region to another. It…
Richard, I wrote an easyplex message (to long for a forum message) to someone else on the subject I'll send it to you also. Ron
I've had one in my A1000 for about 6 months. I would unconditionally recommend it except that mine is now at the factory to evaluate a very wierd problem that has recently developed. Without going into the gory details, the cpu acts like it lapses into and out of progressively…

Are there any other Phoenix mother board users out there. If you're interested, I'd like to share our experiences. I just received my board a couple of days ago and have made the installation. It looks very nice and seems to work generally but I have a few disappointments Ron
