Hey Mark, How's it goin'? How's things at Touchvision? You got an icy winter back there in Chicago? Sorry I never called you back, but I've been in a pinch for the last five weeks. Just spent two days without sleep to meet a deadline, and now its met. I…

Hey Matthew, I haven't tried it, but look into a Gold Disk product called Video Director, or something like that. It sells for about a hundred bucks. It works with Control S or L. Though it won't give you frame accuracy — I think it claims +\- 3 to 5…

Hey Alberto, chill man. This is all getting out of hand. I'm a pro editor — and I work for television in Hollywood. I use a Montage rig (PC based), which I like. It's OK with me if you use Avid — good machines. I got nothing against Mac. No…

Vincent, your use of the SGI sounds interesting. Do you use it mostly for pure animation or effects animantion? I often look lustfully at those systems and would love to try one out. Is the interface really that daunting? Best, CJH

Larry, You might look at Montage, as well. I have their offline system and am pleased with it. They have the same interface in a version that your friend might consider online quality, using the Targa2000 card. They'll also be using the PCI version of it when it is out,…

Gary, look into 4mm DAT backup, it's fast, and you can get set up for well under a grand. Also, Iomega is coming out with 100meg floppies. The drive should sell for about 200 bucks, and the disks for about 25. Best, CJH

Thank you Shelby, but I already have the cards. Though I might consider the deal so that I can get a backup pair. I hear you folks have some ultra cool stuff coming Q2-3 next year. I hear you'll be shakin' some ground at NAB. Looking forward to seeing what…

No bro, Intel is phasing out the AM2 card. It will be discontinued by this time next year. That doesn't matter to me, though. If I can get two solid years of use out of the equipment, I'll be more than happy. This time next year, a number of desktop…

Ricky! Ricky! Ricky! You poor Macfiends; you just can't resist. These platform wars are going to be the religious wars of the next century.

Hey folks, thanks for the new forum. Its nice to have one that's that's desktop video only. Now — has anyone out there worked on one of the newer Montages. I'm thinking of buying one in the next few days, and I wouldn't mind a little feedback. My other choice…
