The following information was released today, Wednesday, March 1. 1995 at 6:02 am EST. For your benefit, we have highlighted the key messages of the release below: 1) The 3D Studio Renderer is now available for SGI workstations; one of the fastest production renderers on the market is now even…
Yea yea yea, I realized what I had done AFTER I sent you the message. Thanx, Don't want to let any secrets out. I had done the same thing with Jonas not realizing that I responded to a message in the IPAS forum that should have been In the AS…
Hi Dave, >>>Business as usual. Doing some training up there on 3DS. Then I fly home to Reno. Hey, has it been kinda quiet with the Loving's gone?

I thought this WAS the beta section? Maybe I'm wrong.

/* Also, is it just me or do flics playback real slow? The player module plays everything fine. which reminds me, I'd also like a 'load into ram" menu item. I've now got 128 megs now, and I would like to load everything into ram. */ So far this is…
#Custimize the toolbar
Message #4366
If anyone as MS Word 6.0 this will make perfect sense. I'd really like the ability to custimize the button toolbar strip, to the extent that any command you can access through the menus, you can make a button in the tool bar for. This would also be really helpful…
Mike – Thanks.
Thank you for sending the files, however we could not reproduce the behavior you were describing. this is good to hear. There will be nothing on the renderer that is not already on the PC. -Brian
You're in. -Mike
#C2 Beta Area?
Message #4342
Is there an area for C2 BETA? If so, can I get access please? -TonyT.
#sgi
Message #4332
Brian Hi What did you find out the files I sent you ? We have been using the rnnderer and find it VERY GOOD and fast. we do not have the PC and the SGI's on the same net and so must use the exabyte to move files around .…
Audio digitizing hangups
Message #4312
Hi everyone, has anyone sucessfully digitized any length of 16 bit audio without it crashing? I'm running a SB 16. -Kyle
Hi Lee, I think you posted this in the wrong section. 🙂 jonas[adesk]
Thanks alot, hopefully the powers that be will understand the points I'm trying to make. Since the licenses expire in April, it shouldn't cause too many problems for them. Thanks Again, Paul
Plug-in Filters
Message #4221
Have been trying different filters in AS. Only HSC filters seem to be recognized. Andromeda filters are recognized at first but crashing. -lee
#Arrrrrrgh
Message #4215
O.K., Now that I'm on here, here's my first problem with the renderer. Whoever decided that it was going to be policy to only allow one renderer license to run per server during the beta period seems to have missed a vital aspect of this. The vast majority of shops…
Other sections?
Message #4186
So how many other hidden sections are here? I visit on a regular basis, but there never seem to be any new messages in the IPAS 4 and SGI beta sections, yet the high message count still keeps going up. If anyone wants me to chime in about ideas for…
> c1 update for both dos and windows. […] the last crashes every time […] > does anyone else have this problem and a suggestion? We use dual platform R13 too, and after C1 patch upgrade for Win we had to reinstall the initial (no patched9 version. It didn't crash…
#dual platform
Message #4136
we are running the dual platform of r13 and have attempted to use the c1 update for both dos and windows. the first update installs correctly while the last crashes every time due to the history file being the current one in windows. does anyone else have this problem and…
Gus, John's message reminded me, would you mind posting the SGI FLIC player utility here in the SGI BETA library? -Brian
I think you should upload it here, so that other BETA sites can play around with it if they want. I wouldn't upload it in the ASOFT forum until after the product ships, though. After it ships, we will have a section devoted to SGI, and you can put it…
Samba filesystem
Message #4130
I've got a ZIP file ready to go that contains Samba, including SGI executables, which provides a freeware link between the SGI and PCs. So far, according to Brent Malnack, Samba works with the SGI 3DS renderer. (I wasn't able to test it with my old SGI because it's not…
SGI section?
Message #4122
I'd still like to get into the SGI renderer section. Who should I talk to about this? I've signed all the NDAs, Autodesk has sent me two versions of it, but in my forum options section, I only see section 8, "join", and section 11, IPAS4 beta.
The current shipping version of OnNet is 1.1. The only thing I needed was setting up pcnfsd on the Irix. The source for pcnfsd is all over the place including in the distribution of both PCNFS and OnNet (with OnNet you get a CDROM with a quazilion utilities).
Gus, Sounds great. At least a rats nest network keeps you busy! When you get a chance, could you post the version numbers, etc. of OnNet and the misc stuff you needed to get it running? We don't have it here, and I'd like to keep it in the database.…
I run OnNet on the majority of my PC's. It's by far more flexible. The only oddity was that I could not get the [normal] pcnfsd located in the Sun server to authenticate those machines when attempting to mount drives on the SGI. I have never used the SGI as…
>> So did you run into any problems or potential issues getting the >> first Beta up and running? Not really. I did have two problems but they were related to system configuration. At first my resolv.conf had a typo (came in like that) and it was not resolving names…
Beta #2 has that included. It should have been sent out yesterday – overnight express. You might already have it by now. So did you run into any problems or potential issues getting the first Beta up and running? -Brian
Yo, I had "unclicked" this forum from OzCIS and had totally forgotten about it. So far this [SGI] stuff is working just fine (all the stuff said it is supposed to do and granted that it is just slightly faster than a Pentium 60). Any clues when I will be…
Sounds great, but where did you get Samba from??? BTW can you tell me what this forum section is for? I hardly ever see anything interesting in it – infact you're the first thing I've ever noticed…
#PC-SGI networking
Message #3997
I'm looking for the section for the undisclosed PC-and-SGI-based product… Do I need to be approved to find it? Meanwhile, here's a message I also posted in the Asoft forum, regarding a way to connect PCs and SGIs. I'm not sure if it works with the above SGI product, but…
