Vic, OK here's the scoop. I am going to write an Editor that will allow me to write HP-48SX programs on my Amiga for downloading to the calculator. For you folks not in the know, the HP-48SX in Hewlett Packard's new wonder handheld machine. It comes with 30K of memory…

AMAX & 6.0.5 Problem?
Message #557
With AMAX II, the system reports that Mac+ ROMS are MAC+ ROMS, as it should. I had noticed that 512KE pecularity also. One MAC cdev that I find useful – since I have to system manage a bunch of them (among a lot of other machines) is "MacEnvy II" which…
I should also add, since it is unclear in my first reply, that I had problems with 6.0.4 under AMAX I. I haven't tried 6.0.4 with AMAX II in the couple of days that I have had the update. Mike

#AMAX & 6.0.5 Problem?
Message #555
Readysoft claims in the Amax II literature that they have tested it through 6.0.5. I haven't verified that, since most of our MACs at work are on 6.0.4 and I have been running my AMAX I with 6.0.3 since I had problems with 6.0.4. I will look around to see…

Thanks for the reply. The second part of your answer is what I was looking for, that the controller does support SCSIDirect and that tape drives/backup software using that are compatible. Cheers, Mike

Oh sorry – I TAS is an abbreviated form of DP:TAS, which is how Leo Schwab prefers to refer to it. Guess I should've made that clearer! -Mike

Help, I Can't Reboot!
Message #145
Hi folks, My Amiga has been misbehaving lately, and I'm hoping someone around here might be able to help me track down what's wrong before I either take the machine in for service or try to repair it myself. Here's my system: an Amiga 2000 (rev 4.5 motherboard, upgraded from…
It took me a bit to realize your references to TAS meant the Disney package. But, your acronym is more accurate than DAS since I believe the full title is "Disney Presents The Animation Studio".
Actually, the majority of software works pretty well under 2.0, except for some minor cosmetic problems (people have a tendency to write one pixel into the window borders, for example). I now use 2.0 exclusively, except when I use dpaint III (which is broken under 2.0), and in that case…
It appears the particular problem with TAS will be fixed in the final rev of 2.0 by Commodore-Amiga. It involves a 'feature' added in 2.0 which ended up breaking alot of animation programs, and C= is now considering either removing the feature, or making it program selectable. -Mike
The problem with the Animation Studio is due to a 'feature' in 2.0. Unfortunately the C= engineers did not realize that this feature (copper list clipping, if you're interested inthe details 😎 would end up breaking legitimate code, such as what TAS has. C= is at this moment considering ways…

#Help! What's .lzh?
Message #139
I've noticed a lot of files I'd like to download have a .lzh. I'm familiarr with .arc, .zoo, .zip, etc. but what utility is used to decompress .lzh, and where on Compuserve can I find it? Thanks
I'm sure you will find folks with a similar problem. It is caused by folks not following the "rules" when they are programming. By breaking the rules, I mean doing things like bypassing the operating system or talking to a specific hardware address or things on that order. Many, many,…

Amiga Term (Help!)
Message #126

Is it an IBM CGA display? THol() { cout
Please please please put an ARexx port into Vista 2.0. THol() { cout
It is unlikely that this adjustment is related to the reported problem. Peter.
Rob, it sounds to me like your 23 pin cable is defective in some way. There have been some pretty dubious cable designs published. A properly made cable attached to the 23 pin connector should not affect the flickerFixer display. You might want to check with Redmond Cable. Peter.
#A500 IBM emulator
Message #120
For anyone that is interested… I have received and installed the A500's new IBM emulator distributed by Pulsar Technologies. So far the installation was a breeze. Essentially, I have an IBM-xt dual floppy disk system hidden inside my A500. No, it doesn't run as a subtask of Workbench (like the…
Rob, I don't have a FlickerFixer…but believe there's an adjustment on the back of it you can twiddle with to return the display to you originally had. Don
David, In the Communications Library (lib 5). We've always kept compression/de-compression utilities in the Communications library since that's what they are used with. Don
Dave, The Reujevenator is an add-on internal board designed by Greg Tibbs that allows the new enhanced chip set (ECS) to be used with the A1000 and it also gives it the ability to add a Flicker Fixer (from MicroWay) to the A1000 also. Yes, it has the new chips,…

Larry, Improperly written software can choke on long pathnames (or anything that ends up being larger than the author thought the largest possible would be).
