I've commented about these issues in the past and get the 'quit whining and come up with some solutions' comments. Frankly, I'm tired of getting my nose rubbed in the stuff and am just watching. It should be obvious that we cannot afford not only the tuition costs but the…
Mike, I think I've got all the ATCEC Chair Report. It seems to be broken up in a couple of pages. Glad to hear about Lynn and sorry to hear about Phil. I'll be sure to work on the items you mentioned in #13 for AU. Take care, David
Very interesting… I haven't really thought enough about possibly altering the grades. I guess the proctor or instructor needs to keep a watch on how the exam would be administered. I know in my situtation, the problem would be very unlikely (small classes and closely monitored.) Thanx for your comments.…
John, Thanx for the reply. The program/LISP routine you described sure sounds great! So I'm not the only one trying to automate my grading and evaluation of students? I'll try to send a message to John. I sure would like to see what he has.
I'm half brain dead in the evenings now. "Open format exams" just means that I can enter my own questions and answers into a generic test. Given the correct answers, the "test program" would automatically compute the grade. I have a bank of standard questions and pull them out to…
Roger, Absolutly, I would definitely like to take a look at what ya'll have. As I mentioned, this would be a great help for me and I'm sure other instructors would be interested as well. A good open format exam program would be worth spending some $ for. E-mail would…

Perhaps the most impressive thing about the AutoCAD Certification Exam was the test itself. I would be very interested in purchasing or obtaining a program that works like the ACE. This would save an incredible amount of time for all instructors. There were two important features of this exam that…

Thanks for the interest in the Education / Training SIG. We can use your help w/ getting the E/T SIG underway. There are a number of hot topics that were discussed at the meetings at AU. Your comments about educational pricing was passed over by Autodesk. Either the person from…
Pat, Good suggestion (to have AU cover a weekend) since almost everyone needs to stay over a saturday anyway. As for entrance fee to the exhibits at AU, I'm not sure. Can someone else help me out here? If not I'll find out.
Dennis, Reality, WOW what a concept. Scheduling AU must be a real problem for Autodesk. Autodesk EXPO A/E/C Systems, and CAD Camp during the summer are two major events in a short period of time. I will make sure John Forbes and NAAUG are aware of this problem. I know…

To all Educators & Trainers, One of the most beneficial functions of the AutoCAD r12 Instructor training course was seeing other instructor teaching techniques. Everyone had to demonstrate one method that they used in teaching AutoCAD. We had 20 in our class and every session was valuable. I use one…
Pat, Autodesk University will be in Atlanta, GA next year. I can't recall the exact dates, but it will be during the week of the 31st of October. The reason this event has always been on the west coast is that's where the developers are. It sure is nice to…
Pat, Autodesk University is one of the largest (if not the largest) technical software events. There are over 180 1.5 hour technical sessions relating to Autodesk products. Everything from basic CADD to rapid prototyping. It is a five day event with activities all day and through the evening. There is…
Elizabeth, I'm not sure how you're plotting (extents, limits, window) but the most successful way to plot is to put a rectangle around your drawing that is the plotters maximum plot size. Printers cannot plot to the very edge of the paper; therefore the plot size must be smaller than…

Hello, This is the first time I've posted a message here about the NAAUG Education / Training SIG (Special Interest Group). If you're not aware NAAUG officially recognized our SIG a few months ago. I was appointed the Chairman because of my involvemet with NAAUG last year. Last year I…

Wayne, Thanks alot for your meeting w/ me today! Your input is critical for the development of the Education/Training SIG. I will be in touch w/ you about AU activities. Please have me added to the ATC section of the ASOFT forum. I understand that most conversations need to be…
