[ continuation ] Location Zero problem with the 2091. I called Impulse and reported the problem, they told me that CBM made a mistake (they didn't know where) in designing the A2500 and that they software worked fine, so CBM would have to change their hardware! However, if I wanted to upgrade to SV that the problem would go away. They also spent about 10 minutes bad mouthing Byte by Byte. Well I can't upgrade all my copies on the selves since they didn't sell SV to Distributors (or dealers for that matter) but I went ahead and upgraded my personal copy. Guess what it still dosn't work! By this time people had discoved what the problem was, the A2091 changed the value of memory location zero, and programers who improperly used uninitiated pointers in their code, would not work. When I called Impulse again (they were rude as usuall) they said that they have no plans to fix SV and that I should wait for Imagine. So I had to send the 12 copies I had bought for stock, back to the distributor and my own copy sits unused. Now that Imagine is supposedly out, I hear that customers where charged for their copies over a month before shipping. Its too bad that Imagine is probably a good product since its not worth the headache dealing with the Impulse. If I ever wanted to order Impulse product again, I would have to make a personal request to our Cooperate office, which I would only due if they could prove that they have changed their ways and send me Imagine to upgrade my own version as well as to use as a demo. Which I am quite sure will never happen. What irritates me the most is that I am still on their mailing list and they keep sending me letters saying what a great company they are and how dedicated to customer support they are. I'm glad to get all this off my chest, as Impulse really made me and the Amiga look bad infront of my superiors… Just my personaly opinions, -Jason-Jason71341,533

Sorry to hear about your problems, but I never had any trouble with Impulse when I had to contact them directly. **** Vance ****

Well, let me tell my small tale from the dealers perspective about Impulse. We had a major interest in 3d modeling software and the 24 bit graphics boards about a month ago. The interest was from the Christian Broadcasting Network (ya know CBN, Pat Robertson, etc.). We called Impulse and asked for flyers on Imagine and on the Firecracker 24 board, and pricing information. To date (it has now been two months), neither has arrived. One of the graphics artists at CBN even called Impulse and was promised by Impulse that they would send out a demo tape demonstrating the graphics power of the FireCracker 24 board, that also has not arrived. This was also a month and a half ago. Needless to say we lost the sale of about 15 Amiga 3000s, and yet more PCs were purchased to do the job. 🙁 Now I have met the President of that company, and I know that they have a low-cost, low-overhead operation, and from being a small time business person myself I know how hard it is to support customers as well as perspecitive customers, so I have not complained to them, as they do have excellent products. I have seen good support online here and really am not trying to raise the hackels of anyone at Impulse, just wanted you to know that you are not alone. -mark= Video Computer Retailers

From a customers pov..I mourn the day Impulse lost Stan(The customer support guy who answered the 800 phone). He generated alot of positive responses with his enlightened way of talking to people. When Mike H. took over the task it was a sad day…As a professional video editor it was embarrasing listening to his blustering about NTSC problems with the VD1 frame buffer.Stupid..and arrogant to boot.I moved on from Impulse deciding that I would not support such contemptousness Tom/exit
