I would like to post a message or classified to those people who want to write C programs, but just can't get started on or afraid of Intuition. I would like to help them with their GUI. Thank You Andy

#34228 2.04 ROM wire Message #34234
From: Mike Schiller Amiga Tech Forum · Developers April 15, 1993 11:25 AM
Steve: I believe the wire's only needed in A500's. If you're putting it into an A2000 I think you can remove the wire, I don't think any A2000's need the wire. // -Mike Schiller \X/ AMIGA! On AutoPilot in sunny Fort Lauderdale

I have a 2.04 ROM here that I'm going to install into a machine. It has one of those wires jumpers across the top, and I can't remember the motherboard revs that require it be cut or just left in place. Anyone remember? I can't find that dern instruction sheet…

Kelly First of all when I type version printer.device I get: printer.device 39.6 As to whether this prints any more colors, I cannot say. I, alas, do NOT have a color pinter at hand. Haven't looked at doing HW at all yet, 'fraid I can't help their either.

#32909 CDTV $3 Royalty? Message #32934
From: Black Belt Systems Amiga Tech Forum · Developers March 10, 1993 12:12 PM
Um. We do well enough with them, but perhaps the fact that we're not into CDROM at all at this point has helped. They've been good about everything for us, really. I really don't have trouble with the technical group, I think they're good. I have trouble with policy and…

We don't need no steekin logic, apparently. I tell ya, everytime that $450 fee comes around, I think twice… What do I get from it most often? Someone passing the buck, because they can't determine who's really in charge of the project / product in question, because of personnel shifts.

With the logic of this CDTV royalty increase, they should charge developers per copy for bootable Workbench disks, too.

They must not believe that they're in an underdog position in the Wars for the Consumer CD-ROM Device. From the way Campbell was talking, they're confident that everyone involved in publishing CD-based games/titles will do cross-platform development, and will pay the royalty. By leaving the royalty where it was at…

Considering the number of people developing for CDTV, Commodore shouldn't be charging anything for a royalty. They should just be selling the software directly. Steve

#CDTV $3 Royalty? Message #32786
From: Syndesis Amiga Tech Forum · Developers March 6, 1993 2:07 PM
I talked today with CBM's John Campbell, to ask why the CDTV per-disc royalty rose from 25 cents to $3. His reasons: 1) Because everyone else (that is: Sega, 3DO, CD-I, but except MPC) is doing it. 2) Because 25 cent royalties didn't make it worthwhile to sue the companies…

Lets see… I sent in the order 2 weeks ago today. And today, my nice new machine is sitting on my desk and I'm just now doing my first online session with it. (I can see already that tonight is going to be one of those *really* late night sessions……

It's actually quite funny… About 10 minutes after I left that message, someone from Commodore called to say my machine had been shipped… I'm using it now, in fact. (And it's already spoiled me… ) –>Steve Bennett
From: Steve Ahlstrom Amiga Tech Forum · Developers March 5, 1993 11:38 AM
Steve, It depends on what you order. As of 2-3 weeks ago 4000s were backordered and CATS was telling people they'd have a long wait. -sja
From: Betty Clay/SYSOP Amiga Tech Forum · Developers March 5, 1993 12:00 AM
Depends on whether they have them in stock, Steve. I have received things in less than a week – and again, I've had to wait a couple of months. You can usually ask when you call and they can tell you within a day or two of when to expect…
From: Vic Wagner Amiga Tech Forum · Developers March 4, 1993 9:11 PM
Steve, Sometimes they ship the same day (has happened to us a couple times), other times it takes a while (don't try ordering a 2065 Ethernet card from them, they don't have any and don't expect any soon).
From: Marlene Zenker/SYSOP Amiga Tech Forum · Developers March 4, 1993 8:51 PM
Well, if you happen to buy a couple, I'll take one. 🙂 I think it's taken about a week for things that I've ordered, but that was for a tape drive and a SCSI controller. Steve

Does anyone have a rough idea how long it usually takes to get a hardware (computer) order through the developer program at CATS? (Yes, Steve P., I couldn't wait any longer… ) –>Steve Bennett
