Amiga Amateru radio? Is anybody there? Couldn't find amy messages to read.
Interested to hear what software is available. Chris WB7ATO
Well, there's not much on CIS, but you could try (for packet radio)
Packet.lzh and ANOS29.lha, and the frequency database program
scan.lha. These are right here in the communications section of the
library.
Chris,
There is stuff for the Amiga over in the Ham radio forum.

Some of us are here, all right. :^)

Forgot this section was here! Talk about underutilized.
So, Ben, any work getting done to AVT_Master???
73, Kelly
Nope… not a thing, as of yet. I keep eying it, though… It'll probably
get done, just because I like the thing. :^)

Maybe by the time you get around to doing something with it, I'll
have some sort of antenna up that would be useful with it (but I
doubt it).
Well, we can both hope. :^)
Chris;
Not a bunch of activity here but some of us are around. About all that I
use for Ham radio is AmigaNOS (version 29n now, but have not been able to
get the source for that one). KB7LX@kb7lx.ampr.org 44.74.1.44

Bill,
I have been trying to get version 'n' up and running for awhile now. Some
success, some failures. A couple of questions.
1) It appears that I answer back too fast for the receiving station during IP
activity. What can I change to make that pause a fraction of a second.
2) Does there exist any "good" documentation for all of the commands of anos?
I have found what I can on ucsd.edu and the like, but no real docs exist.
3) I get a "Bad I/O on SETPARAMS 5" when I start up anos, do you know what that
would be from?
4) Lets get some more activity surrounding Ham Radio in this forum!!!
Thanks,
Alan Adamson

Alan;
I going to "hold" you message here in AutoPilot. I don't have the time to
answer properly just now but it deserves an answer.
You probably picked up the AmigaNOS.guide and that is about the best there
is (though it is none too good).
Meantime, what Amiga system and OS are you running? What tnc do you use
and what is your serial port speed?
-bill
Ok, let me see if I can answer the questions
System A4000 w 3.0 wb
TNC – KAN KPC-3
Serial port speed – 9600.
Further comment. I am using a GVP IOextender card for serial. It uses a
device called gvpser.device. When using that device, I get the Bad IO message,
when using the serial.device, I don't get it and when using the empser.device
for my emplant, I dont get the bad io message. Now the GVP has the capability
of running at much higher baud rates that the amiga serial port. As well is
has a hardware buffer. Maybe some device issues with their implementation?
I also have noticed that when doing ip stuff, I get lots of what look like
complete packets back from the other station that the connection window never
gets. maybe there is just one bit that is wrong and it gets rejected, but the
biggest problem seem to be that I respond too fast and the other station
doesn't hear me.
One other note, I am using a repeater that is dedicated for packet.
Thanks,
Alan
Alan;
I just don't have time to mess with the code right now (besides, I don't
have a recent enough version).
The problem with the GVP IOextender might be in part due to GVP's
implementation but the AmigaNOS stuff does not work correctly with the C=
A2232 either. I have looked a little at the serial device code and under
cursory examination there does not appear to be anything wrong with it,
however there must be…
I am thinking that the Parameter 5 problem could very well be a real
problem in the code. Isn't that a parameter that is just for the KAM
tncs? I don't believe that I use that with the tnc2 clone.
However, I was wrong about that… (just looked) It might be parameter 1
"TxDelay" that might help a little with your problem. Not that I think
that parameter 1 is definately the one that is the problem but still it
might help to reduce the problem (and it is parameter 4 that is not
implemented on the Kam rather than parameter 5 not being used for tnc 2).

The problem as I understand it is that the A2232 (and possibly the GVP board)
doesn't support the SERF_EOFMODE parameter. I'd guess that it's what tells
AmigaNOS that the board has stuff waiting for retrieval. AmigaNOS sits there
waiting for this flag and it never gets set. The only way around it in
AmigaNOS is to set the buffer to 1. I asked John Heaton if he could somehow
make the setting of this flag an AmigaNOS parameter but I never heard back from
him. There's a slip.device driver that was specifically compiled for the a2232
so AmigaNOS should be able to handle it as well. The next best thing would be
for someone to get the source for the serial.device driver from Commodore and
fix it.
Steve
Could be right Steve. Seems to me that I played around with that and did
find that the buffer size of 1 worked (though the machine's overall
performance is horrible). That makes me feel a bit better in that I could
not find anything wrong with John's code in that regard.

Bill, What's AmigaNOS do? The ham software I have is for my dear old H89.
INcludes nice RTTY and morse packages. Haven't used either for years. Will try
you on Internet sometime, I hope. 73 Chris
Chris;
AmigaNOS is the Amiga port of the KA9Q tcp/ip package. It allows an Amiga
to drive a kiss mode tnc on packet radio. This provides normal ax.25,
limited NETROM/TheNET, and tcp/ip service (such as FTP, telnet, rlogin and
the like).
It is not a "good" Amiga port except that it does multitask well and does
not attempt to "take over".
BTW, I have an old H-89 back in the ham shack too.

Bill, Thanks. Don't know enough about packet to enterpret most of your message
but will keep it on file should I ever have time to look into Packet. Thanks,
Chris
