PROKER.LHA
Message #48545
I've downloaded PROKER.LHA and de-archived it. Has anyone any idea how I can get it to run? When I double click on the icon, nothing happens. Any help would be appreciated. Peter Hill flying Tornado on AutoPilot over English Lakes
Viewtek 2.0 will do what you want although for Jpegs on a AGA machine I prefer FastJpeg. Both are freewhare
Shaun, I don't think it has a sizeable window but Viewtek might do the rest of what you want. The problem is you'll only be able to see those pictures in HAM6 at best. I don't know how well it well interact with amigaguides though. You can find it in…
PPShow displays gifs, jpegs, iffs and so on. And it's fast! But I don't know how you can make it to show up in a window, WB screen. Definitely you need 3.1 for your 500. SURE not possible without it (but possible on a separate screen) Hope this helps Rafa…

Tim,
The .DMS extension tells you that these were compressed with the DMS compression scheme. Look in the Archivers library of AmigaUser for the DMS program. Just search with DMS for the keyword and it will come right up for you. —Betty
You need to download Disk Masher. .DMS is the extension for DM. It is a compression program for the Amiga that will compress and decompress entire 880K floppies. Cheers, Stan Happiness is just a render away…

I'd love to do it, but I don't have the time right now. I'm going to school full time, working, and volunteering for scouting. If there's another opportunity in the future, I'd love to be considered! BTW, good luck with the game, and I look forward to seeing it on…

Alan, After you've saved your pictures form the Vidi (hardware) to the software have you tried viewing it on the Amiga? I'm not familiar with that hardware or any software that comes with it. I've converted pictures using OpalPaint, Adpro and ImageFX to JPegs and given them to friends with…
Vidi 12 RT is digitising hardware for the Amiga. It also comes with software that allows you to digitise pictures or animations directly from any video source. You can save what you've digitised in a number of formats. I saved a picture in JPEG format and tried to load it…
Alan, < i saved the picture on vidi 12 rt. does that help you?> Sorry, but no, that doesn't help me. What is vidi 12 rt? Is it hardware, software, what? I've never heard of it. Asha Another Day Another Million Colors

I have been able to view some gifs, and while the edges of the pictures are somewhat distorted the rest looks pretty good.

Alan, With OS 3.1 you will get Multi-view and will be able to use datatypes. There are several good GIF ones. Your only limitation will be colors. Your A500 is only capable of 16 colors in hi-res and GIFs are normally 256 colors, so the displayed pictures will probably not…
Thanks for the info. I'm on an A500 which I'm planning to update to 3.1 in the next month or two. I have 2megs chip ram and 8megs fast, is this sufficient?

What's the best program to handle (move, rotate, edit) gif files for workbench 1.3? Or do I need to upgrade before delving into graphics? Thanks all!
gif files?> < If you're running an older OS you might be able to view them with Viewtek or Superview (both available here). There may be others that I'm forgetting. > PPshow will also work. Geoff
Henry, GIF has been an extremely popular method of storing graphics for a long time. It works for almost any computer. GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format – available for all. Almost any of the Amiga file viewers will be able to display GIF images. And there are a number…
#Why GIF?
Message #48079
Hi. I was browsing picture files and to my surprise I found many of them with the GIF suffix. Was this a decision to save library space? What I really want to know is if there is a utility available to convert these gifs into our own iff's? These ibm…
Alan, You'll need something to view them with as they are not native to the Amiga. If you're running OS 3.1 you can view them with multiview. Make sure you've got a GIF datatype (you can find a couple of them here, search for datatype) installed in devs:datatypes. If you're…
Yes, thanks a lot for the info. Is there anything special I need to know about gif files?
Alan,
if you have os2.1 plus that supports dosdrivers, and have lha you can get the lha dosdriver which allows you to extract lha files from harddisk thru workbench and not fully decompressing it to harddrive/memory try looking in amiga user keyword archives
If I understand your question correctly, I think you need to unpack the files… do they all say FileName.LHA or .LZH??? If so, these files are "archived", "compressed" or "packed" files. Each .LHA file contains several different related files and their icons, etc. needed to run the program that you…
